As much as it pains me to say it, Serge was making pipe bombs to injure or kill other people. His capacity to maim and kill has been signifigantly diminished, and in that fact there is a small justice.

IMO, Serge was a product of the cult of scientology. Scientology teaches hate.

**************************************
P A R A P H R A S E D
***************************************
Any short sentence fragments are FAIR USE

Beginning of paraphrases from L. Ron Hubbard, founder and
sole prophet of Scientology from PR series 18:

Black Propaganda" (black = bad or derogatory,
propaganda = spread claims or ideas with emphasis) is the
expression which is used to destroy public opinion or
respect of persons, corporations or nations.

It is a practical tool of forces who are trying to destroy real
or imagined enemies or who want to obtain dominance in
an area.

This technology attempts to so disparage a reputation that
the person, corporation or nation is refused every right
through "general agreement." It is then possible to destroy
the person, corporation or nation with a smaller operation if
Black Propaganda has not already done that.

Malicious and mendacious gossip of old wives was the
earlier form of this tactic; it was so evil that, in some areas,
they were put in the public stocks (neck chains) or driven
out of the city.

In modern times, there is no keeping Black Propaganda in
check. Legal proceedings for slanderous gossip are too
expensive and too difficult to carry out, and the press law is
so misused that anybody can use this kind of campaign.

All you need is an enemy.

[...]

One is always running into people in society who do not
understand very much. That expresses itself as sort of an
evil joy about things. These people forward on slanderous
rumors very easily. There are a great number of these
people in an uneducated society. Since they are
not able to read, the greatest part of knowledge has been
denied them. And since they do not recognize very many
words, they do not understand much of what is said to
them.

But that does not just apply to the illiterate.

What they do not understand, they make up for in
imagination.

Therefore such people do not only listen to slander, but
they falsify and pervert it even more.

In this manner can a rumor that has no true basis go through
society.

[...]

No person, society or nation has a completely clean slate.
That has been reserved for saints. In their childhood people
stole a couple of apples, broke a window or two, dinged a
fender, took a joy ride with a "borrowed" vehicle or took a
few pennies or a lollipop although it did not belong to them.

[...]

All these things can make someone susceptible to attacks
on his career or regarding his past.

[... In the next segment, it almost appears as if L. Ron Hubbard
was describing himself, Scientology and Scientologists ...]

The world is full of insane people.

The fundamental characteristic of extreme insanity is
continuing attack: attacks on everything, attacks on persons
or things which contain no threat.

Serious, not minor, crimes can be found at the root of such
urges.

The attacker has an evil intention in life. He belongs to the
dead, not to the living. And his harvest is a harvest of death.

Such a person has the feeling that he cannot be secure until
all others are dead.

Their evil intentions take many forms and means of
expression. The end product is the same - Death.

When an attacker has gone too far, then he is himself
attacked. Long, bitter quarrels and wars between nations
are both the mutual exchange of violence.

If an attacker does not have the physical means to annihilate
others, and if his own goals would fail if they were to be
exposed, then the attacks are conducted covertly.

He uses verbal propaganda, the press and other channels of
communication to inject his poison. He hides himself as the
source and he has his verbal attacks appear to be logical,
real or proven.

[...]

That is Black Propaganda. It serves to humiliate real or
imagined enemies, to decrease their income to deprive them
of friends and support.

First and foremost, if there is "blame" to be placed in a situation like this, I blame his parents.

supercreep,

Who's to say "why" he was making pipe bombs. My knowledge of all the details is limited. He could have been make bombs to blow up mail boxes. To say he making pipe bombs with the intention to kill or maim is an assumption. You know what they say about assumptions.

Regardless, the point of me telling this story wasn't to degrade Serge. I made a point of saying he was a nice guy. He unfortunately just didn't fit in, and as a conscequence, he was shunned by people who, if they cared just a little bit, could have stopped this senseless trajedy.

Again, if they weren't following the policies of a fat pampered dickhead, they could have done something for Serge. Evidently, sucking Tom Cruise's cock was more important than helping Serge get his head put on strait. That's all I'm saying.

To me, those guys at CC Int and PAC are intimately connected to this trajedy because I've watched the way staff are churned and burned around there--I was one of them.

Lulu-belle, I love you dearly but sometimes you piss me off. I have friends and relatives who did everything right and gave their kids everything...the best education, the most stable of homes, the dream childhood, and their kids didn't turn out perfect. None of us are perfect, and none of our lives were perfect.

Scientology tips the scales though. A kid like Serge might have had a chance in the real world.

I watched a PBS special on kids in orphanages during the Great Depression, and most had fond memories of the experience. I doubt any Sea Org kids would say the same.

It is one thing to be an orphan, and another thing entirely to be abandoned. You are correct IMO that many Sea Org parents abandoned their children. BUT...that was the culture, and I saw and handled many situations where parents were upset because family time got cancelled AGAIN or when people wanted to leave because of concerns about their children. 1 hour per day is not enough, and even that got cancelled often. I personally covered peoples posts or took kids on my libs and I gave custody (I HAD custody) of my own kids to my SP ex so they would not have to live at the QI.

It is the whole "greatest good for the greatest number of dynamics" crap, and "children are thetans in small bodies" crap and "every thetan is responsible for their own condition" crap and the KSW "we are the only hope of mankind, ...the future of every man woman and child on this planet" crap that every scientologist believes that creates the culture where this kind of crap goes on. I truly believe that there must be hypnotism and mind control to make otherwise intelligent people act like they do while under the influence of scientology.

Don't let scientology off the hook. Scientology is a scam devolped by a scammer.

Look at Hubbards children...why aren't they perfect...or even alive. There is your answer to "Scientology Works."

You are spouting the scientology think that everyone is responsible for their own condition.

This attitude does not leave much room for forgivness.

Neil,

There were people while I was in that I considered friends. I don't know anything about their whereabouts--I'm sorry that you discovered what happened to your friend through me.

There's was also quite a few people who I considered friends when I first joined, and as time went on, they grew into bigger and bigger assholes--they became bigger assholes to the degree that they became indoctrinated in L. Rons "teachings." Serge wasn't one of those people.

He was a nice guy--probably because he didn't spend a lot of time "on course."

Tory,

Thank you for your kind words.

Ladybird,

Thank you also; and for reminding me about Warrior's XSO group. I'll join it as soon as I sort out a Yahoo account.

In the meantime, could you please do me a favour and post mr-bads original post on the XSO message board?

mr_bad,

There is no need for you to feel upset for telling us what happened to Serge.

It was right that you posted it here.

If the tale of Serge's sad sad misfortune can disuade even one person from joining this terrible cult, then at least a tiny flicker of light can come from this.

Mick Wenlock started and runs the XSO group. He posts here often and I am sure he would be happy to help you and Mr. Bad get set up.

To Join XSO and network to old Sea Org friends:

I am sorry, but I am doing my best to stay anon, and very few people on XSO know that I am Ladybird. So I can't really post some one elses story from here over there. It is a great place to catch up with old friends.

Warrior's website is a treasure trove of information, he has a better memory than I do, and has alot of inside SO references and stories on his site.

I think stories like Serge's need to be told to everyone, it is outrageous what scientology does to people and the whole world needs to know it. Especially all those CC INT Hollywood members who don't give a passing thought that they are being served by Sea Org slaves.

If we can prevent even one tragedy like this from happening to anyone else all our efforts will be worthwhile.

Serge worked entirely in the large Galley, which was down in the basement.

Since Serge was on the Night Shift, and all the other kitchen workers were day shift, this meant he worked entirely alone, completely isolated from the other 200 staff at CC.

Absoluetly, no one talked to Serge in a social sense. His only communication with the other crew was if someone barked orders at him.

I was his only friend. We had quite a lot in common - but mainly the fact that we were both Outsiders, ostracised by all the other staff, and left to rot on the night rota.

We were both graveyard shift for the whole of 1992, thru to Jan/Feb 93. 12 months plus.

My cleaning section was the public areas - vacuming around the hotel lobby area, office corridors. Mopping the public restrooms.

Our work schedules were brutal and there wasn't much leeway for quality time. But Serge and I would still illicitly sit and have a secret smoke - out of view of the security cameras, on the back steps of the galley which led up the back to the Trash area.

I remember Serge, from around the Big Blue, in the '90s.

This is very, very sad.

Many of my friends who were around 16-21 at the time were raised in the Sea Org. I heard their horror stories, late at night while sneaking over to Fat Burger, or while hanging out in the old laundry room (anyone remember that dump?)

One of my dearest friends, who I still talk to sometimes, was one of six or seven kids from one mom- she rotated husbands every few years. She was lucky her uncle rescued her when she was 5, standing in one of the berthing buildings in a dirty man's t-shirt watching over her six month old brother while her mother slaved away at the AO.

A normal person brought up in the all American family would not believe the stories. They are incredible. It is good that the Sea Org doesn't allow people to have babies anymore, but we should all remember that parents are allowed to join when their youngest child is 10 years old and that child is made a Sea Org member at that point- school a few hours a day and then post for them. That is still a reality. There are still children in the Sea Org.

I feel pity for Serge, and I hope that he is ok, wherever he is now.

I love Fatburger!! Especially the one you're talking about. Man, those burgers kick ass.

And yes, conditions were incredibly shitty.
