I just found out a guy I considered a friend from back when I was on staff had committed suicide early this year.

I don't know the circumstances but apparently disconnection and a freeloader debt were involved.

Rest easy, friend.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend, Wieber.

It brings up what Nancy Many said about Scientology that doesn't seem so extreme when you hear these stories: "People are dying."

I'm so sorry to hear this. The pain is worse when it is so personal.

I remember hearing a story from a man who was in the Sea Org almost forty years ago. He told of another staff member who tried to commit suicide by slitting his wrists right after being in "ethics," and another who almost stabbed another Sea Org member to death because he thought he was an SP.

I joked on another thread how Scientology drama is so entertaining (referring to Marty going to Int to get Brosseau's passport), but this is a reminder of how grim Scientology drama really gets to be. And it's non-stop, decade after decade. It just keeps happening over and over and over again. How I wish the people still in would just get up and walk out the door.

 Sooooooooooo sorry, Wieber. Suicide is THE worst!

As you know, I know 7 young people (Scios) who all took their own
lives. It's SO sad, every single time.

I'm deeply sorry about your friend, Wieber.

That's just horrible. The thing is, they still lie about disconnecting families. "It doesn't happen, you'd have to talk to the family about why they chose that" -- bullshit. Scientology's disconnection destroys people. Not just family dynamics, but actual people. This has to stop.

Such a waste that likely could have been prevented by real mental health care and the love and compassion of friends and family.

I knew 3 very young ladies who were best friends. They all joined Sea Org together in the mid-70's. Within 5 years one had left Scientology with an infant child in tow. The father was still in Sea Org and of course not paying a penny of child support. The second was still in, but doubting everything. She has since left Scientology and is a very well known and very vocal critic. The third of the young ladies could not stand the pressures of Sea Org and had taken her own life. Such a waste when young people take their lives before they can get real help.

Scientology has no real help available. There is no give; it is all take.

Wieber, I’m so sorry for your loss. I wonder how many others considered suicide after waking up and realizing years of loss in the Sea Org. Damn you LRH and your evil little spawn, DM! There are no OTs.

Wow, these stories are heartbreaking. SeeYaBye, Magoo, I'm sad for what happened to the people you knew as well.

There are too many people with too much pressure on them.

I'm sorry to go off on a slight tangent here, Wieber, but it's in the same thing...

Anyone reading this, anyone that is maybe still in Scientology and feeling tremendous pressure, Suicide is NOT THE ANSWER. Leaving Scientology is. It may seem that David Miscavige and the church hold a monopoly on your eternity, but how can that be? People lived for thousands and thousands of years before David Miscavige, and before L. Ron Hubbard. Don't feel you need to stay in a church that is making you so unhappy.

If it's you want to be a Scientologist, you can still do that, there are indies and others who offer the Bridge. They may be considered squirrels, but the church changed L.Ron's writings, too! The Basics are squirreled!

If it's you think you can't make it outside, you're wrong. If you leave Sea Org, you can get a job at McDonald's today, making 7 or 8 USD. That's a good four or five times the amount the church pays! And you won't have to work 90 hours a week. If you worry about being homeless, there are shelters run by other churches who will help you for FREE.

It could be disconnection that's keeping you trapped. They may make your friends and family disconnect from you; but how many people have left that you disconnected from already? You probably have as many friends and family "out" as you do "in" -- if you leave, you no longer have to disconnect from them! Your friends and family who are out love and miss you.

So please, anyone who feels suicide is your only way out, try leaving Scientology instead. Your life will get better. You'll have time to think and breathe, and have time to do things you love.
