From WWP today (1st Nov 2010):

Awaiting confirmation.

Note that the building is still in the same derelict looking condition as before, with boarded up windows, a hole in the roof, as well what looks like roofing lead having been stolen.
The nearest working org, about 30miles south in Sunderland city centre has often been reported by local activists as having its doors closed much of the time.

Another related WWP discussion thread (June 2010):

The condition of this building and its vacancy is a concern. The Council is currently exploring options to secure a halt to the rate of deterioration and the repair of the building. The Council is also considering options for the building in tandem with the Town Centre regeneration proposals.

Regarding your concerns about bats, I am advised by the Countryside Team, that bats do not build nests and the fact that the building is no longer occupied and open to the elements is likely to reduce the risk of bats being present. However, any future applications will require a bat survey and this will allow appropriate measures to be implemented.

Kind regards

Note that it is a Listed Building. No, that doesn't mean it is leaning to one side but rather it puts on the owner certain responsibilities to ensure it retains its original character through planning restrictions because it has been put on a Statutory list of buildings having "Special Architectural or Historic Interest". The degree of restrictions and responsibilities depends on the grading of the listed building. One of those responsibilities will of course to ensure it doesn't fall apart into a pile of vandalised weather-worn rubble.

Current lead price is $1.20/lb. A nice price if one has lead shingles in hand!
