Long-time lurker, first-time poster....so go easy on me please.
I saw the Today show segment this morning. Towards the end of it they were talking about how NASCAR is discriminating about who they will let advertise. They said, for example, they would not allow a porn company advertise because it does not fit in in what they find acceptable.
WTF??? They allow killer cults to advertise and that is more acceptable than videotaped sex? I, personally, would be less offended by a porn sponsored car than the cult.
Have there been letters/emails/etc sent to NASCAR officials educating them on the dangers of the Scieno-nuts?
Clowermom, thank you for picking this thread for your very first post, and welcome!
I think the difference is purely in education about what $cientology is. I’ll give you an example from the South Park episode about the Super Adventure Club. Stan had this exchange with the doctor who was helping Chef that went something like this:
Dr.: But Isn’t the Super Adventure Club a hiking and nature club?
Stan: No that’s the Adventure Club, the Super Adventure Club molests children.
Dr.: Oh, yeah that’s right I forgot.
You see many people may have heard something about $cientology being strange but it didn’t really stick with them. In fact people even get it confused with Christian Science!!
Or at worst many people have generally thought of $cientology as some science-based harmless quaint little philosophy that appeals to the Hollywood jet set types. Few ever knew it was a
nutty, litigious, criminal sci-fi cult built from the blithering madness of a mediocre science fiction writer, even dispite the Time magazine story of a few years ago.
But $cientology venturing into NASCAR will only help spread the truth of what they are even further. Now that they’re trying to push it into mainstream, putting it right in there with Motherhood, Apple Pie and Baseball, now they better be prepared – because Mom’s about to find out who they really are!!
