The link on Drudge means that Fred is now on one of the major radars of Western culture. Drudge broke the Lewinski story. Drudge breaks a lot of big stories.
For Matt to post this story may possibly mean that he heard something around L.A. and wants to be ahead of all other media outlets in the US when the next wave in this story breaks. I say this because it is a busy news day with Hurricane Wilma, Tom DeLay's arrest warrant, Saddam's trial, and yet Matt Drudge posts this story.
The article quoted Helena as saying, "Changing one letter is the trick of the infringer to try to get around the law, but the law makes it very clear that you can't do that."
Uhhh, Helena, Fred changed three letters to upper case to make "TOM" and simply made a word play on Tom Cruise and Scientology. Word play is parody. A reasonable person could see this site as a parody that is in no way connected with Scientology, especially when they read that part at the top of Fred's website where Fred says the website is a parody that is not connected to Scientology.
Really, Helena, the bigger issue is that Tom Cruise is out ethics across many dynamics and has not been RPF'd for pulling in the heavy joking and degrading that has harmed Scientology's repute and that of COB RTC.
Helena, look, you have not word cleared trademark law on this one and now you are starting to sound shrill.
Ava Paquette has obviously failed to destroy free speech and scienTOMogy is still up in defiance of COB RTC's wishes. Now that Ava has failed to handle this entheta, Helena has had to step in and try to handle this issue. Helena too will fail and then Kendrick will get a Miscavige-O-Gram ordering him to handle it.
This is a Free Speech issue and not a trademark issue. Even Tom Cruise has had his say in the matter during a Rolling Stone interview:
Quote:
"Some people, well, if they don't like Scientology, well, then, fuck you. 'Fuck you. Period.'
This is all the fault of Lee Ann DeVette. Like DM's sister who screwed up big time in business, Tom's sister Lee Ann has screwed up Tom's career big time with bad advice and bad PR handling. ScienTOMogy is a symptom of how badly Lee Ann has screwed up Tom's career by allowing him to show his inner monkey. For example, why did Lee Ann allow Tom to publicly attack someone as likeable as Brooke Shields over her use of anti-depressants? This caused Brooke to say that Tom:
Quote:
should stick to saving the world from aliens and let women suffering the condition decide what treatment options are best for them'.
What right does Tom Cruise have to tell a woman what she may or may not do in terms of her own medical care? Who is Tom Cruise to insist that Brooke Shields should obey his body thetan eradication religious belief system?
*****
Tom Cruise saw what Mel Gibson did with "The Passion of the Christ" and how Mel was globally lauded and enriched by showing us a gruesome depiction of the last hours of the life of Jesus.
Maybe Tom can make, "The Passion of L. Ron Hubbard" and allow us to see Ron's last hours in a Bluebird motorhome parked on a dirt field at a secluded California ranch? That would be a truly interesting movie to see Ron, the Source, dying in a hazy post-stroke fear and trembling -- screaming for someone to get his body thetans off him -- while kindly Dr. Denk injects him repeatedly with the psychiatric drug Vistaril. It would be the story of how a major cult figure dies and it would make hundreds of millions of dollars. As cult leaders go, they don't get much bigger than L. Ron Hubbard. People would cluster to see such a movie, for the story of Ron's real death would be far more interesting than Battlefield Earth.
We will perhaps never see a movie showing us how Hubbard died, but at least we are watching a fascinating story unfold about how a major Hollywood star's career has begun to die as a consequence of his own miltitant religious fascism, his foolish and unrestrained lunatic public behavior, and his own sister's very bad PR advice. This truly is quite a story and scienTOMogy is now a part of the story of what happened to Tom on his way down.
Fred's part of the story is about the power of one person using the internet to call a major Hollywood star on his bullshit and to challenge a major religious cult. Fred's is a David vs Goliath story and I find it to be immensely interesting.
It could be a movie Fred! Maybe Tom will play himself for scale by the time it gets made next year! At the rate his public image and marketability is freewheeling down the Tone Scale, it is either the ScienTOMogy movie or The Freewinds Dinner Theater.
