Contact Joe Smith and tell him that you have seen the declare order on Susie Bell OR urge him to contact OSA so he can confirm that there is a declare order on Susie himself.

If you do that and the connection remains then you should write a KR on Joe Smith (in the example above). Please write the KR per the KR policy. Send a copy to them via facebook private message if you do not know how else to get it to them.

BUT do not just send private messages to everyone else telling them that Joe Smith has SPs as friends without first confirming that he even knows this. Perhaps Joe Smith does not know. It is tantamount to simply third partying someone that may have NO idea that there is any problem. Conversely if they do know and they are not doing anything about it the need to put ethics in on them is now your responsibility.

I have received several of these alerts about connections being suppressives. In one case it was true. The others turned out to be "panic" alerts that had not been verified at all. They were false. I even received a private message from someone saying that some lady, listed as a friend of mine, was in bad standing and should be removed from my list. When challenged by someone else (it was a broad message to many people) that did try to verify this her response was that she was removing her just to be safe. Upon pulling the string the lady had done absolutely nothing. In fact it was the opposite, she had been the subject of an attack by a squirrel group. This is a way to really trash someone who has not done anything if you are lazy about it and just keep spreading something without verifying it first. It is a responsibility that you bear to verify these things before spreading them around.

We have policy on ethics, justice and third party. We do not need to be allowing ourselves to be connected to those that have gotten themselves declared and are stopping our group and its members. We also do not need to go crazy spreading false information that ruins a reputation without cause or proper use of our own ethics and justice.

Please learn LRH policy on JUSTICE. DO NOT allow your social networks to become a hot bed of suppressives and do not fall prey to falsely labeling someone "just to be safe". Don't be lazy.

Keep your lines clean and follow LRH policy.

I am a resident of Sunland-Tujunga, California where the majority of our local government figures are Scientologists and the local political climate is one of extreme discord and constant stand-offs. There is a constant theme of "us" vs. "them", although the reasons for this discord are obscured, an internet search brought me here and gave me pause for thought!

The Sunland Tujunga Chamber of Commerce, The Sunland Tujunga Neighborhood Council, and the Sunland Tujunga Alliance are all directed and staffed by Scientologists. Do the rest of us residents with differing views stand a chance at having a say in what goes on in our community?

Hi, Gold Leaf, and welcome to the board.

There are definitely things you can do to get your neighborhood back, but it takes a bit of effort.

What happens is the Scientologists basically camp in the offices of local government, schmooze, make campaign donations, and, well, lie about what they are doing and what the opposition is doing.

So you have to set the record straight, which means writing letters, calling, showing up at city council meetings, etc.

In Riverside the Church had the County Supervisors completely brainwashed, but after a lot of effort, most of the supervisors now understand (I think) what happened.

Similar things have happened in other places, such as Atlanta, and in Santa Clara, and some critics showed up at city council meeting, etc to set the record straight.

What's going on in Sunland-Tujunga?

First I suggest for further discussion on Sunland-Tjunga start a new thread dedicated to that.

A brief search with Google brings to light some information that probably needs to be verified.

-- Population of Sunland-Tjunga is about 43,000.
-- Number of "scientologists" is about 100.
-- Scientology's Sunland-Tjunga mission has failed and is likely closed.

The first step in dealing with the situation you describe, if you wish to do that, is to gather information.

My friend the colonel said, "Time spent on reconnaissance is never wasted."

I recommend making a database or spreadsheet in which you list all of the members of the various organizations you named and then identify which ones are scientologists, which ones are scientology allies, and which ones are in opposition to scientology affiliated members. You can add other categories.

Then come back to this message board with that information on a new thread so that people on this message board can help you identify who is who and how they are connected.

The question I have to ask is if scientology's org/mission status is non existent in Sunland-Tjunga what are they doing working on exerting political influence there?

100 scientologists is more than enough to carry out the above order from Ron. I'd find out exactly what they've been pushing for, and how that aligns with scientology's goals. As special interest groups go, they are probably one of the worst and most dangerous to be kowtowing to.

I had a look at a couple of issues of "Voice of the Village," "The Good News Newspaper." That theme line is suspicious of input from a person involved with scientology.

I found ads and articles relating to scientology activities and front groups in two issues.

I haven't been on the Board for a bit. Here's the scoop:
The first Mission failed and closed (boo hoo). A new mission opened a few months ago on the main drag of Foothill, expensive rent, next to the Panda.

The Editor of the Voice of the Village is Bob Georgeus, oldtime SCN, as well as half of its founding board members -- although the Pres of the Chamber of Commerce, the founder, is not. The paper's Board Chairman, McManus, is a SCN.

The STNC -- Sunland Tujunga Neighborhood Council, both the Chairman (McManus) and Vice Chairman (Tomi Bolwling of Tomi Realty are both SCN. Tomi is a known figure attacking SPs and PTS connections on the Foothill Forum, half of which are SCN.

The Dephi Academy is part of the District Zoning in Shadow Hills, so is part of Sunland-Tujunga proper.

The Pres of the Rotary Club is a SCN, Richard Stewart, as is half the club members. But I gotta add he is the one SCN person in the community who has consistently exhibited the highest traits of anyone, and never promotes himself as a SCN. He is actually a helpful addition to the community, and does good works.

As to the number of Scientologists -- there are hundreds, and in the place swarms with them. How can you count?

OP is right. When you find out anything that doesnt seem on par, contact the City Council aka Krekorian's office. Or go to or write to the BD of Supervisors. For example, when the first mission moved in a little birdie checked and found out they listed themselves as a simple bookstore. Yet were giving religious meetings and courses, which were outside of how they got their original license. hmmm.

Or, some 5 years ago a little birdie discovered there as a secret push by a SCN group to purchase up many stores along the "old Commerce Ave" strip. A year later they relocated to build a Mall which is 90% empty over a year later. hmmm.

I find the cult agitprop (referring to the images a few pages back) endlessly, morbidly fascinating. The graphics and layout are so cheesy, and the text reminds me of the patriotic rhetoric in Starship Troopers. It's very entertaining--at least until I remember how many people's lives have been ruined by this criminal organization.
