I wonder, as it has been reported from various sources that those
attending were applauding enthusiastically to such displays.

Admittedly, I find it puzzling how so many go along with such
reprehensible behavior by top management. Doesn't it occur to any of
them that it's getting creepy? How about Katie Holmes? I would think she
has not been inside long enough to easily go along with all this...

Arnie, that was an outstanding post with excellent research sources. I too wonder how long David Miscavige and other Scientology leaders can keep escalating their hate speech against psychiatry before they are seen by the membership as being a dangerous liability to Scientology itself? Scientology's irrationally vitriolic stance towards psychiatry is self-destructive because it paints the group as being angry, unscientific, and ignorant zealots.

David Miscavige continues to marginalize Scientology with his violent rhetoric. All one needs to do is to hear his speeches to see that Scientology is:

A HATE GROUP.

A MASTER RACE GROUP.

A GROUP THAT IS ISOLATED FROM MAINSTREAM SOCIETY.

A GROUP COMMITTED TO CONFRONTATION.

As I always say, all the critics need to do is to keep telling the truth about Scientology and the Cult's self-destructive nature will do the rest.

I think the danger is very real. The anti-abortion movement had (still has?) unhinged members who killed doctors at family planning clinics in the name of preserving life. CoS has enough of its own unhinged to present a risk to those in the psychiatric profession. Of course, if it does happen, Scientology will immediately distance itself like it did with the Australia killings. But they will be investigated up to the federal level. You can bet on it. The feds will pick up the trail leading to DM and his global obliteration plan for the psychs. It will be unveiled to the public who will wonder why an organization favoring any kind of obliteration which could be translated into terrorism is tax-exempt.

I hope Katie wasn't standing by her man and clapping away at DM's appaling proposals, whatever they portend. If so, TC picked the one he wanted, no backbone, always agreeable, honored to be his wife, Suri's mom, Connor and Isabella's stepmom. I feel for her family. I feel for the families of all who were there.

I think that the violent anti-psych rhetoric will continue to intensify and that it will cause ne'ery a ripple within CoS because DM & co. are simply parroting the same sort of bully-boy language that LRH used in slamming the psychs and other "enemies." Knock 'em out ... obliterate the enemy ... find the SP and then shoot. LRH often spoke like this, and Scientologists who have been fed his taped lectures for years wouldn't bat an eye at it.

The rhetoric will be curbed only if the curb is imposed from outside. Which may well happen, once the American Psychiatric Assn., news media, and others get wind of what is being said at CoS gatherings -- against a backdrop of pyrotechnics.

I immediately saw the same parallel that you did vis-à-vis anti-abortion violence. It would not surprise me in the least to see some disturbed Scientologist take violent action against a psychiatric clinic. CoS would, of course, quickly distance itself from that individual. But would the denial of responsibility hold up when it's revealed that Scientologists are exposed to Hubbard's hate-filled rants against psychiatry for years on end?

No, it won't hold up, Songbird. Bad enough that we have 1000 Al Quaeda operatives in this country, but the American public doesn't have to put up with a renegade home-grown "religion" that poses a threat to the medical infrastructure of this country. If it happens, it will be time to yank the purse strings and stop giving them a free ride, make it rough on them all the way by refusing tax exemption. Scientology thinks it is untouchable because it is a religion. Do they even know that the Catholic Church just lost a huge sexual abuse case and will have to shell out 600 million to 500 plaintiffs?

So much of this is about power and lack of. The Scientologists seem powerless to get rid of DM who is at the core of their problem. If he goes, they will probably get another one just like him or worse.

Well, it appears I must be doing SOMETHING! Today, I go to school
riding my bike as usual (I'm only about 15 minutes... maybe less, away
from the college.) I noticed a strange looking car, but hey! It's
California... lots of odd cars, right?

Anyway, this guy is a Hindu, no mustache, but bald and appropriately
darker skin and he had some white hair growing in. It also happened to
be after I posted some "bring it on" posts on ARS addressed to OSA...
the KGB of the Church of Scientology.

Anyway, I decided that same day that I would wear my "$cientology Suck
Suckers Dry: alt.religion.scientology" t-shirt with the "www.xenu.net"
web address on the back. I go in for only an hour to my class and when
I get out, my tires are slashed on my bike. What's more odd is that as
I'm walking my bike home (only took me about a half hour), I notice
this guy is still parked just chillin' until he sees me where he then
starts his car up and turns around. I remember he had a lawn mower on
the back. It's weird too, because he wasn't mowing anyones lawns. How
do I know? There's a special GROUP of very nice Mexican folks who do
the entire block. And they were on the other side of the neighborhood.
Odd, don't you think?

The Church of Scientology has a wonderful reputation for harassing
critics and ex-church members. Nice church.
