Manistee drug rehab center may open in August 

MANISTEE â€" Narconon Stone Hawk is continuing work to open a drug rehabilitation center in Manistee, and company officials now expect it to begin operations in August, not May.

The company, headed by Per and Kate Wickstrom, bought the old Manistee Heights Care Center building from Tendercare in early January, and the Wickstroms said in October 2006 that their rehab facility would employ about 45 to 80 people when itâ's completed and filled.

"Everything's been coming in with about twice as much construction cost as we expected," Per Wickstrom said Tuesday.
One of the expenses is for asbestos testing, Per said.
