Post subject: ALTERING another OCMB members post?
PostPosted: Fri Aug 08, 2008 3:56 am
I have just witnessed OCMB member WhiteRose, alter another OCMB members post.

This type of behavior may fly over on EO, but i dearly hope this does not become the norm here on Clambake.

To "Quote"another individuals comment, add to it to suit your agenda is not what OCMB is all about IMHO.

This "FIXED THAT FOR YOU", byline is IMHO disgusting.

Tory. This is the same behavior i have come to see as common place on EO. That and the sanitization and editing of posts within TD to placate the agenda of a few malcontents.

I hope a Mod is here to quell this sad attempt at manipulation. We all have been witness to the harm, this type of behavior has wrought on both you and others.

And while i,m at it. I will reiterate.

I trust Tory with both my full name and telephone number. Tory's track record as an outspoken critic, IMO speaks for itself.

Tory earned my respect and trust long before all this Anon paranoia came along.

If you truly believe in your individual reason for railing against $cientology, you would be proud of your name, your stance and who you are!

Just look around you for a moment. Look and see all the brave individual's who use their name in their efforts to expose scientology for what it is.

Yeah, um, Gumby...?

I'm bending over, kissing my knees, & apologizing for getting you so fired up by using the "fix'd" thing over in the "So? Don't Believe Me?" thread... so if you'd direct some of your attention over there... well, I'd appreciate it.

Thx.

And Tory, honey? You might want to see this too.

Gumby, not sure what you are trying to say here. Are you saying those who do not use their names in the efforts to expose scientology are not brave?

My last hurrah, Jerald.

I am genuinely sorry. I never meant to upset Gumby.

I'm going home. This just isn't working out. I'm tired, frustrated, and ruined the end of a perfect evening with my kids by coming here.

I'm sad. That's all. Just sad.

Whiterose: *I* was not offended. Gumby: she said sorry. Ultimately it's up to Andreas and Roan to bring down the banhammer if it's really an issue but I for one don't think it is. imho and all that.

I get the point about the cultural differences, but really it should be case by case. Changing a few words, and bolding them, is not the same as blanking out the whole post and inserting instead "i am a huge raging homo" or the most offensive, debate killing and counterproductive one:

"janedoe wrote: words"

*hug* to both of you. There will be moments this fight will make you cry. I've had a few myself. There will be moments you will want to smash your head on the keyboard until it is but a bloody pulp (I'll spare you the gif). All part and parcel. It all comes down to: how much sheer cussedness do you have?

Don't give up.

I accept WR,s apology. Yet i stand by my above comment. this is how i feel. like it or not.

Straight-away, this a bunch of crap, Gumby. People say, "Fixed" all the time after they have quoted another. That's why they say, "Fixed", for CS. It's an expression of how they (the "fixer") thinks the post <should> have read, and why they say, "fixed", and why they re-quote. How stupid do you think we are????

Now I am really interested in all of this. Now my flags are up.

Why can't you guys just let it unfold? What are you so worried about!?

I have to disagree. I have done quite a bit against Scientology but I stay anonymous because I care for my family and do not want them harassed/hectored by the cult. I truly believe in my reasons against Scientology but my anonymous work behind the scenes should not hold any less weight or merit because I want to protect those I know.

Does this make me any less of a critic? Any less effective?

I agree with you. While there do need to be public faces in this fight it's up to each of us to decide if that's what they are going to do. Those who chose to be anonymous are no less a critic than those of us who do not.
