The next hearing, on Conditional Use Permit #04-023
(Narconon, 36491 Bouquet Canyon Road, Leona Valley),
is scheduled for the Los Angeles County
Regional Planning Commission on September 27th, 2006.
Hearings generally begin at 9AM, but as the room is small,
if you want a seat you should arrive well in advance.
The address is 320 West Temple Street, and the hearing
room is at the ground level of the 13-story County building.
Parking at the nearby cathedral is $14/day, and there
is the civic center station on the Metro Red Line subway nearby.
Supposedly the issues are limited to traffic, fire safety,
flooding/culverts. But the commissioners also have discretion
to allow wider issues into consideration. Notices to request
additional issues to be reviewed, can be sent to the
Planning staff c/o email:
zoningldcc@planning.co.la.ca.us
or by mail to:
Department of Regional Planning
Hall of Records (13th Floor)

(Add a reference to the CUP #04-023 on all correspondence,
and understand that the name and address you provide
will become a public record).
Issues related within the file itself, can be
reviewed at the 13th floor office on Monday through
Thursday, c/o planner James Bell (ph. 213-974-6443).

The Regional Planning Board May Approve New Bouquet Narconon Facility
The Regional Planning Board will hear the case for a controversial rehabilitation center in Bouquet Canyon September 27.
Narconon, an international organization often associated with the Church of Scientology, is proposing a facility near the Angeles National Forest.
Originally approved in March, the facility was referred back to the Planning Board after concerns with access and the effect of a flood plane that sits on a part of the site.
