Thanks so much for all this information. Sadly, we have lost a family member to the wonderful world of Scientology, as she has become a robot. A non-responsive, disconnected robot.

My first introduction to Scientology was in about 1958 or 59, when I was about 13 or 14 years old. My oldest sister dragged me to a meeting at A.E. Van Vogt's house in Hollywood. I was impressed with that because I was reading a lot of Science Fiction, and knew who he was. My sister knew nothing of SF, but was really into Dianetics. Previously, she had gotten into the UCLA nursing program, but had problems and was not allowed to continue, so she moved home and became a secretary and discovered Dianetics. I think she liked the attention she got through the auditing.

My parents had been missionaries and a few months after that experience, I came home to find her in the back yard, ripping up all of her Dianetics materials. She declared that Dianetics was all from the devil. She flipped and went the other way, becoming an ultra-fundamentalist Christian, which she still is.

To me, that's almost as misguided, but at least it doesn't cost as much. She's in her 70s now.

Read the Wikipedia entry on what happened to Van Vogt when he left Scientology.

I just thought the movement was a bit weird, and, as I later studied psychology and read up on psychiatry, I realized that L. Ron just stole a lot of ideas and rebranded everything to his own twisted goals and financial gain.

LRH got the editor of Astounding Science Fiction, the premier SF magazine, John W. Campbell, to endorse Dianetics. Campbell liked to play devil's advocate for some really whacky theories, and I've been told that his support for Dianetics was something he regretted, but on a quick search online there's no mention of it.

Shortly after I moved into my present home, I discovered that my neighbor, then retired, had been an aspiring SF writer. He told me that he had gone to a meeting in Phoenix that Hubbard in the early '50s when Hubbard was living there. He was a reader of Astounding, and familiar with Dianetics, and interested. My neighbor said that Hubbard told people, stick with me and you'll get rich. At the end of the talk, he watched LRHs behavior while he was talking to all the acolytes, and came to the conclusion that Hubbard was an evil, manipulating man. Hubbard who would effusively accept a cup of coffee from someone, listen to what they were saying intently, validate what that person said, and quietly dispose of the cup at the same time. He watched LRH do this repeatedly and listened to what he was saying. I know, that sounds lightweight for basing an opinion, but I believe my neighbor.

Thanks to all the people who invest their time in Operation Clambake. My early exposure to Scientology was my inoculation.

I love the group anonymous... i'm impressed. It's good what you all do... and what wikileaks does for us. There is a lot of thinks we've to know about our own gouverment.
They keep hidding this for us, so we would think there is nothing on in the world.
But open your eyes, don't believe anything of what they are saying.
I'm from the Dutch people...
Pim Fortuyn has been killed because he want to be open to the people. That's why the gouverment off the Nederlands want him death. Yeah it's a long time ago, but still.
We've to change the world for a better world.
But how did you get a better world?
to create first choas and them to bring the peace..!

Thank you all

It has been some time since I sent all the papers, KR reports and such to Dave. I was very concerned about the activities I had witnessed after being hired in from the outside. There were many things that I wanted to speak out about but feared being sued. I actually did receive a letter from the Stone Hawk attorneys after the letter from Kate. They tried to block my unemployment also. They never showed up to the hearing in that case and the Judge stated that their unjustified termination of my employment had broken the confidentiality agreement that I had signed when I began my employment. They quit most harassment after that. I did continue to have a lot of internet issues for about a year after that though. It seemed that every email account I used, to speak out about the Scientology/Narconon connection and the abuses those people suffered in their fake treatment, were hacked and information changed. I still encounter Narconians that treat me with ill will due to my speaking the truth. I travel by the "church" almost daily and it makes me feel ill. I am glad that there are still groups of people trying to speak out against L Ron's fantasy brainwashing crew. Per still has a treatment facility at the lake but it is not a Narconon facility even though he still uses a lot of the "tech. Albion still has a Narconon even though it closed and reopened. I use word of mouth a lot in the community of Battle Creek to keep people aware of what is still going on. I still don't understand how a cult can get away with all the things they have done. If an individual had done even a fraction of those crimes they would be in prison for life. Thanks everyone for continued support of the cause. PEJ

My name is Nathan. My "area of expertise" is actually Mormons, but I was looking for some Mormon manuals in Half-Price Books and picked up a copy of DMSMH. Looking for more information. This website has some great stuff. I teach classes on cults and fringe religions at my church (I'm Lutheran). I think I'll research some more and do something on Scientology. Christians are supposed to fight evil wherever it is found, and if anything qualifies as evil, it's Scientology.

To former CoS members: I know you may be put off from religion entirely, but as a Christian I feel like I should tell you that there are religions out there that are not cultic, as you may or may not know. I do give money to my church, but it gives more back, tangibly. I don't want to lecture or pressure; y'all have had enough of that to last a lifetime probably. Just a friendly word of advice about religion, don't throw out the baby with the bathwater. Regardless, God bless all of you in the struggle against this evil organization.

Thanks for your courage,
Nathan

I realy support all that anonymous is about, and wish to follow more. The only problem is that i have no connections to other anonymous members, thus rendering me incapable of staying up to date with political and social actions. I would LOVE to join other anonymous members in protests against sciontology, governmental controll, and greedy corperations. I wish to talk to all, if any have a facebook account or would like to email me, my facebook is john mattsol, and my email is modernguyfawk@gmail.com

If anyone friends me on facebook or emails me, somewhere say the words "We are" and ill know ur not just some random person. I will love to talk to any one anonymous, but i would realy enjoy those with programing and hacking experience, i started teaching myself C++, but i would enjoy some pointers and comments. Thank you, John Mattsol, aka SkArEkRoW

Thank you for your site. It is very informative and all very well researched. I'm not a Scientologist and never will be. I would like to thank you for what you are doing. The more people informed, less people that Scientology can try to con. Keep going and fight on. One day this evil corporation called Scientology will fail and burn in flames.

No honesty should ever be expected !!!

I live locally to the Clearwater CofS and have seen their progression there since the 1970s. They were deceptive when purchasing the Ft. Harrison Hotel, their first building there. Back then they used to have a sign out front that said "United Churches of Florida", their cover group name. My minister at the time said he was approached by someone from this group, offering him free radio time if he would join up. He declined.

When I worked at the courthouse, a local lawyer told me he was approached to represent CofS, but he was turning it down because he had young children and he was afraid of what might happen.

They own many buildings downtown, and members are always walking from one building to the next. The city has a downtown bypass marked now so you don't have to go by it all. It was quite a mess before they finally finished the new building they are supposed to pay the $400K fine on.

I like this site to keep up to date on what's really going on with them. It's nice to see that most people see through it. I truly feel sorry for those that were brought up in it, like Lisa Marie Presley, and others who are not rich and famous. It is well known that they go for folks with money. They have a "mission" in Belleair Bluffs, an upscale area near Clearwater, and they send out invitations to visit them in the junk mail.

Thanks for the site, and this guest book.
