Tigger, you are a smart and tenacious person. Please direct your efforts toward exposing the crimes of the cult. Please?

That is what she is doing (re: overwhelming amount of new requests).

I don't know if her suspicion is correct BUT she has grabbed this task and is making a point.

Thanks, Tigger. :)

Yes you are correct PG, and so is Tigger. I am sure there are many reasons OCMB gets lots of requests and does not allow many new members.

Seriously, if I were Andreas I would wonder about WTF I got myself in to starting this message board! Kudos to AHL for doing what he has done, especially the main page and documents are incredibly valuable.

I was not tying to insult anyone...I was just suggesting that perhaps Tiggers passion, devotion and intellelect might be better focused on the cult rather than on the critics.

I didn't think that you were trying to insult anyone. I am just discussing this subject with you (and Tigger). If it helps... pretend that we are discussing this subject in a friendly way in your living room.

Tigger IS referring to the cult. She suspects that this is cult spamming.

I tend to believe that it is a result of all the net media over the last year or so. But it could be a combination of both. Who knows? I don't.

Ladybird, Programmer Guy,

P. G., I think you got it.....By Jove, I think you got it.

No question.....Andreas did a wonderful job in creating OC & hosting OCMB for more than a decade and we owe him many thanks. The statistics I have been posting are not, in any way, to discredit him or anyone else here or this board.

My point is/was.....that "someone" or "some thing", whoever or whatever it may be, intentionally or unintentionally, is on a path to make OCMB "go away".

Can I prove that? No, but considering

1. There are more "registrations" per day than posts.

2. The huge backlog of "registrations" prohibits/prevents/whatever "new" people from "coming on board".

it certainly looks like someone or some thing has found a way to attack this MB, even if they can't post here.

So who's the winner, especially if 60-70 registrations a day continues and prevents any from being "enabled"?

I, for one, would like to know why it's happening, how it's happening, who, if anyone, is behind it and what, if anything, can be done about it.

ESMB and WWP do not seem to have this problem and they have become just as, if not more, popular than OCMB (due, in part, to new people not being able to post on OCMB). Perhaps they have a system in place to immediately address problems before they get too big to handle. It's become too big a job on OCMB for one or even two people to handle.

Plus it's really pissed off a lot of legitimate people who wanted to post here.

I'm basically technically clueless, but is there some tech program that could be installed? If there is or some other way to do it, perhaps the backlog could be dumped and registrations start anew?
Perhaps we, the current posters, could donate a few bucks for such a program, if one exists?

Any other suggestions?

Tigger

Last Week's "REGISTRATIONS".......586

Lasst Week's POSTS.............................308

278 more "registrations" than posts.

Some things to think about:

Every week there are 500 plus "registrations"
Apparently no registrations have been "enabled" for almost a year. If anyone's registration has been "enabled".....
meaning you can post here.......since April, 2008, please say so.

So why would all these people register and continue to register at about the same rate, which is always almost double the number of posts?

Reporters used to come to OCMB to ask for information and/or help for their articles.
Now, any reporter unless he/she was previously registered (before Mayl, 2008)
apparently can not post on OCMB. The
only way such inquires can get here is when someone, who can post here, transfers their
posts from somewhere else.

Tigger
