If all they did was defraud the governments of the countries they worked in for taxes that would be one thing, but there is a very human face to the suffering this cult causes. OSA trolls, true believer indies, and those who are merely taking courses as is often used a a defence, you support this suffereing that originated with LRH and has been compounded by DM. It just plain sucks

The Village Voice blog entry: Scientology's Shame: Lisa McPherson, 16 Years After Her Death
By Tony Ortega Mon., Dec. 5 2011 at 8:00 AM

Shame is below Death on the tone scale, so forget about trying to shame Scientologists. No, they are at CAUSE, they CREATE THEIR OWN emotions. They would not create shame in themselves as it is counter-intention to their "survival." I detected zero shame in Marty Rathbun in the "Truth Rundown" interview when he talked about his part in Lisa McPherson, or any shame in his drugging of other Scientologists.

Dr. Martha Stout, in trying to make the condition of the sociopath comprehensible for non-sociopaths, states:

Martha Stout wrote:Imagine - if you can - not having a conscience, none at all, no feelings of guilt or remorse no matter what you do, no limiting sense of concern for the well-being of strangers, friends, or even family members. Imagine no struggles with shame, not a single one in your whole life, no matter what kind of selfish, lazy, harmful, or immoral action you had taken. And pretend that the concept of responsibility is unknown to you, except as a burden others seem to accept without question, like gullible fools. Now add to this strange fantasy the ability to conceal from other people that your psychological makeup is radically different from theirs. Since everyone simply assumes that conscience is universal among human beings, hiding the fact that you are conscience-free is nearly effortless. You are not held back from any of your desires by guilt or shame, and you are never confronted by others for your cold-bloodedness. The ice water in your veins is so bizarre, so completely outside of their personal experience, that they seldom even guess at your condition.

Stout, M. (2005). The sociopath next door : the ruthless versus the rest of us (1st ed.). New York: Broadway Books.

Dr. Martin Kantor in The Psychopathy of Every Day Life, reported on some observers' beliefs about how psychopaths experience these kinds of emotions.

Martin Kantor wrote:Behavior That Indicates an Apparent Lack of Anxiety, Guilt, and Remorse

Most observers state their belief that psychopathic individuals act as if they are unable to adequately experience anxiety, guilt, and remorse, and that seeming feelings of anxiety, guilt, and remorsefulness are a sham. However, other observers disagree. They cite the commonly found self-destructive tendencies seen in the psychopath and analyze these as signs of severe anxiety and guilt about being successful, leading to significant remorse, leading to massive self-punishment. These observers suggest that, far from being incapable of feeling anxiety and guilt, psychopaths feel these things deeply and poignantly. But they do not admit that they feel them, either to themselves or to others. Instead they hide them by covering them up—by acting out, either against themselves or against society; by "regressing," e.g., returning to a state of proclaimed infantile-like learned helplessness; or by denial, creating the familiar hypomanic "who cares" caste often associated with this disorder.

Sigmund Freud's paper "Criminality from a Sense of Guilt" describes individuals for whom guilt does not arise from a transgression, but for
whom "the transgression [arises] from the sense of guilt . . . so that [bad] deeds are done precisely because they are forbidden, and because by carrying them out the doer enjoys a sense of mental relief [from] oppressive feelings of guilt.. . ." 5 Psychopaths so motivated are reminiscent of masochists who act out of a need for self-punishment. They look self-serving, but they are instead being deliberately, if unconsciously, self-destructive.

Kantor, M. (2006). The Psychopathy of Everyday Life: How Antisocial Personality Disorder Affects All of Us. Westport: Praeger.

Dr. Stout also differentiated between shame, as "a reaction to having committed bad deeds," and unhealthy shame, caused by a "strident superego working overtime." Hubbard and Scientologists make no such distinction, and lump all shame as destructive and evil.

"Human emotions and reaction" are suppressed throughout the Scientology experience by many ways Hubbard invented.

Hubbard wrote: There are only two answers for the handling of people from 2.0 down on the tone scale, neither one of which has anything to do with reasoning with them or listening to their justification of their acts. The first is to raise them on the tone scale by unenturbulating some of their theta by any one of the three valid processes. The other is to dispose of them quietly and without sorrow. Adders are safe bedmates compared to people on the lower bands of the tone scale. Not all the beauty nor the handsomeness nor artificial social value nor property can atone for the vicious damage such people do to sane men and women. The sudden and abrupt deletion of all individuals occupying the lower bands of the tone scale from the social order would result in an almost instant rise in the cultural tone and would interrupt the dwindling spiral into which any society may have entered. It is not necessary to produce a world of clears in order to have a reasonable and worthwhile social order; it is only necessary to delete those individuals who range from 2.0 down, either by processing them enough to get their tone level above the 2.0 line -- a task which, indeed, is not very great, since the amount of processing in many cases might be under fifty hours, although it might also in others be in excess of two hundred -- or simply quarantining them from the society.

Hubbard, L. (1951). Science of Survival. Los Angeles: Bridge Publications, Inc.

Sympathy is 0.9, shame is -0.2, regret is -1.3.

The "Auditor's Code" requires Scientologists to not "sympathize with the preclear." [Scientology site: The Auditor's Code]

"Staying in Control" in the wog world requires Scientologists create specific emotional responses in wogs, that they then use to manipulate our behavior.

Some outward-facing Scientologists, however, actually try to "restimulate" engrams, such as our "sympathy engrams." The more sympathy they can excite and keep in restimulation, the better. Acceptance of Scientology is not far off.

Here's an example of how outward-facing Scientologists manipulate emotions in wogs. Lisa's best friend and boss Bennetta Slaughter ran a "Planetary Source Campaign" to cheer up Clearwater during the McPherson civil litigation. In 2002, she became the CEO of Applied Scholastics International. [Wikipedia: Bennetta Slaughter]

Sponge,

Thank you for posting this as a tribute to a woman who met such a tragic end. It is really beyond sad that so many people came to know of Lisa McPherson only through her needless death, and that this should overshadow her life in so many people's minds. The idiocy and cult-centeredness of some alleged "Scns" is amazing, the absolute callousness and disregard for anything but themselves is sickening. The same things that culminated in her untimely death continue to go on every day, in slow motion, within the "church" of Scn, but because these "abuses" do not result in immediate tangible death, authorities have done nothing to stop them. Total lack of common sense all the way around. It's good to remember Lisa McPherson's death as tangible evidence of the abuses of the cult, that her death not be wasted.

Tenor.

Did anyone notice that the investigation into Natalie Wood's death has been reopened after thirty years?

When I heard that news it brought Lisa McPherson to mind. New information on the circumstances of Lisa's death could very well result in reopening investigation into her death.

There is no statute or limitation with regard to a death.

In a 1998 interview with the Times, Miscavige said he was out of the loop regarding McPherson's care.

"I would have heard about it sometime around the time period that she died," he said.

That night?

"No. No," he answered. "That doesn't come to me."

He added: "At the time I don't think it was really thought to be that significant an issue. She died. People die."
