This most bizarre legend of Scientology could be put in 6 words -- the Devil runs CoS.

The source of the legend is Hubbard himself. L. Ron Hubbard Junior said in one of his interviews that his father believed that he is Satan (Caroline provided excerpts from this interview at one of her threads). Apparently, the Junior was not the only one who heard this nonsense from LRH.

I bet, majority of the members of the board have not heard this legend. To be exposed to it, one must live in the area surrounding Big Blue; there is no other place in the world where the legend persists. According to some estimates, approximately ¼ of LA Scientologists live in the vicinity of Big Blue

I was renting a studio in a large residential building situated across the street from Big Blue when I was working for OSA. At that time I simply had no time to make friends with the local Scientologists, so I was unaware of the Demon Legend. I have not heard any discussions about the Devil when I was in Sea Org.

After I left Sea Org I begun making connections with the locals. The first person who told me about the Devil was Fred Aeliets. Fred was a small landlord; a lot of former Scientologists who live in LA have met him after they were transferred from their cities to Southern California -- they used to stay in his housing unit overnight before they were given refuge at CoS bunk-bed dormitory inside Big Blue.

Fred told me that Sea Org members have had telepathic contacts with the Devil. Such contact causes general weakness and a splitting headache in a person, it is followed by some kind of telepathic command (Fred did not know specifics of that command). “I was in Sea Org, you know that. I did not have any contact with the Devil”, I said. “The Devil knows the future, he knew in advance that you won’t stay in Sea Org for too long, that is why he did not contact you”, said Fred. “What is the purpose of the contact?”, I asked. “I do not know”, said Fred.

At first I thought that Fred was bullshitting me. But then I realized that he was dead serious. Why would Fred and others like him believe in such nonsense? To start with, there is no known WRITTEN Scientology data about the possibility of communication with the Devil. But there is plenty of VERBAL data, which looks like a self-fulfilling prophesy to me.

Ken Shapiro and his wife were Fred’s tenants, they both were working for Sea Org. Ken was working for ASHO Foundation. The Shapiros believed that the Devil, or the demons, rule the Church. One day the Devil came to Ken in the form of Mr. Burger, who was the head of ASHO Day at that time. Mr. Burger contacted Mr. Shapiro telepathically. Of course, it was a hallucination. But long years of Scientology training did damage to Ken’s psyche -- he could not tell reality from delusion.

Ken told the ASHO Day stuff that their boss is a demon. Being long-time Scientologists, they all begun having telepathic conversations with Mr. Burger. As if that was not enough, they soon discovered that one of their coworkers, Mel, is also a demon.

Mel was a member of the Purification Rundown crew; he was a reticent individual with no friends. He was following blindly the Sea Org TV ban. But calling him a “demon” was plain absurd.

Phil was working at a drug store owned by a Scientologist; his place of work was just two blocks away from Big Blue. Phil became obsessed with the “demonic idea”; based on his conversations with the Sea Org members he compiled a list of Scientology demons. Phil showed that list to me. When I saw it I was making a heroic effort not to laugh in his face -- I knew some of those people! Here there are the demons that I knew:

1. David Howsen. The idiot deserves to be called a demon because he was a compulsive liar. Davy was conducting Scientology seminars, although he was not on staff. He always bragged about meeting rich people whom he brought to the cult. One day he was telling the audience about his conversation with a billionaire who “was making money to make even more money”. The audience were captivated by the story, but I was not impressed by it -- Davy the Vein Nose was retelling us a short story written by Sinclair.

2. Mike with a long Polish last name. This Scientology martinet was working for RTC; his rigidity made him an object of hate of the Sea Org members who knew him.

3. Richard the Shmock (he got his nickname from ex-Scientologists) was offering pedestrians to take Personality Test. Couple of times I saw the Shmock talking to himself.

4. Mike the Redhead. I met him at EPF. The bastard would not talk to anyone even when he was directly approached. Something was terribly wrong with him.

There were female names on Phil’s list, but I did not know any of them.

Phil told me how to break the illusion and see a demon in his/her original form. If a specially designed mirror is used to reflect a demon’s image, the illusion falls apart and one can see a demon as a red-skinned creature with 5-inch-long (13 centimeters) horns. Phil used his mirror to confirm that the persons on his list are, actually, demons. I knew that Phil was having persistent hallucination, but he refused to see a specialist when I advised so.

DM was not on Phil’s list, but he should have been.

This is a folie imposée,* a shared psychiatric disorder where one person imposes their delusion on others. This commonly happens with witch-hunt hysteria, where an entire group becomes convinced someone has "the evil eye." I doubt your case came from Hubbard's dabbling - it sounds like old Christian delusional fears of Satan.

It is hard to pinpoint the source. At the time of my "demonic research" I knew nothing about the L. Ron Hubbard Junior interview, so, basically, I identified the source the way you did, Don Carlo.

Demented LHR, you have a great post as the experience you had sometimes, but the fact is that in the old times, there are lots of things that have to do with using illusion to fathom the fact that demon exists. Truly, to my opinion, demons do exist and there are lots of Scientology proving that scenario. Now, things are tight, but we can see a lot happening in the occult world. There is a relationship between the occult world and demons. This may be likened to that fact.

Lexybam,
Welcome to the board!

My intention was not to discuss the existence of demons but to show that some Scientologists have beliefs not sanctioned by CoS. I am also puzzled by the fact that the CoS leaders do nothing to stop this heresy. Perhaps, they are afraid of bad PR that could follow their attempts to deal with this matter openly.

I heard in one Ron DeWolf Interview (not this one) Ron Jr. clarifying that his father did not worship Satan, He thought he was Satan!

I took a Ron DeWolfe quote from this "debate" http://www.youtube.com/v/T8baAc5mOVk?
[Begin quote]
"He was very deeply involved in Black Magic from the early teenage years, which was the use of drugs and hypnosis as an example. He used to conjor up these demons and thereby plug into them or have them plug into him and alot of his early writing which could be called spritial writting. So he was very deeply involved in Black Magic, as an example, especially from Alister Crowley which was an English Black Magician. And around 1947 or so he decided that he was the Beast 666 incarnate because that's what Alister Crowley was and he died in 1947." [end quote]

This, and several other Ron DeWolf videos, can be found on youtube.com

I just wanted to add another perspective to the topic -
While I am totally with Carl Sagan (btw., the book is for download as pdf at this address: http://www.philosophy.thecastsite.com/r ... dworld.pdf),
I would add that Demons/the Devil and other "spiritual" entities can have another mode of existence, if you will a cultural/psychological/group-psychological one:

It is quite evident that the way Scientology deals with critics and former members who threaten to expose their PR lies is evil to the extreme - I have no problem at all calling this behavior "demonic".

What I mean by that is not that there is a spiritual entity at work that influences the physical universe from a "beyond", but that these "demons" exist in and through human beings, as possibilities for us to behave, perspectives to see others from and then treat them accordingly.
Hubbard does have a documented history in interacting with Aleister Crowley and evidently did participate in satanic rituals with Jack Parsons in order to create a "incarnation of the Anti-Christ" by using a "Scarlett Woman".
All of this was done with real people who participated, so the imaginations of what happened were created in their minds, the perspectives were established and believed, psychological roles and perspectives were accepted by the participants.
I don't think it's a far stretch to associate the terrible things Scientology does to people who are in its way with these practices, call them demonic and take Hubbard seriously when he thought of himself as Satan according to Ron DeWolf.
In the suppressive person doctrine there is certainly no godliness, there is no good or mercy in it, no forgiveness, just pure utter selfishness and destruction.
This doesn't require a "supernatural influence on the physical universe" really.

I think the fact that Co$ has persisted at all up to now despite all of its fishy business is a pretty clear indication that there is a *real demon* of this kind at work within it, and people who practice Scientology independently should be aware of that. The demon probably sits in the ideology, not just the organization it has created.
Dismantling it is not an easy task, but there is evidently progress.

I found dox on the whack job named Fred Lee Aeilts, a longtime Scilon who used to own the property 1410 LRH Way (now owned by the cult).
Aeilts now lives in Palo Alto.

Interesting fella...he believes "The root cause of evil in the world is a small wireless quantum computer in the shape of an orb that we take with us between lives. Now that we have Quantum Mechanics and digital cameras to capture the images of orbs, we have the smoking gun evidence that disembodied beings with orbs are all around us watching and manipulating us."

F. Lee Aeilts, BSEE, LLD, studied Quantum Physics at the University of Utah and discovered that our personal orbs are insidious and diabolical quantum-mechanical computers that we take with us between lives. Find out how you can get rid of the demon orb that disables you and ruins your lives. Discover the world of beings flying around us that our cameras can “see” but our eyes cannot.

http://orbscience.com/

Dr. F. Lee Aeilts released his discoveries about the 200 trillion year old orbs that people carry with them from lifetime to lifetime. The evidence of the existence of these 21 gram insidious wireless quantum computers can be found in Dr. Aeilts' new book, COSMIC MECHANICS: How We Create Reality With Quantum Waves.

He discovered the purpose and function of these pesky little gossamer orbs that graffiti digital images of people. These are not out-of-focus rain, snow or dust orbs. These diabolical orbs are the root cause of evil in the world and man's inhumanity to man. They make humans anti-social, incompetent, dull, fearful, sick and robotic.

Thank again, Smurf!
It seems to me that Fred became a rogue Scientologist since his belief system no longer complies with the Scientology doctrine. I am sure he used a vanity press (self-publishing company) to publish his book.

I decided to bump this thread in view of new information that I recently received. This is information made me reconsider my position on this topic.

To make it clear from the start -- I still do not believe in existence of the Devil as a mythological creature with horns and hooves. But now I came to conclusion that some male Sea Org members use the fear of “telepathic contact with the Devil” to force Sea Org female members into unwanted sexual relations, which is tantamount to the rape.

This is the story of someone I know. Luckily, it did not end in rape, although it was a close call.

Cecilia was born into an upper middle-class Mexican family. When she became of age, her parents sent her to the USA. She got her BS and MS in Chemical Engineering from UCLA (University of California) in Los Angeles. When she completed the study, her student visa expired, and she no longer could stay in the USA. At that time Cecilia met a CoS recruiter who promised her the following: In exchange for doing a low-pay “managerial work” for Flag for a year they will obtain a work permit for her. Once she gets the permit, she could leave CoS and start looking for a job in her field. The scumbags promise such arrangement to other foreigners as well, but this is a lie.

Cecilia and I met each other at EPF. We became good friends from day one after a prolonged conversation during which we learned certain things about each other: Cecilia told me about her situation and “confessed” that she is not a Scientologist (she heard from our mutual friends that I considered writing KRs on fellow Scientologists as a childish affair not worthy of a grown-up like me); I told her that I was interested in Dianetics only and did not consider unverified OT stuff as a gateway to Salvation.

Cecilia left CoS after she discovered that she was lied to. She told me that she had no other choice but to go back to Mexico. I said that, most likely, I will be leaving Sea Org, too, which I did a week later. Cecilia knew that I was living in a residential building located near Big Blue, but I told her that I won’t be staying there for long. I gave her my mother’s NYC address. We agreed to exchange letters on regular basis, and kept our promise to each other.

Cecilia married an American citizen two years after her departure from Sea Org, and they moved to the USA. Currently she lives in Frisco with her family (she has two daughters) and often visits New York City where her employer company has a branch.

I met Cecilia 5 days ago on her trip to NYC. She run into the thread that I started at OCMB, A Demonic Scientology Legend. She did not know that my screen name is DLRH. She said, “The person who wrote this article knows the Scientology dark secret, but he laughs it off. He is so ignorant!”. I told her that the article’s author is me, and asked her to tell her story. She agreed.

Roughly at the same time when I met Cecilia I met Josh -- all three of us were slaving at EPF. Several girls told me that there was something dirty about Josh, they kept the distance from him. Perhaps, that was a female intuition because I did not have the same feeling about him. To me he was just son of a bitch who deserved to be kicked in the ass.

The EPF staff work all week long except for the Sunday afternoon which is called “laundry time”, or something like that, when they are supposed to do -- guess what! -- the laundry. Without this liberty EPF would smell like an armpit. The laundry takes no more than couple of hours, and after that the EPFers can tend to their own needs. My need that day was to see the women taking off clothes.

Josh saw myself and two my EPF friends exiting Oasis late at night. Oasis was a strip club located on Sunset Blvd just a few blocks from Big Blue (nowadays Oasis is a strip club no more). Next morning we all were invited to the Ethics Officer’s office where he was waiting us along with Josh.

The Officer was a nice guy who was tired of his post (he blew three days later), and was in constant violation of several Hubbard polices -- he was supposed to have a one-on-one meetings with all of us. But he was cutting the corners because in his mind he was far away from Big Blue.

Josh gave a long speech accusing three of us of mortal sins, and demanding that we were sent to RPF or at least to DPF. He called us a “disgrace to Scientology”, and many other things. “What do you have to say for yourselves?”, the Ethics Officer asked us. Being an Ethiopian and a Mexican, my friends felt very uncomfortable going against an angry white American, Josh, so they said nothing. Then it was my turn. I laid everything on the table by calling Josh a “retard”, “motherfucker”, etc. I ended my tirade by saying that Josh’s parents were a hooker and a pimp who conceived him when they were drunk.

Josh was clearly astonished by my response. “Did you have sex with the dancers?”, the Ethics Officer asked me. “No, this is against the club rules”, I said. “I know what you’re talking about”, he said. Certainly, it looked like he had visited the same establishment more than once. “Go back to your work stations, I will decide later what to do with you”, said the Officer.

The new Ethics Officer did not have a discussion regarding our despicable behavior with us. I suspect that his predecessor did not bother himself to put our case in writing.

Cecilia was a pretty girl; Josh had a crush on her, but she rejected his advances. Then came revenge in the form of “evil voices” demanding sex/marriage with Josh. As I said before, such voices are usually accompanied by a terrible headache, general weakness and nausea.

I wish Cecilia had asked me for help; that would have been the end of Josh. But she was afraid for my wellbeing because she thought that Josh would do terrible harm to me.

Cecilia was all alone, she did not know what to do. She though that if she runs away, a supernatural being, demonic Josh, would find her and kill her, as he promised her he would do in event she “tries to escape her fate”. In a moment of despair she turned to another female Sea Org member for advice.

Cecilia thought that Peggy would tell her that she’s crazy and needs medical attention. But Peggy said, “There is a simple way to solve your problem - start flirting with the guys. The demons do not like sluts, they look for decent girls only”. “How would you know it will work?”, said Cecilia. “Worked for me, and many others. I know just one case when this strategy failed”, said Peggy.

It worked for Cecilia -- Josh backed off when he “realized” that she is a “Mexican whore“.

I hope that female CoS members are reading this article. The things that almost happened to Cecilia could happen to you -- you are in constant danger of being raped. You may not believe in the Devil or demonic hallucinations at the moment, but your personal beliefs will not save you from the evils of Scientology.

Whether this is a hallucination or a real encounter with the Devil is unimportant; the end is the same in both cases, which is the rape.
