I don't think I understand what exactly is going on here. Let's see if I can get this straight. Apparently they lost "data" and "tech" and spent 25 or so years recovering it. But Scientology hasn't been around a century and most of its existance up to now, Hubbard himself was alive. So if the books weren't as they were intended, Why didn't Hubbard himself speak up? I guess I'm ultimately asking how in only 60 years do you lose parts of your religion. It's not like the dead sea scrolls that have been buried for centuries. Could it be just a ploy to sell the same old junk?

There will be some enormous thread (or several) on here about "The New Basics" volumes which will probably answer some of the points about the tactics employed on re-releases, revisions and "discoveries" of materials since Hubbard death. In the case of re-releases/revisions of the "this is what hubbard really meant" sorta thing, most definitely yes, it is a simple ploy by DM to sell the same shit all over again as well as cleanse some of the things that sound somewhat unsavoury to people who weren't born in the days when black people were openly called niggers and homosexuality was illegal.

Basically the well is dry and they are having to pump harder for the few brown muddy droplets that are left. The really thirsty ones will still drink it, especially if they put some sugar in it and call it chocolate.

It's a bit like how they didn't notice that some mischievous transcribers worte some very derogatory things about homosexuals in Dianetics and that went unnoticed for many years.

The prize for the most profitable and long drawn out "discovery" after Hubbards death has to go to the "Super Power Rundown". It even has its own $90million building, planned in 1993, started in 1998, of which they've received over $140million in donations for, and today it still remains under construction.
