This is a supplemental article appearing today on the front page but not in the main Truth Rundown section, Part 3, Chapter 2......

Has Scientology been watching Pat Broeker for two decades?
http://www.tampabay.com/news/scientology/article1048116.ece

Pat Broeker, in this 35-year-old photo, was named a “loyal officer’’ by L. Ron Hubbard,
the highest rank the church founder bestowed.

So, that's at least 18 years, documented from 1989 - 2007, and there's no reason to believe scientology has stopped it's Op on Broeker today in 2009. Is this a record?

Maybe they have been after Gerry Armstrong since even longer?

I'm pretty sure they have been after him as soon as he left in late 1981.

This was a double wedding on December 10, 1974. Gerry married Terri Gillham, and Pat Broeker married Trudy Venter. Hubbard gave away the brides.

Gerry says they were after him before he left. Norman Starkey went ballistic and ordered him sec checked because Gerry was critical of Hubbard calling himself a nuclear physicist. (See Gerry's letter to Cirrus Slevin of 25 November 1981.) Gerry escaped on 12 December 1981.

Caroline,
These pictures are so interesting. WOW. It is so funny how we all thought that Elron was God back then and when you look at these pictures he seems just like another dirty old fat man. And by the way, where were Mary Sue, Diana, Quinton and Arthur? Has Gerry had any contact with Terri since she left in 90?

Hi Scie-No-Mo,

I know what you mean about those photos! The "Apollo" was at the time in Freeport in the Bahamas. Mary Sue and Diana were off the ship on a Christmas shopping trip to the US. Gerry doesn't recall if Quentin or Arthur were on board. Gerry hasn't had any contact with Terri since she testified for Scientology against him at trial in LA in 1984.

Caroline,
I testified for Scientology against my ex in court years ago. Fortunately he had the class and grace to forgive me when I asked for it (he is a very distinguished member of this board by the way - I might not stay anonymous for all that long anymore) - here's hoping that Gerry and Terri will be able to pull off an understanding of one another that will enrich both of their lives - believe me, I know it will. You and Gerry are a few of the true heroes, true, true heroes of the battle of exposing Scientology. I have read just about everything you've posted over the last several years and how classy Gerry was in his initial bringing up the outpoints in LRH's story. I hope my words of appreciation and admiration helps slightly. You guys have truly been put through hell. I (having not experienced the torture of living it) think you will live to see the benefits to being courageous and having integrity. I hope these words help.

Even at a wedding where other people got married Hubbard hogged the spotlight.

The standard seating arrangement at weddings is the bride and groom at the head table with the wedding party on either side. Everyone else, including parents, clergy, and guests go at other tables.

At that wedding, Hubbard sat at the head of the table. That made him the star of the wedding and the brides and grooms into supporting roles.

"Do as I say, not as I do" must have been his motto. It seems he hardly ever, if ever, granted anyone else any "beingness" at all.

They truly help. And still tragically, Scientologists hate them, and any words like them. This situation is psychically awesome.

Class and grace to forgive is right, Scie-no-mo. Gerry has only kindness for Terri, and we imagine would share a lot of laughs and love if they ever communicated again. Thank you for your very loving thoughts.

Had the advice in it been heeded, Gerry's letter to Cirrus Slevin of 25 November 1981 would have transformed the Church of Scientology with respect to LRH's bio. It would have been a slam dunk for CoS to blame the factual errors on some nameless, gushing PR hack and then do an LRH Bio reboot in 1982. That was 27 years ago. Had CoS heeded Gerry's advice and integrity, LRH's bio would have been a non-issue. Ironically, LRH's dishonest biography has in fact served as a wide open, brightly-lighted, eight-lane bridge across which armies of critics have driven unimpeded in their mechanized columns. The lies only began to disappear after it was far too late.

Why did CoS remain committed for too long to the self destructive lie that was LRH's biography? This behavior is Scientology's ruin: It continually remains committed to self-destructive lies, policies, and programs that are demonstrably false. Super Power comes to mind.

Gerry's letter argues that Norman Starkey sealed his own doom in Scientology. Again, it would have been a slam dunk for DM to produce Gerry's letter as a reason to remove Norman from power after using him. Norman's commitment to a false LRH biography was one of many actions that landed Norman in his present residence, namely the infamous "Hole" in Int Base RPF. A private Scientology prison, the Hole is a theta trap if ever there were.

Hard to know who the record holder is, isn't it? At least, until such a time as CoS records become public, or enough ex-GO/OSA whistleblowers come forward.

Even Gerry's ex (and her sister & friends) were getting PI time from 1990 until 2009, ( http://www.tampabay.com/news/scientology/scientology-what-happened-in-vegas-part-2-of-3-in-a-special-report-on-the/1048123 ) and I suspect there are a number of others who have been treated in a similar fashion.

Amazing....truly. I can never get over what babies they (and I) were,
way back then. We so much thought Hubbard was "it" and he had the
answers.............at least I did.

It is amazing to look at those photos of the wedding (see above) and realize almost ALL of those people are either out, or dead.

Is Janet Weiland still "in"? She was the VP after me, when I escaped out
in 2000. She was at LAX when I first left, telling me:
"We know where you're going, you're NOT going to see those people". (She's in the photo album, some pages down: Page 11
"Seated at left: Janet Thompson (later Weiland)."

Did you ever hear the story of my first meeting Gerry, once I was out,
Caroline? Wow.

And Pat has had an OP for all these years? I wondered about he, too.
I'd heard Annie was locked up at "Int", forever. However, what of
Pat? I hope he's Ok.

My best to you all Wink

Thank's for posting that link Swift! Smile - I'd forgetten where to find that letter.

It is amusing, or harrowing, to note that Gerry found it neccessary to explain that lying is a bad thing. And that in a group that prides itself of being the most ethical of all..

Not only did Gerry find it neccesary to explain the concept in such detail, but between the lines you can 'read' that he also recognised the futility.
