Frode, you've been getting input from people who have 4-5 years experience on ths board with the exception of "Ladybird" who
relatively speaking just landed at Operation Clambake.

Maybe 30 years in scientology but justs a couple months posting experience here Ladybird.

Please sit this one out and let the veterans speak about board layout.
thanks.

Invited Frode for some dinner today and now we have the Last Day feature implemented. You find the link on the uppr right of the front OCMB page (click on the OC logo on top to get there).

I have made a quick "How To" on easy navigation on OCMB.

Enjoy! :woohoo!:

Colors? Colors? OH YEAH.... colors....

I just took a stroll down memory lane on the old board.....still had the URL in another email addy....and there was a color change for each column. (You get o used to things, you never really notice them.) SO.......how's about doing it the "old fashioned" colorful way? I couldn't get "Last Day"....but here's the "Topics" page.

There is a color change in the colums in the new Last Day page too, just not so strong.

I might open for alternative color schemes later, but right now that is a little bit down on the list...

Thanks Andreas, That is a very helpful diagram.

I understand about only being able to post at the end of a thread...I was hoping that would change to something like the ars format, where you can reply to a specific post (and have a "killfile"). I think that would prevent really important posts like the Bashaw, Pearson, abortion stories, etc from getting buried under a ton of baloney, but I see your point.

One other point I liked better on the old board was that when you went to the "reply" box, you could still scroll up and see the post you were replying to.

Overall, I give the new board a big thumbs up! Thank you for hosting it, and for all your hard work.

Umike, I started posting here in January, that is more than a couple months...plus, this board is for everyone, and the hundreds of guests who visit everyday might not be as "experienced" on the board as you are, either.

When you start your own board you can decide who can or cannot post. You definetly will not have to worry about me posting there!

The same feature is here too, you just have to scroll down instead.

Colour scheme:

Red on black, with yellow trim is cool.

I posted this on another thread, but #'s 1 and 4 apply to Last Day:

1 - On the Last Day list I would like to see which page of a thread that each post is located on.

2 - I still don't know what all the icons mean. Is there a list to describe what each icon means?

3 - Are there plans to incorporate a spell checker?

4 - I would like to see the link to Last Day at the top of every page, particularly on the page of the thread that loads after I post a new reply. Otherwise I have to use my Back button several times to get back to Last Day , and that won't be a refreshed version of the Last Day list.

By the way, I got around #4 by simply bookmarking that "last 24 hours" link and putting it in my Firefox browser Bookmarks Toolbar Folder (which creates a shortcut link at the top of Firefox).

As I posted in a couple other threads...."Last Day" link at the top under "G E" in Message Board.

URL:

Operation Clambake Message Board :: Last Day
http://ocmb.xenu.net/ocmb/lastday.php

I saved the page in Favoriets and plan to use it to enter OCMB, bypassing Topics.
