This was scanned from one of the many pieces of mail I get from the so called church of $cientology. It has not been shooped.

This should cause cognitive dissonance in spades, but it won't, especially among the most dedicated.

My favorite typo from OCMB was that Tom Cruise was "staring in a movie." The writer meant "starring" but I commented that "staring" indeed WAS what Tom Cruise does in movies.

I recognize that common error when it comes to both spoken and typing from a person who is either French or French Canadian whose English is broken and not very good. Who knows maybe the person who typed it is French. However, the majority of people are probably right: An obvious case of sleep deprivation.

TC does a lot of staring in movies! Maybe it was a review of his acting.

What are they talking about? It's never be easy to go OT, nor has it be cheap. (I think I need to get some sleep....)

Speaking of cheap sleep, TC has perfected the zombified acting style, but he was great in "Taps". Him and Timothy Hutton.

Everyone makes typos, no surprise here. But a publishing house has proofreaders to prevent the typos from getting out. CoS are so poor that they cannot afford to hire professional proofreaders, they settle for semi-literate peasants.

I was with a "group" of proofreaders for the QAT materials before their release. I was the only adult and the rest were children. I found a typo in Italian, which is surprising because I don't know Italian. I don't think anyone else would have caught that, at least no one that they had doing the proof reading. But the typo we are talking about was in English, and in large font. I don't know how no one caught that, unless there was some serious sleep deprivation.

BP, I hope you do not think that I included you into the “peasant” group of proofreaders. As you said, majority of the proofreaders are kids; now I know where all those typos come from.

Then there was the project to produce the perfect typo free Bible.

Fill in the shaggy dog type set up, about how diligent the publishers were, here.

Then as the first book rolled off the printing press, the publishing company CEO
opened it to the first page where it read, "In the big inning."

Automatic spell-check-fixer changed "Mike Moran" to "Mike Moron" in a long-ago memo. If I hadn't re-read the memo...ouch.

I didn't think that. But in a way we were "peasants" as SO members in the sense that we received peasant pay and were acting as indentured servants to the cult. We only thought that we were doing it for the "greater good." Yes, the proofreading is mainly done by children and sleep-deprived adults, and it shows.
