Lost password: $5.00

Personal abuse complaints: 20.00

Can't see the discussion board or the Factnet website, investigation charge: 10.00

Removing one's own posts (if it doesn't work when trying it oneself) with Administrator's help: 20.00

applying for reinstatement if banned: 90.00 (success not guaranteed)

Watching them defeat their own purposes (allegedly, for discussion)- priceless!

They take Paypal!

They do also state that if a person wants to try to obtain one of these services for free, then they will try to get a volunteer to do it....

LOL....like anyone would want to pay to post there or even read practically nothing. If I want to talk to myself, I can do it for free. If I want info about Scientology, the FNMB isn't the place to get it. The Scientology section is, for all extents and purposes....D E A D.

And no, contrary to the BS that has been spread....I didn't kill it.

Oh, it's true.

I didn't see any sign of that outrageous "$90.00 to determine the purity of your posts" bulletin, though. Maybe all the bad PR it got here and on ARS made them remove it.

F.A.C.T.net Forum Rules
Heh, presumably it's a way to get some cash. Nothing wrong with that per se.. But it's also a way to regulate traffic. It does say, in addition to the fees for lost pw/complaints/deletions and help, that if one doesn't want to pay you wait until the workload lessens and some 'volunteer' gets around to it.

So you don't have to pay anything!

That's how I read it anyway. It's also a call for volunteer moderators/techies on the site. Tommy Gorman is doing that for the Cof$ section I think(?).

Here on OCMB Andreas is the (sole?) 'volunteer' and he does this kind of stuff when he gets time and/or the inclination. Difference being that there's no fees we can pay to speed up the process. Hmm.. For all I know Andreas pays for webhosting and everything himself too, which I don't think is quite fair actually.

We should support FACTnet and post there I think. Revitalize it instead of gloating over the current lull in activity. I'd hate to see the forum die out.

To be able to do that, one has to be registered. I, on invitation by Tommy, am trying now, for a month or so, to get an activation key, but never got it. Don't they want me?

Me too actually... I registered, but never received the return mail with my pw. Could be coz' my mail was borked a couple of days due to nameserver troubles. Heh.. I better mail a request for a new pw, and wait for someone to get around to it.

The flaw with that is the 90.00 to get one's case heard after being banned when, in several cases, no breach of the rules took place.

And even then there's no guarantee of reinstatement.

First of all: the whole $ thing is complete BS. $5 for a lost password retrieval when those things can be automated!?

That being said, why are you complaining about it here on OCMB Opinion & Debate?

Because I, as one of many, can not post on Factnet?

Because we've already been discussing it on OCMB.

Because it pertains to the critic's scene. OCMB is a critical forum.

Because it's interesting as well.

I wasn't "complaining". I was discussing.

Right. A number of people on this forum have some involvement in that situation either as having been banned , can't get activated, or are taking part in the Factnet Admin actions.

Certainly worthy of discussion.

This thread is the stepchild of the thread Arnie Lerma put up to claim that certain people had been banned and their posts had been deleted from Factnet Message Boad.

Lerma's attack thread and the false accusations it contained focused attention on Factnet MB. People are, IMO, just trying to figure out what's going on at Factnet MB. And what appears to be going on.....or NOT going on.....seems, to say the least, very weird.

Well, Larry the Loon has his own "alternative religion" now.

Be sure and check out his "donations" section.

If you can't spare a few thousand, a car or a boat will have to do.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't see that in the F.A.C.T.net Forum Rules.. Maybe they removed it. I would have, so that's my guess.

Seneschal, talking about a (once) important Message Board in the Cof$ critic community is relevant. You could even say that OCMB is one reason for the low traffic there... OCMB being more popular all of a sudden. Like a fad really, nothing wrong with Factnet. Another reason was a decision to make IP adresses visible on Factnet. That created a scream of outrage and an exodus. Because OSA likes to know everything, including IP adresses. Conversely critics likes for OSA to know nothing... IP adresses seems to be hidden once again at Factnet though.

With regard to UMike, Tigger and BOF's posts at factnet being deleted and those three banned indefinitely.. Well, that's a mistake imo! - Shouldn't be done... Too like old L.Ron Hubbwadr throwing a fit or something.

Looks like it ain't being done. That's good!
