The Stolen Valor Act of 2005
http://www.homeofheroes.com/herobill/hr3352.html Changed:4:44 PM on Sunday, August 7, 2005

This website seems to have information on everything about the Stolen Valor Act....including a petition to sign and the names of Congressional and other supporters. It even lists the National Coalition of Human Rights Activists. Thank you, David Rice.

So sign the petition and write a letter to let the world know that L. Ron Hubbard and his business, the "church" of Scientology are liars and thieves.

This will become an interesting issue if it is passed. I wonder what the "fall-out" will be.

I had an uncle who was a soldier in WWII. He was awarded a purple heart and a silver star. These meant a lot to him. But, as far as I know, he never wore them. He had them encased in a frame hanging on a wall in his home.

This issue is going to be really interesting as it unfolds in the public eye.

Karen Spaink, and many, many others, have pages on LRH's stolen valor. The followin excerpt is from Karen's website called, "RON THE WAR HERO and contains Scientology's lie's in bold text, followed by the truth from US Gov't records.

ref: http://www.xs4all.nl/~kspaink/cos/warhero/claims.htm

Quote:

* Hubbard was a commander of corvettes.
("What Is Scientology?" 1998 ed., and many other official biographical accounts)

Hubbard never served aboard a corvette. He performed deck duties aboard three ships - the USS YP-422, a gunboat (23 June 1942 - 28 July 1942); the USS PC-815, a subchaser (21 April 1943 - 7 July 1943); and the USS Algol (AKA-54), an attack cargo ship (22 July 1944 - 28 September 1944).
Source: L. Ron Hubbard summary record of service

* Commanded the former British corvette Mist [i.e. the USS YP-422].
("A Brief Biography of L. Ron Hubbard", 1960)

The USS YP-422 was definitely neither British nor a corvette. She was originally a heavy beam trawler, the Mist, before the US Navy acquired and converted her into a gunboat. The YP designation indicates that she was an offshore patrol craft. The name Mist has been used only once for a Royal Navy vessel, for an Admiralty drifter built in Aberdeen in 1918.
Sources: Naval Historical Center, Washington D.C.; Royal Naval Historical Branch, London

* Promoted to Commodore of Corvettes in the North Pacific.
("Facts About L. Ron Hubbard - Things You Should Know", Flag Divisional Directive 69RA of 8 March 1974, revised 7 April 1974)

Hubbard's service record shows that the highest rank he achieved was Lieutenant. Furthermore, no corvettes served in the Pacific, so there is no possibility that Hubbard could have been aboard a corvette in that theatre.
Source: L. Ron Hubbard summary record of service; Royal Naval Historical Branch, London

* Commanded the Fourth British Corvette Squadron.
("A Short Biography of L. Ron Hubbard", The Auditor magazine, issue 63)

There was no such formation. There was a Fourth Escort Group, which was a mixture of corvettes and destroyers operating out of Londonderry in Northern Ireland. However, this was involved in escorting convoys to and from the Russian Arctic; no biography of Hubbard has ever suggested that he served in that theatre.
Source: Royal Naval Historical Branch, London

* Hubbard sunk one (or two) enemy submarines off the Oregon coast.
("L. Ron Hubbard - A Chronicle", 1990; "Ron The Poet/Lyricist", 1996)

Hubbard claimed to have sunk at least one enemy submarine in an "engagement" off Tillamook, Oregon, on May 23-25, 1943. However, the subsequent inquiry by the US Navy found that there was no definite evidence of any submarines having been present and that there was a known magnetic deposit nearby on the sea floor which could have caused anomalous readings on Hubbard's detection equipment. The PC class of subchasers were relatively weakly armed; the 317 PCs destroyed only three submarines (only one of those in the Pacific) in the entire war. Furthermore, the Imperial Japanese Navy did not record any submarines having been in the area or being lost at the time in question. Independent intelligence reports published after the war by the United States Navy and Britain's Royal Navy did not record any Japanese submarines having been sunk further east than Hawaii.

Sources: Admiral Fletcher minute of 6 June 1943; Naval Historical Center, Washington D.C.; Jane's Fighting Ships of World War II (1989); Japanese Naval and Merchant Shipping Losses during World War II by all causes (US Navy Department, Feb 1947); German, Italian and Japanese U-Boat Casualties during the War - Particulars of Destruction (UK Admiralty, June 1946)

* Hubbard was machine-gunned/broke an ankle in action against the Japanese/was injured by shrapnel fragments in his hip and back.
(Thomas Moulton testimony in Armstrong trial, 1984 / "Ron The Poet/Lyricist", 1996 / "Ron - Letters and Journals", 1997)

Hubbard's US Navy and Veterans Administration medical files show that he did not suffer any combat-related injuries but instead suffered mainly from a duodenal ulcer, for which he received treatment. He was not awarded the Purple Heart. His autopsy in January 1986 revealed no sign of healed gunshot wounds.
Sources: L. Ron Hubbard summary record of service; Hubbard's Veterans Administration file; US Navy records of medical examinations of Hubbard; L. Ron Hubbard autopsy report

* Hubbard was "crippled and blinded" at the end of the war.
("What Is Scientology?" 1998 ed., and virtually every other official biographical account)

The immediate cause of Hubbard's hospitalisation in 1945 was a duodenal ulcer, for which he received treatment. He also claimed to be suffering from bursitis, arthritis, short-sightedness caused by "exposure to tropical sunlight" and a variety of other complaints.
Sources: Hubbard's Veterans Administration file; US Navy records of medical examinations of Hubbard

scientology.org, the official website of Scientology, is backpedaling like crazy on all of LRH's lies about his WWII record. They give his WWII service a scant few paragraphs:

Quote:
On 29 March 1941 L. Ron Hubbard receives his Master of Sail Vessel license for “Any Ocean.

On 2 July 1941 he is commissioned as Lieutenant (jg) of the United States Navy Reserve. With the outbreak of war in December 1941, Ron is ordered to Australia where he coordinates intelligence activities.

Returning to the United States in March, Ron takes command of a convoy escort vessel in the Atlantic, then a subchaser in the Pacific. He also serves as an instructor and chief navigation officer, and is selected to Princeton University’s Military Government School.

In early 1945, while recovering from war injuries at Oak Knoll Naval Hospital, Ron conducts a series of tests and experiments dealing with the endocrine system. He discovers that, contrary to long-standing beliefs, function monitors structure. With this revolutionary advance, he begins to apply his theories to the field of the mind and thereby to improve the conditions of others.

All of the Scientology books I have show LRH as a "Commander of Corvettes" and tell of him being blind and crippled. I have read LRH's claims that he was machine-gunned and was the first American casualty of war who was flown back to the US in the Secretary of the Navy's private plane.

programmer_guy, that is indeed Mrs. L. Ron Hubbard, affectionately known as Mary Sue, or MSH by Scientologists.

Following her conviction and imprisonment for her felonies in Operation Snow White, she became a non-entity in Scientology and died in obscurity on November 25, 2002 in Los Angeles.

Mary Sue's house on Chislehurst Drive is just north of Los Feliz near Griffith Park. I will take a picture the next time I am up that way so people can see where Mary Sue lived.

Thanks. I would like to see those pictures.

David Rice: Stolen Valor and my in-box

Group: alt.religion.scientology Date: Mon, Aug 8, 2005, 1:18am (CDT+5)

From: desertphile@hot mail.com (David Rice, Esq.)

In the past week I have received a great many emails from American Vets, family members of Vets, and other Americans who have expressed their ire at people who claim military distinctions they have not earned.

More specifically, I have received heart-wrenching emails from people (mostly men and boys, with a woman now and then) who have been awarded military medals for fighting in Vietnam and Indoasia, Lybia, Bush1's Iran-Iraq war, and Bush2's invasion of Iraq. They tell of the pain, fear, and confusion they went through in what they believed to be the service of their country, and express rage at "so-and-sos" who have awarded themselves phony medals and distinctions they have not been officially awarded and have not earned.

Needless to say, many want to find Hubbard and beat the shit out of him, and are dissapointed that Hubbard is dead.

One may, perhaps, help the Act become law in the USA by signing a petition and writing to one's Representatives. The petition is at
http://www.homeofheroes.com/herobill/hr3352.html

If you are a citizen of the USA you may find your Representative at http://www.homeofheroes.com/speakout/index.html

My ex, a public clam, is an OT 8 and has been conned by Scientology for 31 years.

His brother graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy, was Commander of a nuclear submarine and an Admiral.

But apparently my ex has swallowed the Hubbard BS about being a nuclear physicist and a Naval war hero for three decades.

Go figure.

It is sickening that some would lie and claim something that they never earned.

My relative that truly earned his medals was John Preston, WWII veteran.

My family used to visit his family on several Summers when I was a child. AND his children are my cousins.

Honorable Congressman Salazar,

Thank you for proposing the "Stolen Valor Act of 2005." Awards usually come at the expense of personal sacrifice. When a person seeks honor and recognition for acts of valor she or he has not performed, that person insults and diminishes the sacrifices real heroes have made, and disparages the nation's defenders. Every act of stolen valor belittles the country's true heroes. It is a matter of simple respect.

Too many people have been falsely granted attention and respect they have not earned by claiming to be war heroes. It is a gross insult to American men and women who have actually been wounded and who have actually earned the medals and awards that frauds and con-artists falsely claim. It's despicable behavior.

People who claim high military distinction, such as Hubbard and his business, insult and slap the faces of every man and woman who served the United States with distinction, honor, courage, and valor.

I am thankful for the brave and honest individuals who support and protect our countries rights. There are individuals who abuse this and have abused the Integrity of Military awards. This needs to stop. (Notably L. Ron Hubbard leader of creator/leader of Scientology & Dianetics has abused this greatly and has harmed others in the process of doing so to keep this quiet.

The STOLEN VALOR Act is long overdue. Congressman John Salazar is to be commended for proposing it. Real heroes are awarded medals for their courage in keeping America and the world safe and free. Fake heroes use medals (which they never received) seeking to gain power, wealth and fame.

The King of Stolen Valor surely must be L. Ron Hubbard, who made numerous false claims about his World War 2 military service. For over 50 years, Hubbard (who died in 1986) and his business, the "church" of Scientology, have falsely claimed (among other things) that Hubbard received from 21 to 29 awards and was a war hero. Read the real story of RON THE "WAR HERO" http://www.spaink.net/cos/warhero/
Please sign the petition and protect the rights and awards of true American heroes.

I just got this email from David Rice......

> I am going away for a week. Tomorrow I am meeting
> the Governor of New Mexico
> for lunch, and then I'm going to Coplorado to talk
> with Representative John
> Salazar. After that I am doing a Reservation tour to
> talk with the Utes,
> Navajos, and Zunis to warn them about NarConon.

He's doing all this real cool stuff plus he's going to talk to Salazar, the representative that's actually trying to pass this "Stolen Valor" act. How cool is that? I hope Salazar pushes to fine the CoS big time and put some of them in jail too.

CoS's official web chronicle of Ron's life no longer claims "blindness" and medals for valor. See http://www.scientology.org/en_US/l-ron-hubbard/chronicle/pg006.html

Compare Ron's bulging double chin in the above photo to the official single-chinned www.scientology.org photos here, presented as photos of the final decade of Ron's life:
http://www.scientology.org/en_US/l-ron-hubbard/chronicle/pg017.html

Either those photos were enhanced to take out the extra chin fat, or Ron had plastic surgery. You can't just "diet" that kind of chin away.
