Regarding AGP’s post -- I heard the rumor that Cruise has gained weight and lost some hair, which may explain why he was not included in the group photo.

I ‘m going to see Monday reports about the movie’s weekend profit, and after that will decide if it deserves my attention.

P.S. Adam Shakman, who directed the movie, is a movie director who is wet behind his ears, so I do not expect an overwhelming success.

Poor Tom Cruise! What did he ever do to anyone? (Except use his celebrity to lead tens of thousands of people to their personal and economic destruction, I mean?) The critics here are so unreasonable. Typical.

But luckily, Tom Cruise has Smurf to protect him. Maybe Tom Cruise will give him a big, sloppy man-kiss.

LOL. 'Xanadu' was a huge box office flop in 1980, but I was in love with Olivia Newton John at the time, so I enjoyed the movie, except for the roller skaters at the end.

That was corny.

I went to see it, because I like watching movies about music. TC did a good job of pretending, as usual, and his singing actually made the grade. Having said that -

It was nearly unwatchable. I almost walked out, and several people did. Just when you think the cringe-inducing moments have subsided, here comes another one. If you enjoy cringing, go see this movie.

Junk. Rubbish. Gobbitch. :lame:

Sorry. :D I know he's a borderline-troll, but misplaced compassion just really sticks in my craw.

I mean, taking the side of a nasty cult shill (not to mention a shi**y piece of corporate Hollywood filmmaking) over the critics and victims of organized Scientology? Give me a f****ng break.

^^ The estimated gross income, $15 million is way too low for me. My threshold is $ 25 million. I’m not going to see this movie. I know that my sweetheart, Ms. Hough, will be deeply disappointed.

No need to apologize. You come across as an emotional, unadulterated nutcase. I have compassion for mentals. :D

Religion is a non-factor when it comes to the public appreciating most actors, but tom has jumped couches, gone on rants about psychiatry, and in general has said/done things based on the teachings of his cult that have spooked people away. This movie may take on some sort of cult following, but did they really think that people 25 or younger would flock to see this? Must have been a clam that pushed this through the financing. How much did they spend advertising this?

Alot of attention has been focused on writers in Hollywood the last decade about the absence of original ideas... producers are milking the premise of storylines in hit movies to produce numerous sequels.. and in the case of "Star Wars"... prequels.

I'm not surprised with a 'Top Gun' sequel, and wouldn't be the least bit surprised if there wasn't another 'Mission Impossible' sequel.. in Hollywood, Tom Cruise could be a bat-eating Satanist, and they would hire him if he continued to bring in movie viewers and satisfied investors with revenue gains.

It has zero to do with the histrionics of it's stars... it's all about making money. Shia Labeouf has caused headaches for producers in recent years because of his ego and his drinking problems, but he's got an enormous fan base from the 'Transformers' movies. As long as Shia continued to make them money, he could be the next couch jumping Scilon, and they wouldn't care.

It'll have a cult following alright. they're probably being motivated to buy six tickets each. And I agree that Cruise probably has the entire weight of $cientology backing (influencing) his every professional decision.

I like musicals. I just assume that any Tom Cruise vehicle is going to be a predicable and bloated production, and that three high quality films could be produced at a cost under Cruise's salary, and another two indie films could be made for under the advertising budget.
And since Cruise is the de facto face of the cult I'm petty enough not to wish him showbiz success and more popularity. I do wish him success in finding his way out of Hubbard's Petri dish.

I'm right there with you. What I really want for Tom Cruise to do is make a public apology for promoting $cientology's psychotic culture, and then I want him to fade into obscurity.

I'm remember hearing Tommy say it was a "privilege" to be a $cientologist. After wanting to puke, I thought about the insanity of this statement.

What kind of an elitist asshole wants to be apart of a 'religion' that costs $750,000 to avail yourself of?? And then goes around thinking he's one of the 'privileged' ones??

This to me means, he knows a $750,000 price tag puts $cientology out-of-reach of most people, and if he actually thinks it gives you spiritual salvation, it means, he just doesn't give a shit about just about everyone because they can't pay that much.

In other words, he's a total dick because only a total dick would think this way.

Geez, for someone who makes 22 bucks a week, seeing this movie would be 1/2 a week's pay!

Did I say "borderline" troll? I stand corrected.

And yes, Tom Cruise will likely be back in many lame, pale sequels to his earlier films. And then you can put on your little super-hero suit and tell us all how mean we are for not liking them. :P
