Not All Vampires Suck Blood One of the most famous essays from The Satanic Bible, it is here that lavey coins the term "psychic vampire". lavey defines a psychic vampire as one who attempts to psychologically manipulate others by systematically playing the victim; for example, a person who constantly uses some minor physical flaw as an excuse for their shortcomings and a means of gaining sympathy and favor from others. lavey believes that people who use a victim status as a means to induce guilt in others are fundamentally weak, and therefore to be shunned by Satanists. lavey does not imply that anyone with a flaw is automatically weak, but are psychologically draining (hence the term "psychic vampire") and should be dealt with mercilessly and discarded before they are permitted to take control of the lives of vital individuals. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Satani ... I wouldn't have made the connection between service facsimiles and vampires, but Hubbard did mention vampires and vampire personalities as early as 1951 ( Science of Survival). Hubbard's ser fac tech, I think, has its earliest beginnings in DMSMH with his ideas about sympathy engrams, or pro-survival engrams. Certainly Hubbard wanted to black PR our earliest authorities, and make them wrong. And he indoctrinated us into believing that these relationships are our most aberrative. Probably the best-known reference to vampires was in PAB 13, On Human Behavior. These "vampire personalities" are what he eventually termed as Suppressive Persons, antisocial personalities, etc. That Scientologists seek to degrade SPs' images to vampire level is a matter of scripture. L. Ron Hubbard wrote: Men in the field of the arts are very often victimized by these aberrative personalities. The “merchant of fear” closes terminals rapidly with any area which contains a great deal of admiration. Since the person is actually incapable of decision, this is a mechanical closure. The presence of admiration around anyone else begins to dissolve some of the completely stultified bank of the “merchant of fear” and this finds him very close to the source. Orchestra leaders, painters, writers are always having the terrible misfortune of closing terminals with such personalities. There is hardly a man of art or letters who does not bear on him the scar of having associated with a “merchant of fear,” for these are vampire personalities. They are themselves so starved of admiration and of sensation that they drink out of others around them any possible drop of admiration in any form. Where a woman becomes a “merchant of fear,” sexual starvation is continually attempting satiation and all the while the “merchant of fear” will protest and, to all visible signs, follow a life of complete celibacy.
While it is not my purpose here to revile, I wish to impress upon the auditor that the “merchant of fear” is extremely dangerous, both to creative impulses and to sanity. One could say airily, “Why don’t we just audit these people upscale, since they are so few,” but these people will never present themselves for auditing and will discourage anyone else from having any auditing. A solution to the “merchant of fear” probably does not lie in the field of auditing.

Here's how Hubbard connected ser fac to evil intentions. L. Ron Hubbard wrote: A service facsimile is a brother to R/Ses [Definition: R/S] and evil intentions.
This is easily seen when one understands the anatomy of the service fac and the right/wrong, dominate and survive computations that enter into it. And when one understands that an R/S always means a hidden, evil intention and that the total reason for an R/S is to make wrong. In order to get someone to succumb they have to be wrong.
Way back up there the idea preceding the service fac was right, really right. Then it came down a bit and was a method of survival and then it was a method of dominating and then it was a method of being right in order to make others wrong. And in that contest one got enough overts so that the communication line took a switcheroo. What was right about it is now wrong about it and what was once wrong is now right. A=A=A enters into the situation where rightness becomes wrongness. All of his overts get piled up on one of these fixed ideas, or what we call a service facsimile.

Here he's talking about Theta in terms of "electricity," which may have something of a parallel in the " Thelemic Current." L. When you think of Theta, you may have some slight difficulty in trying to fit it into your own frame of reference. We are talking about something relatively new—at least in the technology of mental behavior—when we are talking about Theta. We are not talking about anything new, though, in the field of philosophy or religion. People have been postulating something to take the place of what we are calling Theta—for instance, Bergson’s elan vital, and so on. They didn’t know all its component parts or what it did or what its relationship was to the being; they just felt that there was some kind of an energy, not unlike electricity and not like electricity, which comprised the human soul and the vitality of a human being. They could see this sort of thing: they would meet somebody and after they had talked to this person for a little while they would realize that they could sort of feel their energy drain down. What they were actually feeling was themselves going down the tone scale.
This, by the way, is the background of the vampire legend. Two people meet and one of them for some reason or other seems to soak up the vitality of the other person. Occasionally in partnerships you will find one partner is dependent utterly upon the vitality of the other partner in some way or other. Actually, you have one person fairly high on the tone scale and one person fairly low on the tone scale. The one who is low on the tone scale needs the person high on the tone scale to keep himself pulled up. The one high on the tone scale doesn’t need the other one at all.

What is a Kiblah, and why is our "East" to be Boleskine House?
The Arabic word Qiblah, or "Kiblah," refers to the holiest shrine of Islam. At the center of the courtyard of the Great Mosque at Mecca is a stone building called the Ka'abah (cube) or the Bayt-Ullah (House of God). The original Ka'abah, or "Kaaba," is reputed to have been built by Ibrahim (Abraham); and Ismail (Ishmael), his son and the legendary founder of the Arabic Race, is allegedly buried nearby. Built into the exterior of the eastern corner of the Kaaba is the Hajar al-Aswad, the Black Stone. The Black Stone is said to have been given to Abraham by the Archangel Gabriel.(Note 2) Five times each day, devout Sunni Muslims turn toward Mecca to pray (Muslims within the confines of Mecca turn toward the Kaaba), and they are expected to make pilgrimage there at least once during their lifetime. The term Qiblah denotes not only the physical location of the Kaaba, but also, and more importantly, the direction to which a Muslim turns his face to pray from wherever he may be standing on the face of the Earth. All mosques are aligned with the Kiblah, which is indicated within each mosque by an empty niche, called the mihrab. The word Qiblah is derived from the Arabic root Qabala, which means "to be opposite." It enumerates to 137.
The Kiblah, then, represents to the focal point of the magical current of a cult or religious system, the reservoir of magical energy which can be drawn upon by all who devote themselves to its Mysteries. Most religious systems include a similar concept. Christianity and Judaism have their Jerusalem or Mount Sinai, the Samaritans have their Mount Gerizim, Hinduism has its Mount Meru or Mount Kailasa, the Greeks had their Mount Olympus or the Omphalos at Delphi. Thelema has its Boleskine.

Ron Hubbard wrote: Now, if you change from a man to a woman auditor, the man will find himself auditing one theta body, [Definition: theta body] and the woman auditor will find herself auditing quite another theta body, automatically. Because men and women are responded to in a preclear by different theta bodies.
Now these variables need not be perplexing and are actually only perplexing if they aren’t understood. If you realize, suddenly, that you’re playing an organ with twelve stops, you can reach in and pull the stops in and out. That’s fairly simple, and you can play "Home, Sweet Home" twelve times. Fortunately for you, all these beings don’t receive the same engram at the same moment.
Now, you’ve seen this trick of valence [Definition: valence] manifestation. You take the preclear back on the track and he’s way out of valence, and you work and work and work to get him in valence. Well, there’s a good reason why you’re working to get him in valence. What you’re doing – when he’s out of valence – you’d be trying to audit an observer. Well now, it so happened that this observing theta body would actually have some charge on the incident. This observing theta body, which is the preclear too, would be watching this incident happen, and he wouldn’t like it. Just as an observer – just as any other observer in the room wouldn’t like it.
So you can audit out, but for heaven’s sakes, audit it out as an observer. Don’t just harass the preclear to get him into valence, just audit him out as an observer. "Alright, so you watched this. Okay, roll it." You will find, as you run the case, that gradually you can bring such an incident – and this is the manifestation of running through an incident several times and then suddenly finding the person in valence.
What you do is audit out this observer, this observer, and then audit out one observer over here and then audit out one observer over here. And then all of a sudden this central case here, you come onto that and it alerts. Because why? Because it’s getting the incident restimulated. The theta being is getting the incident restimulated over and over by these observers. They go through the incident – observers go through the incident – and that restimulates your center one, so all of a sudden he’s on to the incident, and he’s awake in it.
Generally, when you see this manifestation, the being the preclear was at the time is getting so much charge during the incident that quite often, if it’s a severe incident, that entity stops there and sort of passes out, goes to sleep, considers it’s dead, considers it’s finished, that it is no more, there’s no use to carry on; it stops right there on the track. But with this other stuff going on around it, all of a sudden it will shake loose enough on the track so that you can audit it. It wakes up to that degree.
Now, let us clarify terminology here, then. We wanted to really be precise in any communication – we say exactly what we mean, and therefore we have to have some words that say exactly what they mean. So, for no other reason than that we can find it handy in communication, let us classify these theta bodies in this wise.
Let’s call the theta being – let’s say theta being would be the central senior person, the one that the preclear would be if he were entirely cleared up on his way to a Theta Clear [Definition: Theta Clear] and this would be the last entity you would be addressing. That’s the top senior entity and the one which preserve as the preclear. Let’s call that a theta being, or his theta being.
Now, let’s call these remaining theta bodies, souls. And not call this – you don’t like that word? Alright, what do you want for words? Let’s call them, then, entities – let’s call them entities. Hm? All right.
You’ve got a whole series of these now, because these, by the way, have not walked in – these have not walked in unbidden. They are actually – have been gathered up in groups. [1] Some of them are there under compulsion from elsewhere.
Now, let’s call the third order – these are the ones that are supposed to be there. This would include the theta being and then six entities – and then the remaining ones, let’s call them idle entities, or some such word. These idle ones, then, are very idle. They are actually theta beings which have run downhill to the point where they’re practically out the bottom. They couldn’t have a body if – by the way, that’s where all these beings go eventually. They just peel off downhill until they suddenly no longer are capable of having bodies, they’re so thoroughly stuck on the track. Well, there’s these idle beings.
Male voice: Would you call those vampires?
Well they’d be vampires, all right. Okay.
Now, those come in on the individual – they come in on the individual, but not unbidden. He asked for them. Or one of his entities asked for them, authorizedly or unauthorizedly, out of a compulsion to join up. Therefore, you have this stack that looks like this. First there’s the theta being. Now, it has commingled in company, but hasn’t commingled in identity, with a second being. Now, this other being is pretty senior and probably won’t leave. These two then have added to them these entities, one after the other. And these entities, in turn, have enough compulsion on them to add in even more beings, so that you eventually wind up with a very large number.
