DR. Donna Shannon Great posting on not signing that cults crap . I am so happy your letting everyone know how scientology really is and letting the rest of us know not to do the OT levels . Your helping many people by doing that and i thank you very much. Please keep up the great job.
Everyone keep telling the true harms of scientology . Scientology does not think we will speak out and really does not want us too at all . It is called BAD PR but we really know that just means Truth about how scientology really is so lets put the cult of scientology in its place by speaking the true harms of scientology . SCIENTOLOGY SUCKS .

Welcome Dr Shannon and thank you sooooooooooo much for sharing your story and feelings. Sorry I didnt welcome you earlier.

The more of us ex-SO tell our stories and emotions related to being in the SO, the more similarities we share, the more people will see its not because one person and 'overts and witholds' and thats why she is leaving but because the SO (and frankly $cientology period) is dangerous to your mental health!

I too remember when I left, how great it felt to just do what 'I' wanted to do without any restrain. Just being free or being controlled for almost everything. Wonderful and amazing feeling.
I cant figure out today how someone can even contemplate to go back.

I have a friend who was offline for about 10 years and I didnt hear from him for about that long. He didnt know I had left about 4 years ago when he contacted me again and learned that 1-I wasnt 'in' anymore and 2- I was taking medications because I got very sick (GAD=generalized anxiety disorder). He told me he felt he had lost 10 years of his life (because he was out for 10 years)
Go figure!!!!!!!!
Anyway, I didnt hear from him anymore. Wonder why?

Please keep sharing. I love it! And I can relate to many things you say which do help me. And I am not the only one that is for sure!

My wife and I started over in 1991. I was excommunicated and in the goldenrod, accused of communicating with my wife. We had a daughter who never would have been born while on staff. I developed skills as a photographer; again something impossible for most staff to achieve.

Welcome back to the world, Dr. Shannon and congratulations! Sharing your story benefits many people in addition to being part of the recovery process.

Thank you Dr. Shannon for sharing your story here. Like you, my "wake up call" came when things got SOOOooo crazy and so far from what I thought I signed up for that I had no choice but to object, at which point I was kicked out after a few weeks of trying to "handle" my "situation" with the MAA. Your story of waiting outside the ethics office and cleaning the dining hall and galley and not allowed to even speak to my family, friends, roomates or anyone or even say goodbye to anyone is so true. I am glad you and your husband stayed together and left together.

I am so curious...did "Captain Cook" have to divorce her Aussie husband after he failed to graduate the RPF? Is Yvonne Jason still married to that old security guard after her husband Don Jason got offloaded for his part in the Lisa McPherson case? Where is Peter Buttery (former Class XII C/S) now that he cracked his skull falling from the folder storage ladder where he was assigned after Lisa died? Is Christine Buttery still a Flag executive? Who replaced Bo Wennberg as FSC INT? Is Barbro Wennberg still in the galley?

I have a hundred other questions, maybe some answers too.

Chip, we were accused and "found guilty" of communicating honestly with each other and our close family members also. They should call it "out 3D", not "out-2D"!

Welcome to OCMB! Ladybird

I'm sorry, I don't know many of the answers to your questions. Barbro was an MAA when I was public, then disappeared. I, of course, was told she was "transferred". I did see her right before we left, though, back on some "normal" post (if such a thing exists in the SO).

Ol' Debbie has a good-looking husband, sounds like maybe he is an aussie, can't remember his name. He's in charge of Div 6 at FSO now.

The others, I don't know.

So sorry to hear about Trina Kjeldsen. I feared as much, as she was being given an "assists program" and probably didn't get much else (just conjecture, here- I don't have the facts).

It is somewhat therapeutic to write these stories, especially under my real name, as I want my former friends to read them. I am impressed by the number of people reading these posts, so perhaps I am helping someone. It is never easy to admit to yourself that you have been screwed- bad- for a period of your life. With the $cientology indoctrination, it is even harder, as you could go into self-invalidation. I only lost 10 years of the prime of my life, and about $1.2 million. At least I didn't lose my family, so really, I had it pretty easy. I also gained a wonderful husband, who I probably wouldn't have met otherwise.

Just remember, living well is the best revenge!

Dr. Shannon, like the others who are reading your story, I am impressed by your writing and your courage. Have you been "fair gamed?" Are you worried?

I completely agree with I'mglib. Your stories are some of the best personal stories I've ever read. I'm sort of envious of your courage to come here and post exactly what happened and who did what. I can see how that would be therapuetic, and I'm glad you're doing it that what way.

--You just tell like it is. Thank you.

So far, other than being followed, and sending my former "friends" from $cientology to get info, or having them call me, nothing has happened. I have made friends with all my neighbors, and they know our story, and the situation. Our house is constantly watched by neighborhood people.

I have contacted several lawyers, and other professionals, who know what is going on, and are familiar with the "fair game" thing. My friends all over the world know, and so, should anything happen, I will become a martyr and create some REALLY bad PR for them.

I decided that I have to tell the truth. I don't have to make up lies about any of this. I wish I did!! I can't really influence anyone if I hide behind a pseudonym, so here I am.

One has to make a decision. I did.

Some of the so-called Fair Game activities have resulted in terrible black eyes for Scientology, Inc. When it is caught on video like the violence against protesters in Clearwater, there isn't much of a denial or acceptable truth possible.

Holding people against their will is illegal. People should be able to walk away if they make the decision. Hopefully OSA, their minion, org staff, etc. have had a cognition in this area.
