The fight is by no means over. I've been trying to email all of you
on my list separately, but I'm losing that battle, what with my 2 jobs
and being ill this past week. We're seeing Keith's lawyer soon so
we'll be prepared for the March 5 hearing.
I've taken custody of the $5,000 raised for Keith through the
Extropian list but haven't extracted anything from it for the $5,000
bail or the attorney fees so far. We really appreciate the money, and
I'm hanging onto it as a local source of money for paying lawyer
bills, fees, whatever is necessary for Keith's legal expenses.
And we really appreciate all the efforts to let the public know what
is happening. Keith heard that there have been over 1,000 contacts
(email, telephone, letters) going to the office of the Governor of
Arizona. His plight has been mentioned on the Vince Daniels show, and
there have been myriad blogs and articles on the Web.
Especially during the weekend that Keith was in jail I received many
calls and emails, including phone calls from people I hadn't heard
from in years. It was an outpouring of kindness and compassion that
helped me cope despite the fact of being alone.
Keith expressed his gratitude to those on the Extropian list who
helped raise funds and otherwise help as follows:
"Please excuse my ignorance of the details of last weekend re the fund
> raising for my bail and legal expenses. Little problem with not much
> communication while in jail, and the backlog of list postings and email may
> be beyond ever catching up with.
> Natasha of course created the fund in the middle of ExI shutting down and
> used ExI's good reputation for the campaign. Robert Bradbury, Amara Graps,
> PJ, Jay, and many, many others were instrumental. If I didn't mention you,
> it isn't because I don't appreciate your efforts. Don't hesitate to take
> credit, either here or in private email.
> Anyway, a major thanks to all of you!"
He asked me to extend his gratitude to you as well.
I've been forwarding email that some of you sent me, so he has some
idea of what was done while he was in jail, but this has been a
disorganized effort on my part, and Keith is overwhelmed with email
and having trouble with one email account. He's been writing a paper
for a conference, trying to catch up with email and all the blogs and
lists and other stuff about him, while keeping the place where we live
warm and repaired, and being supportive of my working (preparing
meals, etc.). I've suggested that one way Keith might extend his
thanks to those outside the Extropian list would be to write a note of
thanks and request that it be posted on the "Operating Thetan" Web
site at www.operatingthetan.com
I see from looking at that page that the Extropian fund link is still
active, so I'm going to see what I can do to have that link removed
and update the page. (By gosh, though, I'm the last person on the
planet who should complain that someone is behind in doing something!)
We are desperately hoping that there will be no occasion for news
unless it's interviews or rehashing of what has passed until the
hearing on March 5. It'll be interesting to see what the
$cientologists, through their henchmen and henchwomen (homage to
"Johnny Dangerously") at the County of Riverside, try to put over at
that time. If I'm at all able to do so, I'll let you know what
happens at that hearing as soon as I possibly can.
Until then, I'll continue trying to communicate with each of you
personally, express our gratitude for your efforts, and let you know
how much what you have done and are doing means to me--personally.
With many, many thanks to each and every one of you, and to those you
have contacted to spread the word--whose names I might not even know.
