LOS ANGELES (AP) - August 28, 2009 -- Kelly Preston is pulling out of the annual Women's Conference, where she was to break her silence about the death of her teenage son.

The actress said in a statement Friday that she is "still deeply in the process of healing, and it's just too soon."

Preston was set to participate in a panel on grief at the annual event hosted by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and First Lady Maria Shriver.

Preston and her husband, John Travolta, have kept low profiles since their 16-year-old son, Jett, died following a seizure in January.

The Women's Conference will be held Oct. 26-27 in Long Beach, Calif.

One of Hollywood’s big questions right now is whether John Travolta is having serious doubts about Scientology. Added to that question now is his future with wife Kelly Preston. They are having a very difficult time dealing with the loss of their son Jett who passed away this past January. I don’t think anyone ever gets over a death of someone that is near and dear to their hearts, and healing from a tragedy such as this can prove to be both exhausting and devastating.It is especially hard to function after a death if you are always under the microscope of paps and fans. But that is part of the package deal of being famous.

It was just announced that John and Kelly have backed out of being part of the Maria Shriver’s Annual Women’s Conference this October, due to Kelly saying they were just not ready to speak out about their son’s death. Totally understandable. This cancellation was only one of many signs that their son’s death has really taken a huge toll on them.

The current issue of National Enquirer features the cover story ‘On Third Anniversary of Tragedy – John Travolta Walks Out.’ The magazine claims that John Travolta had a shocking breakdown over his dead son Jett Travolta. His wife Kelly Preston was in tears as he sobbed to Kelly,‘I still blame myself for Jett’s death.’

John Travolta’s son Jett Travolta, 16, died in [Jan 2nd] 2009 in the Bahamas, reportedly from a seizure and hitting his head on a bathtub. His seizures were frequent and as such he was rarely left alone. He was hospitalized when he was 15 months old with Kawasaki disease, a rare illness that mainly affects young children. It’s treatable but can have unforeseen complications, including lasting damage to the heart. Travolta has called Jett “my heart” in the past.
