Well...there's one thing for sure that Falwell and Hubbard have in common....they're both DEAD!

Very true. I just wonder: if this MB had existed back in early 1986, who would post "obscene" posts about the long overdue demise of Hubbard?

And if (*) suddenly snuffs it, who would be outraged by comments like "Ding Dong, the witch is dead" and "Good riddance" as eulogies?

Nice post, Morsicle. (not being sarcastic.)

So you converted TO Christianity?

Very interesting- and cool.

Are you kidding? Why is it acceptable to call atheists "Talibatheists", but not acceptable to announce that one is not mourning the demise of a hateful, prejudiced, disgusting old jerk like Jerry Falwell.

Mark Morford did a great piece on Falwell:

Let the man speak for himself! (Unless of course, your religious delicacies are easily upset. )

I was going to write a long diatribe, but I just realized it wasn't worth my time.

Take it from the bible, politics and religion don't mix, to involve Christiantity directly in other things takes away from the legitimacy of both.

Morsicle and darkside, most Christians didn't like Jerry Falwell, most atheists didn't like him either, he was a failure as a human being but that doesn't mean we should glorify his death, heralding it as a victory is idiotic, he was an important figure, but most people know that the movement that he was involved in isn't actually evangelical christianity, it's something wholly different, evangelicals are mostly about love, which was most certainly not what Jerry Falwell was about.

Someone will rise to replace him, if nothing but to be king of shit mountain. It always happens when power vacuums occur.

Fanacticism and fundamentalism are one in the same, and occur on both sides.
