Exclusive: Tom and Katie Celebrate with Travoltas at Secret Event (IAS '09)
usmagazine.com 20th Oct 09
http://www.usmagazine.com/celebritynews ... s-20092010

Quote:
Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and daughter Suri reunited with John Travolta and wife Kelly Preston -- plus over 4000 other Scientologists -- at a massive party in England on Oct. 16, Usmagazine.com has confirmed.

The stars were surprise guests at the 25th anniversary of the International Association of Scientologists held at Saint Hill Manor in East Grinsted, West Sussex. During nearly two hours of speeches, Cruise, 47, briefly addressed the rapturous, fist-pumping crowd: "Because we never took our eyes off the ultimate prize, we stand where we are today," he intoned, witnesses tells Us. "We are in this together!"

When a choir took to the stage, the Cruise-Holmes family stood up with the rest of the audience. "Tom was swaying and looked like he was in heaven," an attendee tells Us. "He was really, really into it. Katie was next to him doing her best to look as enthusiastic. She was clapping along with the song, but was totally out of sync. Suri was standing by, looking a little bemused in a cute little party dress."

Seated nearby, the Travolta and Preston -- still mourning the death of son Jett and dealing with a related extortion trial -- were more muted. "John and Kelly were holding hands throughout the performance," an onlooker says. "They look like a very united couple."

Later, during a reception, Cruise was overheard chatting with another American man about the protesters outside the venue. "They're squirrels," Cruise said angrily, according to a witness. "Stuck in an electronic incident. It makes me so angry!"

The family left the party around 11 p.m.; they have a home in nearby Dormans Park.

Cruise Hails Scientology at Secret Confab
http://www.newser.com/story/72185/cruis ... onfab.html

Quote:
(Newser) – Tom Cruise was one of the inspirational speakers at a secret Scientology confab in Britain, apparently attributing his success to his membership in the controversial organization.

Cruise was joined by Katie Holmes and daughter Suri, John Tavolta and Kelly Preston, and some 4000 other guests at the hush-hush international gathering in West Sussex.

"Because we never took our eyes off the prize, we stand where we are today," Cruise told the mob, Us reports. "We are in this together!"

As for protesters outside, Cruise snorted: "They're squirrels."

Aw, they missed off the "electronic incident" bit.

We are assured in the Comments by someone who did attend (St Hill staff member John Alex Wood) that Tom did not speak, and that the official attendance number was 7,000.

I'd have assumed this was fiction with the celebrities given their expected roles by the writer, except that no gossip hack would have made up that quote about the protesters. So maybe it was the Cruises in that absurd stretch limo!

There were squirrels in the trees - I saw them. Being foreign grey squirrels and not the native kind they were probably complaining about the bagpipe music and throwing nuts at Janet.

7000! Good grief. Are there 7000 Scienos in England? They must have cleaned out every org in the world to fly people in for the event.

Perhaps the squirrels outside were attracted by the nuts inside?
Usually squirrels, at least at this time of year, are gathering as many
nuts as they can put their little furry paws on. Storing them away
for a cold winter's day. In this case, however, they seem to be
intent on exposing the nuts rather than hiding them.

What makes me smile is the other Tom Cruise quote: "We are in this together!" as I picture him immediatey trodding ankle deep, in the pile of horse manure left behind by those horses they hired to re-enact the charging knights scene as seen in the PR blurb.

It never rains but it pours. Here's a related item, given its own thread:

The Boston Herald reports, and homes in on Tom Cruises "Squirrels" stuck in an "Electronic Incident" incident....

It's doing the rounds in the blogsphere quite nicely, e.g......

Not funny this one...

Travoltas Still Seeking Solace in Scientology?
http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/tra ... id=8879024

If Kelly Preston so much as thinks of promoting the CCHR/scientology agenda ever again she needs to be raked over the coals bythe media, parenting groups and austism associations. Her and Travolta are sick in the head.
