Ah yes, the totally ingenious LRon. Pretty early on it was quite apparent that the claims outlined on the $cientology Grade Chart (aka Bridge to Total Freedom) were not really being attained, especially the described abilities that were supposed to be gained on the OT Levels. Therefore, LRon came out with a policy on Hidden Standards that stated something to the effect that you would not make case gain (ie: gain the abilities on the "Bridge") if you had some standard in mind that you would have to accomplish in order to believe you had made that level. So back when the Grade Chart stated OT VIII was the ability to have "total cause over matter, energy, space, and time" -- if you decided you would be able to lift cars when you reached that level -- that was considered a "hidden standard" that would keep you from reaching that level. Pretty ingenious, eh? And they have ways to handle these "hidden standards" so that you can attest to OT VIII without having the abilities you are supposed to have, and feel good about it! I don't have OT VIII abilities because I feel I should have OT VIII abilities as documented on the Grade Chart -- ok, I've been handled on that and now I feel good about not having the abilities they advertise. Yes, quite ingenious indeed! _________________ See Ya, Bye! |

Care to elaborate?
And I don't think I could be bribed into going into Scientology again. What I would be more interested in, is seeing the materials he bastardized in order to come up with more practical, real-life-applicable 'tech.' As well as the esoterica and chemicals he "consulted" for the higher stuff. |

"Knowing and willing cause over thought, life, form, matter, energy, space and time subjective and objective." That was the ability gained for "operating thetan level eight" on the scientology "grade chart" as written by L. Ron Hubbard.
Did anyone see The Watchmen? The blue guy had some of that and a person who has achieved "operating thetan level eight" should be able to do everything that the blue guy in that movie did and more. The more that they should be able to do is to influence the world view and the attitudes of people in the world.
Not only should things be getting better for a person who has achieved that level but they should be getting better for all of scientology and they should be getting better throughout society and the environment at large. None of that is a "hidden standard" per the stated ability gained.
Some things get in the way. One is that no one has demonstrated any of that. Things are not getting better for scientology. They are getting worse. Things are not improving in the world at a staggeringly phenomenal rate. In addition to that scientology has changed the statement of the ability gained for "operating thetan level eight." Hello! That's bait and switch and that's indicative of a fraudulent confidence game.
At this point, someone could demonstrate that they had achieved those abilities as stated on the "grade chart" and I still wouldn't go back. I've had all the abuse from that organization that I care for and then some, thank you. _________________ Reading List: http://www.worldcat.org./profiles/Wieber/lists/563909 scientology is a cult. -1 +1 "Then they fight you, then you win." I would march down to the local Org right now, give up my worldly possessions, take my beloved dogs to the pound, sign a billion year contract to join the Sea Org, and accept that I am a degraded being worthy only of being a punching bag for an asthmatic dwarf....
If a group of Scilons could -- under controlled conditions, set up and observed by a group of scientists picked by James Randi -- replicate of all of the OT phenomena claimed in a single copy of Advance! magazine.
Considering Scilontology's track record over the past six decades, I doubt that my dogs need to worry. _________________ L. Ron Hubbard ate my balls! |

There is nothing I can think of that would make me do that. Except, maybe, 'Battlefield Earth 2". If that gets made, then I know that those superpowers really do exist, and resistance is futile.

Imagine an OT slamming cars on your head until you repent!! - Will that get you to come!!?

1. It would have to be true.

It has been 20+ years, but it seems like there were auditing actions to handle hidden standards, and at times ethics handling.... but sorry, its been too longer since I was on the auditor side of the emeter to remember anything specific. Can someone more recently free of the cult provide additional info on this? _________________ See Ya, Bye! |

Fat chance on Battlefield Earth 2 ever being made.
Here's Battlefield Earth's Box Office Mojo page:
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=battlefieldearth.htm
Battlefield Earth had a production budget of $73,000,000.
To date it has grossed $29,725,663 world wide.
Thanks to the 1,696 people who gave it a 10 out of 10 rating on IMDB it is now out of the IMDB bottom 100 although with a current rating of 2.3 it is going to take dedicated sea organization members a long time to raise it into the Top 250. _________________ Reading List: http://www.worldcat.org./profiles/Wieber/lists/563909 scientology is a cult. -1 +1 "Then they fight you, then you win." OCMB is a tough crowd to work.
Would you become a Scientologist if it meant a permanent end to your crippling jaw pain?
