It's a fact that certain Rep. leadership knew what was going on. They aren't going to easily admit to it or give his donation half mil back either.

Foley's playing the blame game - if he admits to having had or goes to legitimate psychiatrists, they are clearly not going to put the pederasty/pedophilia eggs in the homosexual basket. They aren't the same. Neither would they let him get away with 'I was abused so I had no choice/became an abuser'.

However, there is a certain religion that will/would say that it's an 'abberation' and curable without psychiatry - which is why his behavior ran unchecked for as long as it did. The spotlight of blame for him would then be (at least momentarily) off of the Republicans.

I'm not saying that he is possibly in a Co$ facility for this reason - but the public is demanding a head or two on a pike. At this point, I don't think it's wise for a Scientologist to blindly defend them without a few more facts coming out; if they're going to complain that the critics are rushing to judgment. Is this something you'd want to be wrong about?

All good points Clamdigrr. However, I bet you an hour of auditing that the filthy $500,000 is returned. That is poison money come November. Who wants to tell voters that they kept Mark Foley's money?

Notes:

1. Foley hasn't been charged with anything yet. I think an indictment will be quickly handed down because the Republicans have to put Foley's head on a pike. IMO, the Republicans will pressure a Federal prosector for indictments before the Nov. elections because they have to look tough on crime. I think Foley will plea bargain because he doesn't want to answer for those IM's in open court.

2. I have no idea if my "source" is correct. I posted these as rumors to show you how hot the rumor mill is. It is ironic that Florida, the state that allowed Bush to come to power, could be the same state the causes the Republicans to lose power. A Democratic House and/or Senate will be nasty with GW Bush and will hobble him with investigations.

3. I got an e-mail telling me that neither Narconon nor Scientology would be allowed by their rules to help someone like Mark Foley. I could see Narconon and Scientology telling the guy no for PR reasons.

4. Question for the former CoS execs: How do you think Scientology would handle Mark Foley if he came to them and asked for auditing or detox and had $100,000 to spend?

I was driving home tonight and heard on the radio that the Democratic Campaign Comittee knew about Foley for quite some time and decided to drop the bomb at an opportune political time. That would mean that they endangered minors by sitting on the information. If that's true, BOTH parties will be under serious investigation and Co$ won't have anywhere to hide in this giant mess. The real question is: Did Co$ pay him with check, CASH, or real estate?
