Chuck B., I couldn’t agree more! The single smartest thing that Miscavige and official Scientology could do for CoS’s public image would be to immediately cease ALL harassment of Scn critics. Withdraw all complaints against Keith Henson, stop harassing Graham Berry, call off the PIs, don’t sue anyone, take down the wacky websites that label critics as "bigots" or "criminals." Let people wander around outside the orgs with picket signs – bring them cups of tea! The public would perceive the church as confident, magnanimous and "above it all" - and the critics as possibly slightly loony. But when CoS goes after critics, in the public’s eyes it validates all that the critics are saying about CoS; it makes the church look weak and desperate.

This is so simple! You’d think they’d figure it out. And maybe they would, if they weren’t trapped in LRH’s us-versus-them, "always attack" mindset.
What? you expect them to ACT like there are OTs there?

:D

You mean wacky websites like this one? Insulting church members and solid citizens? Preaching wierd philophies like "forced" deprogramming?

Arnie,
Do you know Graham Berry (the Lawyer) at all? Maybe you could call him and give him the news about Keith Henson. I know Graham popped up recently asking for info for something he was doing re scientology so I think he may be interested in these developments at least in so far as to offer some kind of distant advice and professional research for free perhaps.

Gosh! The great James Randi has commented on the article at

James Randi Says:

There is no such thing as “irrational fear” of Scientology. It is a vindictive, powerful, agency, that attacks proponents of rational thinking under the protection of religious shelters. It is greatly to be feared.

This Foundation has today sent a contribution to the Keith Henson Legal Fund, and we hope that others will, as well. Please go to www.extropy.org/membership.htm to do so…

I contacted the reporter of this article from 2001 on: http://www.theregister.com/2001/05/19/o ... political/

The Register www.theregister.com (a very popular IT "tabloid" website) is usually very good at reporting speech related issues on the internet (which subsequently often wind up being picked up by other sites that feed off The Register) so I'm trying to get them to revisit the story with an update.
Feel free (in the above article link) to click on the author's name to send him an email with your news links and info, comments etc.

Since Keith Olberman has such a fondness (ahem) for scientology, I decided to send him an e-mail on this story.

Its just amazing how so many deliberately neglect to mention that
this coot was hanging out in the middle of the desert alone for a very
long time with no other purpose then to harrass and vex and annoy
some of the more dedicated Scientologists.

This certainly is not the result that Scientology
had in mind, was it Pitbull?
