Then there's this:

And this:

It's become a cliché but it's likely true that once you see it you can never unsee it. Relying on the notion that people forget will not help Tom Cruise.

Those pictures of TC & DM are really funny...and creepy at the same time...esp the one where they salute each other. I've never been a TC fan and scientology never really had anything to do with it. He looks phony, arrogant and extremely full of himself... and in my opinion, couldn't act his way out of a wet paper bag. Having said that, Giovanni Ribisi is one of my fav actors which is how and why I started researching this cult so much. I love GR's acting and will not stop enjoying his performances, but will never pay to see one of his movies...no money from me to that cult.I laughed so hard at the promos of TC as a "rocker"???? NOT BELIEVEABLE AT ALL!!!

I wanted to add that there is only one movie that TC was in that I really loved and that was 'Rain Man'. But, I'm also a long time Dustin Hoffman fan so, to me, he made that movie work. But, I didn't hate TC's performance. I remember watching the movie and wondering if TC felt tall for once standing next to Hoffman LOL

I never noticed before what a disproportionately large head DM has. I guess it takes a big cranium to hold all that crazy.

Stats!
(Yes, this isn't Thursday at two. Go join staff with $cientology if you want to play that game.)

Reference: Box Office Mojo http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=rockofages.htm July 10, 2012

Rock of Ages
Production budget: $75,000,000
Domestic Gross: $36,974,619
Foreign Gross: $11,600,000
Worldwide Gross: $48,574,619
In release: 24 days.

It is pretty much no longer playing in first run theaters.

(Tom Cruise's next movie, Jack Reacher, opening December 21, 2012, has been front and center on IMDb for much longer than most other movies so there must be some payola going on to keep it there. I'll boycott that movie, too.)

His next character is supposed to be a bad-ass kind of guy. Tom will have to have put in practice to pull that look off.

Let's drag this back into the light and rub salt into the wounds.

I think by now this movie has pretty much finished it's run though it may be in second run theaters now, where the admission runs around $5 or so.

Reference: Box Office Mojo http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=rockofages.htm July 29, 2012

Rock of Ages
Production budget: $75,000,000
Domestic Gross: $38,128,486
Foreign Gross: $11,600,000
Worldwide Gross: $49,728,486
In release: 42 days

If Tom Cruise wasn't in it I would have gone to see it. I boycott his movies. I only know one other person who does that. I have a feeling there are quite a few who do boycott his movies.

I don't boycott Giovanni Ribisi's movies, mostly because he usually doesn't have top billing and I discover he's in a movie when I see it. He's very good in Ted. I wonder if he stays in $cientology so he can lord it over Tom Cruise at $cientology events. "Hey Tom did you see the domestic gross for Avatar?"

I'm so glad this movie flopped. I still can't believe people were stupid enough to believe they could have a box office success putting an over the hill, talentless has been, nutcase as the lead in an rock musical.

I went and checked it out on Box Office Mojo again. Hey, it made a few more bucks.

Pay attention.

Reference: Box Office Mojo http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=rockofages.htm August 3, 2012
This is compared to the numbers in my last post on this of July 29, 2012.

Rock of Ages
Production budget: $75,000,000
Domestic Gross: $38,359,724 (up $231,238)
Foreign Gross: $11,600,000 (same)
Worldwide Gross: $49,959,724 (up $231,238)
In release: 48 days

It made some money from second run theaters.

It's estimated that it will be released to DVD and Blu-ray this October. It will probably be expensive when it comes out.

The numbers aren't up that much. I agree, it will probably be very expensive when released. Hopefully it will flop in sales too. All the stories about how sea org members are used as his personal slaves disgust me so much. The more I find out about this cult, the more I wonder what it's gonna take for the proper authorities to stop them before it turns into another Jonestown or Waco kind of tragedy. With all ex members sharing similar stories of horror and abuse, what the hell are they waiting for? I can't help but worry that because of all the negative publicity being amplified right now, that the worst is yet to come.

You guyz/galz are so utterly heartless. I found the film quite enjoyable (after several rounds of rum & coke). I wonder if there will be a sequel?

Quote:
Tom Cruise is hoping to introduce comic Russell Brand to Scientology.

Newly separated Cruise is keen to recruit his Rock Of Ages co-star to be a spokesman for Scientology rehab project Narconon.

‘Tom thinks Russell’s battle with alcohol and drug addiction is a way to reach out to the vulnerable,’ says an LA spy.

That's exactly what Narconon needs.
