Again, if you look over the last 3 pages of "Your Story" Tommy's spam posts are at the end of every single thread. No one wants to follow someone who effectively takes a dump on your thread.

I've seen at least 8 attempts where people have tried to reason with Tommy, and his response is always some--"lol, hahahaha" deranged bullshit.

As you can imagine, it's hard not to take it personally when your telling your personal story and someone repeatedly ignores your request to respect your thread, and they continue to disrepect you--it's something the Cult of $cientology does--It's creepy, and it needs to stop.

I've felt for a long time that this section (only) of OCMB could use an active moderator. Not the rest of the board.. no way, no thank you. But this section, yes. Perhaps an anonymous moderator account for this section only is set up. Old timers here could put in "service terms," assuming the mantle of Moderator for periods of say... 6 mos. at a time. Then the next person steps up.

I get the feeling that more and more people are wanting to speak up here. It really could be a thriving section. I think that people who want to post their story want to do it in more than one place. Not a competition thing, it's just all about reaching lurkers and reaching more audience. If someone is posting their story just here, I'd encourage them to post @ ESMB as well. The more the merrier, I say.

Hell, I'd volunteer to moderate for awhile! (howls of protest are heard coming from the gypsy camp!)

I don't know how welcome my opinion will be here but I'll give it anyway.

I think the section could be cleaned up pretty easily by just removing the existing spam. You'd need to be fairly ruthless about it as there is quite a lot there. Tommy would also have to refrain from posting more, or at least be educated on what's suitable/expected etc.

As far as moderation goes, I've learnt that a little goes a long way. You'd only really be concerned with keeping the threads spam free and the new posters free from personal ridicule.

I also think that an anonymous moderator is the way to go. That way nobody can use any personal agendas against him/her and that person is still free to post under their own nick in the other sections.

Roan, I think you'd be fine as a moderator. From my experience there are very few who actually *want* the job and who are also capable of doing it. If you did it under your own nick you'd need a tough skin, which by now I'm sure you have There are several others here who could also do it well.

The Personal Stories section from OCMB is legendary. Don't give up on it but do press home the need for change. In the meantime maybe Tommy can help correct this by going back and either deleting or editing his posts that have caused a lot of this problem. Maybe someone (Roan ) who seems to want to take responsibility, could take Tommy under their wing and help him fix the damage.

I post how the cult is trying to use the top soccer guy to recruit proplr in the cult to be slaves. How scientology gets people to sign gags to stop communication from happen since the cult has so much to hide. How scientology puts people in jail fpr no real reason.

Tommy, you are harming the stories that other people are telling.

That is what people are trying to tell you.

There are some excellent stories here, that are helping people, and it doesn't help telling a DIFFERENT story in the middle of a thread.

I realise your intentions are good but you post the same thing over and over and flood the messageboard with what amounts to spam.

You don't post anything that hasn't been posted by you 100 times before, and you post it many many times on one thread and effectively kill that thread.

I don't know how to explain this to you in one post. That's why I was hoping that someone who you respect might take you aside and help you clean up the mess you don't even realise you are making.

The right way to tell the harms of $cientology here on this message board is to write good posts and partake in the debate!

The wrong way is to plug advertisements in every thread.

If a subject (like Henson, Beha and Beckham) is important to you, then present your well thought out (as good as you can make 'em) views in a relevant thread. This will most often be in another section than Personal Stories.

There is no guarantee that everyone will think a subject is interesting. So your posts might not become the hottest item on the board. That's the deal! - You can't force things down the throaths of people!

Hmm.. Beha.. He got a legal gagorder. He encourages us to tell the story again. Wording his posts with some care so as to maneuever around the gag-order... Well we did tell it again! - It's done for this time.. Let that rest for a while. Unless there is real news.

Henson.. That is watched closely by everybody I'm sure. We don't need advertisements in this section. There is a most satisfying thread about that and people are working behind the scenes.

Beckham.. Man! - Don't panic on that. DM's newest recruit project is going to flap his face good! - Beckham will either join, and there will be a media blitz about the harms of $cientology.. Or he won't join, and there will be a media blitz about why not and when. Beckham has become the worlds pet scientology suspect, and that ain't getting Cof$ any raw meat... you are preaching to the converted, we all know all about the evil of the cult, no-one who is casually passing by cuts straight to this forum without reading all the critisism of the cult on the main pages, there isn't anyone here you need to convey your message to, you are better off doing more picketts/campaigning, handing out leaflets, etc to those who don't know this site even exists, not telling people who have been here for years what they already know

Same thing happened on Factnet. On a thread about the death of Toney (and, yes, I know some people think he was a sock puppet. My point still holds true regardless...) he came in with the same cut and pasted commentary re Scn. And on the FZ thread.

Rather than, say, maybe posting something about Toney being affected by his involvement in Scn or how the FZ sucks or what he does or doesn't like about it and why.

There's no denying he has something to say and his own story to tell re Scn and CofS.

But he should actually post accordingly.

If the point related to what the other person was describing, it could have worked out.

Like if someone wrote about a really bad recruitment cycle in CofS, and Tommy were to come in and say oh it happened to me too, and the guy told me this and did that...

But cut and paste stuff that is being put in many other places would tend to distract.

Of course, there was Tommy's commentary on a certain person Who Must Not Be Named (according to you, anyway ) but even that was cut and paste and it was another thread derailment...
