"Scientology is a scam. Scientologists lie to themselves and others. They
are mentally ill, made so through scientology. Don't expect them to
answer any questions that challenge their system honestly.
Scientologists are not capable of honesty, they are that mentally ill.
You will not get these questions resolved by scientologists themselves
on this newsgroup. "Scientology" and "mental illness" are
interchangeable terms. You would not expect a sensible answer from a
madman. Therefore do not expect one from a Scientologist."

To realize that you do not understand is a virtue; Not to realize that you do not understand is a defect.
~Lao Tzu

Treat those who are good with goodness, and also treat those who are not good with goodness. Thus goodness is attained. Be honest to those who are honest, and be also honest to those who are not honest. Thus honesty is attained.
~Lao Tzu

Saul of Tarsus

1 Corinthians
Chapter 13

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.

And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.

If I give away all I have, and if I deliver my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude.

Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;
it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right.

Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never ends; as for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.

For our knowledge is imperfect and our prophecy is imperfect but when the perfect comes, the imperfect will pass away.

When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; when I became a man, I gave up childish ways.

For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall understand fully, even as I have been fully understood.

So faith, hope, love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

"The most obvious and cynical redefinition done by Hubbard was to redefine
"ethics" in terms of both production and loyalty to the Scientology
organization. So a Scientolgist considers themselves "ethical" if their
stats are high and they are in good standing with their "Church" (i.e.
making money and contributing to Scientology). They will help ruin a person
critical of them and some will even kill a critic's pet as a deterent and
all the while they consider themselves to be "ethical" people doing
"ethical" actions. Their whole inherent sense of decency has been corrupted
and degraded." - Roland

"Who was Hubbard? A pathological liar. A Pseudoscientist.
A thief and conman. A savage wife beating, wife torturing sadist.
A drug addict. A heavy drinker. A cult leader.

He wrote works on marriage, and yet he abandoned a wife and two small
children after WWII to go play sex magician at a Crowelyite OTO temple.
He was breifly bigamously married. He beat both of his first two wives
mercilessly and tortured them purposeful, apparently he tried to get his
second wife to commit suicide. He got Mary Sue Hubbard to run his cult
spy and dirty tricks organization the Guardian Organization, and when she
got caught following his orders, he callously abandoned her to her fate,
5 years in prison and ran and hid in the desert like a hunted animal.

And this creature had the gall to write a book on marriage?
Wife beating Ron." - Pope Charles

"If the biggest thing a 'clam' has to complain about
is being called a relatively harmless member of the
mollusk family, then he/she doesn't have much to
complain about. I can't be a clam, because the
Scientologists call me "suppressive." What they
mean by that is they want people to think I'm a
sexually perverted killer who is out to drive
everybody insane, like Hitler or Manson." - Joe Cisar

"Would someone please tell me why reworking/or otherwise reformulating
Hubbard's system is more logical than simply going to Hubbard's (or
other) sources for the straight scoop--sources with a refreshing
absense of his insane bias and self-serving motives? If someone is
really seeking a higher truth, why would he/she compromise with even
a small part of Hubbard's twisted philosophy? Why defend the
sentiments/viewpoints/attitudes of a confirmed psychopath or seek to
hold on to them in any way?" - Caroline
