I'm new here and on the down low. I was in scientology all of my life. I graduated from a scientology school (which shall remain nameless for now  ) But yeah I'm OUT!!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!!! I'm still quite angry, but I'm working through it. How do you like my user name? Nu_Wog. AND LOVING IT!!!!

My wife still considers herself a scientologist altho she is not active and has no plans of ever going on course or anything. At least not in the near future. She is very cool about my apostasy, thank god. So I keep quite and haven't asked for a refund altho I really really really want to!!!!! But I rather not have my family ripped apart. Call me sentimental....

Anyway, I'm a professional musician. I tour all over the world and play the biggest stages (and little ones too) in the world (I'm not Billy Sheehan. Dont get excited...). But I need to upgrade my gear and boy if I can get rid of my un-used, immaculate, MARK VII E-meter and a "Countess Crack" print that would be SO great. Anyone here know where, how I can sell this stuff? Scientologists and SPs welcome! LOL! (Joke) Seriously. I dont care who wants to buy it....

Thank you. I only know about 2 ex scinos so its been kinda lonely.... So I look forward to meeting some other Wogus Novus....

Hello Nu_Wog! Welcome to the Wog world. I hope you like it out here. You can say whatever you want (pretty much), think what you want, and even get to decide on your own who your facebook friends are.

Can you say what it was that "woke you up" or would that give away your identity? Maybe you can leave out the details, because it's always great to hear from people who are out (especially having been born into it) what it was that broke the spell.

In the meantime, welcome to Clambake.

PS Your real name doesn't rhyme with "heck" does it?

you can sell on craig's list, to indies on facebook or try ebay. unfortunately, you will never even get 1/2 what you paid for the meter...maybe not even 1/4. donating it to anonymous would provide lots of lulz if they mock the stress test tables.

CoS protests against e-meter sales on e-bay, so brace yourself for that.

Dear "Nu_Wog", Is that like Nu_Skin? LOL.

1. Welcome.
2. Good luck selling that useless piece on electronics you were sold for a small fortune! (sorry, I don't have much good advice there).
3. I hope we hear more from you, about you, or just an occasional comment here or there would be cool too!

P.S. Are you worried about the cult finding out that you are posting here? If you have family in, that could be a serious problem. Try and post as few personal details as possible. If they figure out who you are, maybe they can buy back that e-meter (at full price, of course) in exchange for you keeping quiet. Just a thought.

Congrats on leaving, and best of luck with your future challenges. CoS is really tightening the screws on people leaving, and is going full throttle on leveraging family members against those who depart. If your wife and/or family are completely unaware of this or to the degree they will be pressured, you might want to carefully warn them or give them a head's up.

The meter: eBay (but some have already mentioned there may have problems going that route), Craigslist is meh... I'd suggest going to the Indie crowd, to be honest. They'll want it, especially in pristine condition.

Word of advice/warning: the meters do have serials and/or other potential ways to trace back who sold it. If you genuinely don't care (which can end up being just as if you publicly announced leaving) , then whatever. However, if you can handle a little entheta (but not really, it is just e-meter innards), go to:

http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~dst/Secrets/E-Me ... index.html

There are photos of a mark VII after disassembly, with photos of at least some of the places where these numbers are found. In case you DO want to mask them or grind them off.
Best of luck!

Thanks for all your suggestions and the welcoming comments. I wrote a big reply telling my story, but it didn't seem to go up. I guess I did something wrong. It took a long time to write too. Oh well. Maybe when I get a bit more time I'll try again.

To answer some of the questions my name does not rhyme with "Heck". Remember people like "Heck" get a different scientology than the rest of us. So he'll probably stay in as long as they (Cos) keep cupping his satchel.

"I'd suggest going to the Indie crowd"-- Who are the Indie crowd?

Thanks again

Doug

Nuwog, sorry your long post got lost. When you're new, each post has to be approved for the first 3 posts. We try to get right on it, but it takes a while, but we have terrible spam problems, and this board would be full of junk otherwise. After 3, you're good to go.

I hope you submit it again, because people here love to hear stories of why people got out.

The "Indie" crowd is the group of people who have left the "church" but are still Scientologists. I.e., they still believe in "the tech." They tend to read Marty Rathbun's blog (himself an ex high level member of the church) because Marty still delivers services to the Indies (Independent Scientologists).

By the way, I like Heck's music, and hope he wakes up someday.
