Nice to see the LA Weekly dissing scientology again. That pilot's uniform? Johnny bought a jet from Qantas and flew it to Australia last week, so maybe the uniform came with the plane...he apparently has a bona fide pilot's lincece too. Wow, what a guy! Buying a Qantas plane - "the safest airline in the world" - could have been a nifty little PR stunt to get that country's stats up. My friend in Melbourne reports there is very little scientology activity down under these days.

John Travolta was recently certified to fly Boing 747s, and he personally pilots the 707 he bought from Quantas. I don't see anything weird about wearing a pilot's uniform when piloting a 707.

I don't understand the connection between David Miscavige and Danny Bonaduce. Danny was a child star on The Partridge Family in the early 1970s and is now a radio personality. He doesn't look like DM, although he does have red hair like LRH. So what? A lot of people have red hair.

Lots of people do have red hair. I'm one of them. But unlike LRH, I don't plan to keep it slathered with hair color when I hit middle age.

Incidentally, Danny Bonaduce and I have the same birthday. He's a year older than I. It's my only claim to fame so far. That and my incessant joking and degrading on this board.

As I heard it, Johnny was asked by Quantas to fly one of their jets to Australia, for publicity both for the airline and his newest flick. He has been certified as a 727/747 pilot for years.

Johnny bought that jet off Qantas awhile ago. Do you think Qantas initiated the sale? Whoa, if they did, then Qantas must be another scientology front group.....don't think so. But I could be wrong.

Travolta is obviously NOT starring in any movies while he is jetting about the world. I think his career as movie star is over. Now he's just a nostalgia item; he's not making NEW things happen anymore. Does this mean his next move is appearing with the other has-beens and wanna-be's in "Hollywood Squares?" He certainly doesn't have the star power to be the "center square" like Whoopi Goldberg.

She saw his TV talk show from an American channel on the satelite TV (or perhaps the signal was just bouncing off Ron in the ionosphere ?) and his belligerent demeanor, crude stupidity, and 'little-me' Ron resemblance reminded her of a cross between Ron and DM. No, to the best of the MEST data, Danny Bonaduce has no connections to Scientology.

I don't think Quantas would allow him to pilot a Quantas commerical flight with passengers. The requirements to pilot a commercial flight are extremely stringent - probably more so since 9/11 and the recent arrest of two pilots for drunkeness. The liability risk would be too great and the pilots' union would object.

What probably happend is that when Travolta bought his 707 from Quantas he had to travel to Australia to take delivery, then flew it back himself (along with his co-pilot).

Given the recent tragic history surrounding non-professional pilots seeking big jet flight training, you would have thought that John Travolta asking for 747 instruction would have raised a few suspicions ... after all, if he was true to Ron Hubbard's Scientology, he would have asked for instructions on how to take off, but not to land. (i.e., OT Scientologists are so far removed from reality that they never consider the possibility that they may one day 'land' back in our world)

There's a thought... You can move Scienos and Staff around the country by air without ever having to rub shoulders with the wogs.

Travolta has been a pilot for many years and probably had a childhood fantasy of being an airline pilot, which is why sought Boeing 747 pilot certification and flies his 707 himself, wearing an airline pilot's uniform.

I don't think that he's an airline for Scientology. If David Miscavage doesn't like flying with wogs, he can get his own private plane & pilot.
