Lucia Ribisi leaves Scientology

Post by I'mglib » Wed Apr 06, 2016 4:59 pm

Very interesting development. The daughter of Giovanni Ribisi has left scientology. She gave an interview to KCRW last year, under a pseudonym, when she was just 17. Here's the interview:

I'm so happy for this lovely young lady. This will affect her younger relatives:
her cousins, the two children of Marissa Ribisi and Beck.
Beck's step-sister, Alyssa Suede, born 1985.
Lucia's young half-sibling, the daughter of her mother Mariah O'Brien and Trae Carlson.

I partly started the Scientology Celebrity Spiderweb to see who is affected if one person quits. Go to it and click "find" and "Ribisi" to see the affected older people: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=156867&p=558173

What about her father? Is he still a Scientologist? Will she be disconnected from him?

This open report about Lucia is going to make many people have to choose: disconnect or not? Giovanni (Vanni) Ribisi can't disconnect from Lucia without looking like a looney asshole. But, if he stands with Lucia, he might lose his own mother and sister(s) and some buddies. Vanni had a mystery girlfriend back in 2015,* but no news since then, so he's not stuck with a deep-Koolaid-drinker-wife like Kelly Preston, wife of Travolta.

The article makes it sound as though Vanni got a special celebrity loophole of not having to disconnect, but that will anger other Scientologists who were forced to disconnect. Now that Lucia's exit is public, the pressure will be on to punish her. Luckily, Lucia is over 18 so her parents have no legal power over her.

Publicly leaving Scientology is a high crime in Scientology. People who do that get declared suppressive. Anyone involved with Scientology that wants to stay involved will have to disconnect from Lucia or be declared and expelled.

It would be super wrong if they disconnect against an 18 year old. Leah Remini is a grown, strong-willed woman with a full family leaving with her, and even then it was wrong and cruel when her Scientology "friends" dumped her.

Yes, it would be super wrong but they will do it because Ron says, and David says, and they want what Scientology promises.

The instant someone decides they don't want that they're free of it, though there may be an escape to plan and execute after that.
