How come people run up debt with scientolgy? Apart from sea org/staff "freedloader debt" (which is not legally enforceable) I thought scientologist publics pay up front for services and have credit accounts only (?). i.e. Scientology prefers you to have your debt with the banks and credit card companies, not them.

Is this a very roundabout way of offering a 25% discount on the bridge? Or have they started a new line of BS, such as the bridge (to total indebtedness) costs 400K and by making a "donation" now, they'll kick in 25% off.

How about BOGO?

This flier is referring to freeloader bills. Freeloader bills are the only debt allowed. All services are paid for up front before starting. Scientology never issues credit for services.

Part of the Dir Income's "hat" in any org is to collect freeloader debts. Freeloader collections $s go on his/her stats. The reason the flier mentions doing service, is because freeloaders are not eligible for service until their debts are paid in full, so it is an incentive to pay their bill.

They have done this forever- offering "specials" for paying off freeloader debt. It is usually a time-limited offer, meant to create a "buy now". Scientologists are always having to "buy" their freedom in one way or another, heh.

Scientology never sends these bills to a collection agency nor do they ever show up on a person's credit report. It is kind of obvious that they are not really collectable, even to a scientologist. They are an "internal" matter, and they only have force if the person is still a mind-controlled believer who plans to buy their "freedom" from scientology in the future. Family members often place an unbelievable amount of pressure on other family members with freeloader debt, to pay it off. The "church" often uses freeloader bills to drive a wedge in between family members. They will pound into the family member's head how lost, bad and messed up the other family member is. It stigmatizes them within their social circle. Employers will also put pressure on employees with freeloader bills. If a person leaves staff or sea org, they often go to work for scientologists, because they really have no other options. The scientologist employer will then put pressure on them to pay their bill. It is a part of the control mechanism of an extremely insular community.

Ah, freeloader debt. That explains it. Sad, isn't it? Freeloader What a disgusting term. Say what you will about SO, staff, but these are some the hardest working people I've ever seen. It's heartbreaking it's all for naught.

Thanks Dorothy. I tended to peg freeloader debt scenarios to those who leave sea org/staff and blow completely because that's what one tends to hear most of the horror stories about. But, as you say, there must be those who leave sea org/staff yet actually stay in, and of course we don't usually get to hear about those.

Actually, Scn will do "Credit Extends" for review auditing. Lets say someone was getting student auditing and the student f**ed up the session. That session would need to be fixed, in session, so rather than losing their stats for the day, they will fix the session, "on credit." This is what they are refering to."

Just remembered I had this in my shoop folder. Seems entirely appropriate for this thread...

Does the 25% discount go to the debt or the donation?

Spooky cult running money making business operating as a fake religion now offering discounts.
