Go to the start of this thread (click on Archive through October 29, 2001) and read the Salon article. The "Fish on Prozac" article has an expired link. It is gross to think about.

Clams on Prozac, ABC News 3 April 2003.

This had won The Ignobel Prize for Biology in 1998.

Thanks to Roger Gonnet on a.r.s. for the link.

Glad I distill all my water, but could we put some mind altering or enhancement drugs in COS water, then advertize this, so they are tested or let go ~ SOS "save cos souls" by poluting them all. What would COS do. Enjoy thinking on this.

'Twould be illegal, we are more effective being lawful. Anyway, the traces of Prozac that already exist should be enough to technically make the entire Sea Org resign, since they have been contaminated by a "psych" drug.

I would like to see the part per million or billion that they detected. Anyone know what the amount is that is taken by an individual in a normal dose?

I just found this article

http://pub.tv2.no/nettavisen/english/article263775.ece

'When ten employees at Kristiansand County complained of great fatigue, the suspicion fell upon the salad dressing in the staff restaurant. Apparently it contained a dangerous supplement; antidepressants.'

Something else for them to latch on to.

Prozac in Seattle sewage, along with extra cinnamon & vanilla over the Thanksgiving holiday!

Technically the below article doesn't mention Prozac traces in drinking water, but it reminded me of this old thread. All Sea Org members should report to ethics and then resign if they have brushed their teeth with Prozac-tainted tap water, since use of "psych drugs," by CoS diktat, disqualifies one for Sea Org.

Don,

I know you must be joking, but just in case you aren't; exposure to trace amounts of a psychiatric drug is not the same as 'taking' a psychiatric drug.

Sea Org is so puritanical about psych drugs that I'm tweaking their nose. I know an ex-druggie Scientologist who proudly claimed to raise "drug-free" kids (and one, sadly, now works for CoS). But the kids drank (or ate foods cooked in), maybe a gallon of tap water a day for eighteen years, so they're not 100.0000% "drug-free." To raise scrupulously "pure" children, the parents would have to use super-pure bottled water for drinking and cooking, and never let the kids swim in lakes, rivers, and oceans where Prozac-pee might lurk. And remember the first post in this thread: much bottled water is simply drawn from tap water ANYWAY.

I drink tap water and I'm not afraid of trace drugs, though I wish they didn't exist. I just want Scientologists to see they have no special claim to purity.

AP: Traces of Sedative in NYC Water

Quote:
Research studies have turned up minute amounts of more than 15 drugs or their byproducts in several pristine-looking rivers, a reservoir, and aqueducts feeding the country's biggest water system.

Tap water is still sloooowwwwly giving psych drugs to Sea Org workers, who claim to be drug-free.

Interesting thread....

I know this is about Prozac in Water and
sea org eligibility and so on, but it made me think of this.

Cocaine on money/bills.
http://www.snopes.com/business/money/cocaine.asp

Sea Org rarely handle any money.....
However, DM & Top Brass sitting around counting the money may have
them all coked up.

I liked the comment someone made about having to be on the
purif everyday. That could up the CoS coffers for sure.

Anyone who handles money is exposed, so thats pretty much everyone from developed nations.

(not to mention all the other drugs peope snort)

Herbal medicines, cigarettes, and coffee are psychoactive, and many Sea Org workers take full doses.
St. John's Wort: blocks serotonin reuptake, similar to Prozac
Ginkgo: increases acetylcholine activity, similar to Tacrine or Cognex.
Panax Ginseng: increases acetylcholine, similar to Tacrine and other anti-Alzheimer's drugs.
Kava: enhances neurotransmitter GABAactivity, similar to Valium and Xanax
Alcohol: increases dopamine, similar to Wellbutrin
Nicotine: (cigarettes) increases dopamine, similar to Wellbutrin
Caffeine: (Coffee, tea, and some soda) stimulates the central nervous system; Wikipedia says it is

the world's most widely consumed psychoactive substance

My point is not that coffee, or ginseng, or beer are BAD, just that the Scientologists are altering their brain cells with these substances, while they preach against "psych drugs" that ALSO target serotonin, dopamine, and other neurotransmitters.

This is a summary of the thread Herbal Medicines are Psychoactive, Too, at

Tons of released drugs taint US water, Associated Press, April 19, 2009.
Quote:
U.S. manufacturers, including major drugmakers, have legally released at least 271 million pounds of pharmaceuticals into waterways that often provide drinking water...Hundreds of active pharmaceutical ingredients are used in a variety of manufacturing, including drugmaking: For example, lithium is used to make ceramics and treat bipolar disorder;

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090420/ap_ ... _factories

Once again, I still drink tap water. I just think it's funny that Sea Org workers ingest lithium in the water that they use to make coffee, when they think they're so pure.
