Movie Night at Scientology's New York "Org": The Village Voice Gets Proselytized! by Tony Ortega,
Village Voice, Aug. 5, 2012,
http://blogs.villagevoice.com/runninsca ... rk_org.phpWhat a hoot. Andreas Heldal-Lund, founder of
Operation Clambake, gets some well-deserved acknowledgment. Tony Ortega is entertained by the only-shown-in-orgs version of the Chill E.B. video. CoS looks silly; maybe those who let Tony and Andreas in will get screamed at for not sensing the deep suppressive personhood of their visitors; they'll Google Tony Ortega, and quit.
Keep reading for the second story, about how the Church of Scientology International National Affairs Office's opening celebration says "call for time and date," presumably to foil picketers. Didn't anyone think that "International National" sounds funny together?
The third story is about an appeal to send more books to libraries, talking about "Her Royal Governor." Tony said: " I'm told that "Her Royal Governor" is a reference to Nancy Cartwright, OT extraordinaire and the voice of Bart Simpson. I hope someone can help us understand how she managed to get saddled with that moniker."
The fourth story: 28,426 individual LRH books and items for sale for $3.5 million on eBay...
The fifth story: A link to a very worthwhile 2000 Mark Bunker video, which features ex-Scientologists "OT VIIs Peter Alexander, Greg and Debra Barnes, and Tory (Christman) Bezazian talking about this thing Scientology that had taken up so much of their lives."
My only comment is that Tony assumed the lady who offered to sell them books was a Sea Org member; that role sounds more like an ordinary staff member.
