Seaside,
Is that because only those with something to hide create mystery?

Whats the big deal about this OT stuff....I looked the words up 40 odd years ago.

And found :-

Definition:

Main Entry: op•er•ate Function: verb
Inflected Form(s): -at•ed; -at•ing

1: to perform a function

Definition: Thetan: A spiritual being. The you.

Therefore by definition; if you are able to perform a function, such as going to the bathroom, you are an OT.

What do you mean there are no OT's? There are billions of OT's.

Actually Umike,

Me thinks Seaside's quotes bring a breath of fresh air into the Hubbard's cupboard.

Notice that the "Harry Potter" world of your shade tree sorcerer hasn't yet gone mainstream as predicted! Seems only to live on in the imagination of 55 years of wanabe sourcerees in training.

Can't you handle a bit of wisdom from other sources outside the box?

It does look like Scientology was an excellent prototype for wanna be "wizards" wishing to set up a complicated and expensive system to keep folks enthralled and coming back for more.

What we need is more objective documentation of results.

Just a simple method to go exterior and verify something at a distant location would be excellent.

I've been looking at the Monroe Institute and another organization:

http://www.iacworld.org/

IAC claims a slightly higher success rate than Monroe, but there is still sketchy objective documentation.

If Scientology, or Knolwedigm, or Avatar or anything else is valid beyond being a nice way to get in touch with your self or your "higher being" then it shouldn't be very difficult for a more
objective demonstration of results.

Metaphor Patrol!
"Shade tree sorcerer.."? I have absolutely no idea who or what you are talking about. If you're going to use a non existant word would you please spell it wright. I believe it's "Wannabe".
Thats how it should be spelled in any event.

Can't you handle a bit of wisdom from other sources outside the box?"

Oh..is that what heshe was doing? I'm confusing those posts with a mosquito I saw today.

"Can't you handle a bit of wisdom from other sources outside the box?"

I like my box very much. Seashell is behaving like a whorish quote reposter. just what we need!

Those posts were a method of flaming someone without accepting personal responsibility. There is common one word adjective we have assigned for this condition.

Beyond Horizons, I'm beginning to think that you may be one of those people that think "Oprah" is one of the most important people in the United States. I sure hope I'm wrong about that.

Seashell could have some talents we aren't aware of yet.
Who am I to judge? I'll remain optimistic about the whole matter.

OT's are nonexistent.
Hubbard defined OT as having cause over MEST.
Not as a person going to the bathroom.

Who would pay $360,000 to take a dump off Hubbard's bridge?

Where I come from the term "shade tree" applies to your local auto mechanic who says “no problem I can fix it“ with a silvered tongue and a smile!

He takes your money and your car and then pulls it under his shade tree, throws a chain over a limb in order to pull the engine out. When your car comes back in worse shape than you left it, then , well you just been had by a “shade tree mechanic“!

Sorry Umike, I'm not an "Oprahologist"!

Of course, I'm talking about Ron the "Shade tree sorcerer".

Hey hey....here's my two cents, for what it's worth:

Granted, each of us who was conn'd by Hubbard (Alan Included) and we have our own personal upsets re the cat. However, I do know I'd heard many stories about him, from my Mother and Father in Law, who met him and began Dianetics in 1950, and these were truly interesting stories! I asked "Gold" to put them on tape, as once these folks are gone, such as my M&F- in- law, those stories (theirs) are G O N E. Of course they wouldn't. Why? She was in a wheel chair, and Scientology (the gigantic phonies) couldn't have THAT!

Their stories, are 100% different than what occurred later. Granted, they remained "in", things changed, and they were too "In it" to find their way out. They had some fun stories to tell of times back then. You have to know there were good times, or we wouldn't have stayed. Does anyone not get this?

Ok, so here's my point:

Let's let Alan tell his stories re Hubbard, and what he experienced and how. It's his story, eh? He knew the guy, he was at the Mission Holder's Conference...were any of you? I don't know about many of you, but I enjoy hearing about this stuff first hand.

What he (Alan) chose to do with his life is his business. The people who have gone there have either gotten help and moved on with their lives, or it was a step out of Scientology, as far as I know. Either way, I see it as a good thing.

So I hope we can each put our grievances about Hubbard away for a bit, so this one person can share his stories, his way, vs. jumping all over him.

May I suggest we each keep in mind what Andreas said about he considering a Message board such as this like someone's living room. Would any of you pound on Alan if you were in such a living room? Ask questions, find out what HIS life was like..and what made him tick. That to me is what counts.

There's TONS of info re Hubbard being the later loon that he grew into, and the destruction we all experienced. Let's hear some of what we've never heard...Ok?

PB,

What we need is more objective documentation of results.

We need to start with "one" objective documentation of results.

PS: And No, I'm not saying to anyone that they shouldn't question Alan, or not give their views.

Just as I am so thankful that xenu.net message board for the most part is and has been a great place for each of us to express our views, experiences, etc. without huge 'attacks' or gigantic put downs....with that in mind, I mention this.

However, there IS a difference between asking, and questioning, expressing one's views and seriously pounding on someone.

Ya?

:)
