UK Ideal Orgs Buildings failure status updates...

Post by Sponge » Mon Dec 19, 2011 11:05 am

UK:
Note: Local council planning databases for the orgs below were checked today 19th Dec 2011.

Northumbria (Gateshead): former Windmill Hills nursing home, Mulgrave Terrace.
Unoccupiable, falling apart, vandalised, roof of one section almost all burned in a fire, now sporting some remedial scafolding and flapping tarps. No building planning applications submitted per Gateshead council public access database planning database. Still fundraising. There is a generic change of use to a place of worship/religious instruction (D1) on file that was granted in 2007 under the agent/owner's name which is cultie Richard Pickles but not under the Church of Scientology who don't actually own it on paper (no access to latest land registry at this time to check if title ownership is still Pickles).

Update: 15th Jan 2012. A for sale notice for the building was spotted on the internet (believed to put up on 30th Nov 2011). see: viewtopic.php?p=427859#p427859
Oh dear. Fail.

Plymouth: former Royal Fleet Club, Morice Square.
Unoccupied. Not renovated. No building planning applications per council public access planning database and news media article from 15th Dec 2011 below. Still fundraising.

Also Plymouth sci's appear to now have a red gazebo style tent rather than just the "Stress Cart" 2 sat there on Saturday looking bored and fiddling with their phones!

Been past the Plymouth Royal Fleet Club building a couple of times in the last month. The first time, there was someone lurking in an upstairs window, with the front door slightly open, second time it was deserted. Have to wonder whether the person I saw in there might be an urban explorer. Cement now cracking on the walls, windows filthy, and an air of dereliction. I doubt they'll be moving in there anytime soon.
