Miscavige / Myszkiewicz Family Tree

Post by Don Carlo » Sun Mar 17, 2013 6:11 pm

The Miscavige name is rare, because it is Americanized. General Hospital's joke about "The Miscavige Hospital for the Criminal Insane"* therefore points right at David Miscavige. The poster "Knowledge" and I researched the Miscaviges so that Knowledge could post info on http://www.findagrave. Here is a summary with findagrave and other links:

As far as I know, Miscavige has no relatives in Scientology except his missing wife, Shelly (born 1961), his twin, Denise, and maybe his sister Lori (born 1962). David, Shelly, Denise and Lori's relatives and linked people are researched in Scientology Celebrity Spiderweb, viewtopic.php?f=9&t=156867&p=558177

Congratulations, what a brilliant piece of research by you and 'Knowledge'! I cracked up at the General Hospital clip over at the Bunker, and not just at the Miscavige Hospital for the Criminally Insane quip....the acting! That's some hardcore Joey Tribbiani acting right there :D

One source gives Antonio Gidaro's birth date as May 31, 1883, but two others give it as May 31, 1884. The two others, the WW1 Draft Registration, and a 1910 passport application, are more likely to be accurate, since the 1883 date comes from the WW2 Draft Registration, when Antonio was about 60, and likelier to be sloppier about his birth year. So the findagrave for Antonio should say May 31, 1884.

David Miscavige's father has a second book out, Hideouts for Midgets on the Lam and other totally disrelated stories, where he says in Catholic school he was called Ronnie Miskiewicz. Ron's first book was called Confessions of a Kid, about his childhood in rural Pennsylvania. From
Hideouts for Scientologists on the lam: Another book from Ron Miscavige, by Tony Ortega, The Underground Bunker, http://tonyortega.org/2014/04/07/hideou ... more-14247

Miscavige is actually pronounced much the same as Miskiewicz.

Ortega's article on Denise Miscavige's daughter today set me looking up loose ends.
I found Mary Miskiel's death certificate, with her parents Thomas Glowatskie and Magdalin Namutko, both of Poland as was Mary. This is from the image of Mary's death cert posted on "Tony's Tree" on Ancestry.com which goes back more generations and has photos. The tree gives Mary the surname of Glowacki.

The same Ancestry.com "Tony's Tree" names David Miscavige's father's mother as Helena Suchwalko 1909 - 1984. Her mother's first name is Gahana born 1872. This info from the 1920 Mount Carmel, PS census, but poking around I can't find the family earlier or later. This needs more research.

On Ancestry.com, I found David Miscavige's mother's mother Dorothy Gidaro's Social Security Application, listing her father William Krall and mother Lydia Minnick. William Krall is on the 1920 census, born about 1884 in Pennsylvania. He is living in Mt. Carmel, PA with wife Lydia, born about 1886 in PA. Both have German-born parents. William and Lydia are buried in Locust Gap, Northumberland County, PA, according to findagrave.

I found the furthest-back Miscavige, Jacob Miskiewicz or Myszkiewicz, named as father in Stanlislaw's marriage record, but Jacob did not come to the US.
He is entered in the first post above.

Why would I look up 27 ancestors of David Miscavige? Partly to show how a large family of non-Scientologists preceded him, and, eventually, all his siblings' and cousins' descendants will be non-Scientologists. In fifty years, Scientology will be remembered only by scholars studying high-control large groups. Its founder Hubbard will be barely remembered, and its administrator Miscavige will be a blip in history, with maybe a sentence saying he ran Scientology into the ground. In fifty years, if a person found out he was descended from Miscavige's brother or sister, it would be like being descended from Rasputin's brother. They'd have to explain who David Miscavige or Rasputin was, and eyes would glaze over at parties, in the year 2066. The caravan of life will move on.

From a wedding photo, it appears Miscavige's paternal grandmother is Helen Suchwalko Image

Here is a photo of Stanislaw Myszskiewicz's gravestone, spelled as it was in Poland:
