I asked a lady to flip the emeter over and, on the bottom, the metal plaque was covered with a blank white sticky label.

The "sales pitch" is free.

Scientology learned that they have to change the "sales pitch" so people don't know they're being talked to by a salesman.

Guy walks into a department store.
"May I help you, sir?"
"No thanks. I'm just looking."

I'm sure you didn't hesitate to tell her in no uncertain terms that that was illegal, eh?

Someone should take a picture of this, plus the table, plus the CoS worker, plus the exact name and address of the local CoS org employing this huckster, plus Church of Scientology International's address,* plus the Food and Drug Admin ruling ** and send it to the Medical Board of California***. The e-meter is only allowed to be used as a labelled religious device. Otherwise it's practicing medicine without a license, in Florida a felony with penalty of up to $5,000 per count, and 5 years in the Big House.****

* Church of Scientology International, 6331 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles 90028

** Here is part of the order issued by Judge Gesell in United States v. An Article or Device "Hubbard Electrometer." et al., 333 F. Supp. 357 (D.D.C. 1971), which forbids the Church of Scientology and all related organizations from claiming to heal using an E-Meter:
The device should bear a prominent, clearly visible notice warning that any person using it for auditing or counseling of any kind is forbidden by law to represent that there is any medical or scientific basis for believing or asserting that the device is useful in the diagnosis, treatment or prevention of any disease. It should be noted in the warning that the device has been condemned by a United States District Court for misrepresentation and misbranding under the Food and Drug laws, that use is permitted only as part of religious activity, and that the E-meter is not medically or scientifically capable of improving the health or bodily functions of anyone.

Ahh, research by the advanced organizations of Scientology have found that, following his death in 2005, the thetan of Frank Gorshin, ahh, rather surreptitiously took over and animated the body of the Angry Gay Pope. Frank Gorshin factually has AGP's body in pawn. One always expects bodies in pawn when we, uhh, get to the lower levels of humor on the tone scale you see.

Don't think we are unaware of your activity Frank. Your mask was one of the clues.

There are laws about "selling" on a public street. Scientology babbledygook about "fixed donations" for buying the books violate the letter and intent of the law. Ask to see their "street vendors liscence" or whatever it is called in LA.

"Stress tests" are arguably an attempt to practice medicine on the street with an FDA banned device.

Take a copy of the FDA ruling with you and ask to see these kids "Minister Liscence".

Read this research complete with documents from Arnie Lerma's site:

http://www.lermanet.com/e-metershort.htm

Scientologists get away with breaking the law because nobody knows the law, including those naive young people who are sent out there on the street to recruit "raw meet". I know because I was one. They are being used just like I was and generations before me were.

The law is on our side, but ignorance of the law and the cults "fair game" blackmail fear and intimidation tech (as Hubbard ordered) allows this scam to go on.

It didn't work. The cops said that in order for them to go after the stress table you would have had to pay for the emeter usage. Instead, the emeter reading is free and it is dianetics that costs. Apparently the cops did not like the idea of charging them with anything unless you bought something.

Having Scilon free stress test tables equated with the t-shirt hawkers and Jesus Freaks on Hollywood Blvd is a tremendous win. CoS might as well throw in the towel and just sell $1.00 churros at its stress test tables. People will buy tasty churros for $1.00 and that would result in stats.

Excellent idea. It would be a new public person doing the Churro Communications Course, and would add to their stat of 8,000,000 Scientologists worldwide!

Wow, like that photo of Frank Gorshin, aka the Riddler, shows.... well, I guess my question would be, does AGP perform prostate exams on stress testers?

Even if it's free, it's still practicing medicine without a license. The cops and even the FDA may be slow and understaffed to pursue this, but the California Medical Board should have the resources. It's their JOB.

Maybe not. Legislation was recently passed that revised the rules. (If you understand this gobblygook, you deserve a gold medal)

Thanks, Smurf.
Quote:
for compliance under SB-577... you must...disclose your training and qualifications to your clients in a written form.

Quote:
Here's the exact rule:
(1) Disclose to the client in a written statement using plain language the following information:
(A) That he or she is not a licensed physician.
(B) That the treatment is alternative or complementary to healing arts services licensed by the state.
(C) That the services to be provided are not licensed by the state.
(D) The nature of the services to be provided.
(E) The theory of treatment upon which the services are based.
(F) His or her educational, training, experience, and other qualifications regarding the services to be provided.

(2) Obtain a written acknowledgement from the client stating that he or she has been provided with the information described in paragraph (1). The client shall be provided with a copy of the written acknowledgement, which shall be maintained by the person providing the service for three years.

My comment: A, B, and C are awkward for CoS but not a deal-breaker.

D CoS might call the nature of service "spiritual technology" since "religion" scares people.

E CoS might call the theory of treatment something unprovable and vague like "making the able more able."

F Educational qualifications: hard to tap-dance around having a limited education.
F Training: hard to tap-dance around the poor and unaccredited training of "how to hard-sell" and "how to scare people. CoS will drum up a bogus new certification for these poor stress table hawkers.
F Other qualifications: ability to work with minimum sleep and food?

Item 2, about record-keeping, is not hard for CoS; it is painful for them to hand over a copy of any agreement or contract to anybody. Boo-frickin hoo.

Someone please ask for the written form. In a perfect world, the poor slob has to hand out a card "I am not a physician and these services are unlicensed by the state of California. Our nature of service is micro-doses of electricity from a cheap altered e-meter while confessing your embarassments and sins which get written down and told to your boss and family if you complain about Scientology. Our theory is that people are infested with money and evil spirits, and Scientology aims to remove the money while endlessly finding new evil spirits inside your body. I am a high school dropout that started last week with five hours of training. I need you to buy something so I can get paid and buy a sandwich."

This law is dangerous. Instead of these quacks "strengthening" alternative medicine, they're just going to grab patients away from regular doctors. Some patients will die.
