This was the: Freewinds OT Ability Tour.
Held 14 and 15 of August 2004. Las Vegas, Nevada.

This was held at the big org here. Today I went by and did two
different vehicles counts.

Sunday service was at 11am, 11:05am vehicles 8-13.

And then for the 1pm event I arrive at about 1:15pm, vehicles 16-21.

The smaller number were the vehicles parked in the org parking lot.
The large number includes vehicles parked alongside the building.
Interesting is that the same 5 vehicles were in the same places for
both counts. Maybe they were with the org, and maybe not.

Now I'm guessing that this was a heavily hyped Event, that lots of
phone calls would have been made, over and over in some cases.
And so personally, I'm quite pleased with the vehicle count. This is
just another pathetic turnout considering that both orgs attended this
Event at the same times and location.

Here is a post I made about this a few days earlier, and I still have
not come up with a logical reason for the event being held at the big
org. You see the big org has a parking problem every day except
Sunday. And because of this, "large" events have to be held at the
little org, the CC. Maybe they are practicing that thing they call
Obnosis, and they are finally realizing and admitting that there are
no "large" crowds attending these events. I don't think though that
they are able to admit this to themselves, and so there is some
logical reason for the location of this event. And this stuff bothers
me no end, eventually I will figure this out.

I think there are a lot of orgs and missions about ready to close.

Many of the long timers have been mistreated and they are leaving by the droves.

The Newest OT 8's don't possess the powers they thought they were going to get and don't want to help out as much as upper managment wants them to.

The old threat of "your so out ethics and as an (fill in the blank) clear, ot 3, ot 5, ot 7, ot 8, you should be doing more on your third dynamic" doesn't really work any more.

The old "this is the greatest new release and THE THING that will clear the planet for real and this is the best and most important event ever" is so old and over used, it doesn't work any more either.

So when they are all gone, we will all have to find something else to talk about here.

The CoS in Reno is dead. For all practical intents and purposes.

It's staffed by no one. So to speak.

It's located in a strip mall (in an otherwise reasonably high traffic area) where much activity is taking place, all except in one little corner where the mall feels and looks like a veritable ghost town. Thats where scientology's mission is (or was). The doors are shut (and locked) by day and opened seemingly only after one calls a number posted on the door "to set an appointment call 322-4141". I called the number and got a recording. The posted hours (taped to the door) are 6:00am to 9:00pm mon thru sat and 10:00am to 11:00am for sunday services. Yea. Right.

I can't help but feel sad for the lone ranger that recorded the message for the church. I'm sure he is sincere, and unaware.

Here's another ars link, Free at last. I was out of town for a few days. Good news about the Reno mission crumbling.

Maybe the local staff has shrunk to one or two people, paying the rent out of their own pocket. How long can this last? Flag will figure out that they are not sending $$$ to Flag but are paying rent, and will demand any $$$ before the rent is paid each month. Eventually, in desperation, the staff will start searching the net for ideas, and find... us! Then they'll stop paying rent and abandon the building to its landlord. It may be immediate, or take a few months, but the Scientology or Dianetics sign will disappear. Then we can report another statistic in the world's fastest shrinking sci-fi role-playing "religion."

The new org that had opened at the 4900 block west on Flamingo is now closed.
Whether they folded or moved to a new location I do not know.

For those not familiar with the setup in vegas, the west side is an upstat area. more upstat then the East Sahara org locatiion. I drove by tonight and the org is closed.

I just read an article in Reno News and Review and the Co$ has another mission on West Fourth and Ralston. Looks like it's time to do some friendly protesting.
