Why can't I post image links? (either the raw link or an inline [img] link)

When I try, part of the original link gets changed to "smileforever" after I submit or preview the post.

Example:

I get this result....
http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/7815 ... istld7.jpg

....after trying to post this (with an added space after the "imageshack" dot so you can see what the full link looks like)....
http://img183.imageshack. us/img183/7815/kenmoxonfistld7.jpg

Other people seem to be posting image links OK and the above one was posted OK as an inline [IMG] by somebodyelse earlier.

This only started happening after the recent forum spamming.

It's one of the temporary measures to stop the image spamming. Until I am reasonably confident there are no longer a campaign to harass users and sabotage debate here by spamming with grotesque images, I will block all image from public servers known to also host such material. You can still link to images on serious and non-anonymous servers.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but some seem to believe it is their right to limit yours.

That's what I though Andreas but I can't understand why the same image link was posted by another poster today without any problem and yet I can't post it.

I use PhotoBucket and Picasa. Are these servers on the list? I can't use the tags either.

This method isn't ideal as it seems like the word blocking doesn't always work the same way. I have to see the example you refer to before I can analyse it.

If it doesn't work it probably is. Hopefully this will be a temporarily measurement only. I don't want to post too much details on what we do to stop spam.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

No problem at all. I'd gladly go without if it will help with security.

See the very example I gave in my first post in this thread.
Or these images that were posted by another member in the first post here....

When I tried to post them I got the censor.

Edit: I've been trying out a few things in someone else's test post here...
