From this on WWP:

This refers to the building at 1 Griswold, Detroit municipality.

through Google to be when the owner gives up interest in the property and it goes up for a sheriff's sale. It usually comes
about from when the owner is behind on their real estate taxes.

http://www.michigan.gov/documents/3626f_2989_7.pdf <-- According to this it's due to the owner not paying
property taxes. Looks like they've done this two years in a row (2009 and 2010). Interestingly, the second forfeiture is
dated just one month after the certificate of redemption. This document states that if they haven't payed by the 31th of
March they will "have no further right to redeem." One can only assume that means they'll be kicked out of the building at
that point.

Interestingly, the Certificate of Redemption was dated almost a year after the first forfeiture took place. One can only
assume that they worked something out, so by these numbers, it looks like the Church has until the 20th of Feb, 2011 (just
over a month) to pay all outstanding taxes etc. in order to maintain an interest in the property. Are they still operating out
of this address?

do is pay their back taxes and they get ownership back. Wonder if they'll manage it this time. I'd keep an eye on this site if
I were in Michigan.
