Narconon Zutphen (Netherlands) under enhanced surveillance

Clinic under enhanced surveillance

Inspection for Health care ANP
Monday 24 Jun 2013

Narconon in Zutphen has been put under enhanced supervision for six months. According to the Health Care Inspectorate (IGZ) there are risks for the safety of patients.

The clinic is not allowed to take anymore patients with addiction problems and / or serious psychological or psychiatric problems, the IGZ writes on his site.

Grateful

The Inspectorate had received complaints about care at Narconon. Based on its findings, doubts arose during unannounced visits whether the institution is able to fulfill appointments they have with the Inspectorate.

"If Narconon still is a risk to patients safety, during and after the six months of increased surveillance, the inspection is considering other measurements, or will advise the Minister of Health to give a special order," writes IGZ.

Narconon uses a program based on the ideology of the Church of Scientology. Narconon writes on his site: "We are the Church of Scientology also grateful for the help and support we received from them over the years."

I wrote this up earlier this week; first a short version for Tony Ortega at The Underground Bunker:

Then a longer version at Infinite Complacency:

Dutch officials have put Narconon on warning that they are under
“enhanced supervision” – and could even face closure – after spot checks
raised concerns about patient safety.

Now the director of the Narconon centre concerned, Scientologist Joanna Kluessien,
has joined the exchanges in the comments section, which makes a pleasant change
from being ignored.

Just up at Infinite Complacency, a follow-up
to last month's piece on the troubles at the Dutch
Narconon operation.

Since the director of the centre there chose to get
involved for what turned out to be a fairly extensive
debate, it seemed a shame not to build a separate
piece out of it.

Thanks for my regular visitors for keeping the dialogue
going for so long.

The director of Narconon in the Netherlands responded
to our story about the Dutch authorities' tighter supervision
of her operation, providing a unique perspective on the affair.
