| Read Tommy Davis' reply. Will somebody please get him in a straitjacket or at least cut off the electricity to his computer before he embarrasses himself and his beloved ecclesiastic church even further. |

Scientologits[mispelling intended] have been flagging the negative comments about scientology on these SP Times articles.
Due to the change of commenting system, also now requiring registration btw, when you use the "Report Abuse" link on a comment it has the effect of removing the comment immediately for review by a human at the SP Times before it either gets put back or binned.
Apparently, the SP Times staff are aware of this malicious flagging. Not sure if they are going to do anything about it right away but I hope this behaviour gets column space in the next chapter, or in a special editorial. _________________ http://forums.whyweprotest.net

I am extremely glad to see Mike Rinder and Marty Rathbun talking about the Bob Minton affair. The web is being unweaved. _________________

What's amazing is that Rinder says that he and Minton are now friends, after all that. How is that possible??? _________________ Scientology and Human Trafficking? You decide.

I became friends with a person who used to torment me on a regular basis when I was in. We later became friends, after we both got out, of course. People do change. Many people are not themselves when they are in deep- meaning on full time staff at an Org, or in the Sea Org. When you get out of that kind of situation (sleep deprived, heavily indoctrinated believer), hopefully you regain your true self again.
That's why I tend to give most exes the benefit of the doubt no matter what they did when they were in. But I'll also admit there are a few that I could never ever be friends with. Because I suspect that the ugly souls they were, is who they really are. _________________ -Dorothy Gale

My favorite comment to Tommy Davis' response:
| Quote: | rhetorical question wrote:
I teach university level critical thinking and what is most disturbing to me is Scientology's technique of apparently cutting off the critical thinking capacity in its followers. Yes people are sometimes "happier" not having to think critically, but definitely not better off in the long run. This letter is fascinating for all of the logical fallacies (a favorite seems to be ad hominem) and poorly constructed arguments it reveals, and its position of complete intolerance to criticism of any kind, which in an individual is a sign of either narcissistic personality disorder or the paralysis of critical thinking due to brainwashing. I think it would be valuable for this newspaper to seriously analyze the slippery and logically invalid rhetorical strategies Scientology uses, both in its initiatory indoctrination exercises, and in defense letters such as this. |
OK, we see logical fallacies in media coverage constantly, but Tommy really takes it to new heights. _________________ You're so screwed, so screwed, the Way to Slappiness is the way to flappiness. |
