Magoo, keep this thread alive, it's not dead. I share your concerns re: Merlin as a so called moderator. He (or she) is not the end all to end all w/ respect to $cn. He/she made a grave error earlier to make claims that I was a Dr. Pepper poster, of which I was not, nor was ever, but lends itself to suspect.

Merlin is anonymous! As is Galileo, as is Cerridwen. NO ONE knows U-Mike IRL. Trust is best served by face-to-face contact.

That's not to say Merlin is bad or dubiuos -- just biased, prejudiced, and flawed as all mortals are....... except for Al Rum Hubyrd and his followers.

Merlin, the amusements of the late Queen Victoria may have some meaning or personal wisdom for you, but I'd suspect there are many here that view $cn's wrath and horror as far more reaching and threatening in modern times, than your reliance upon old English expressions to hide a head in the sand.

No, Tom, we'll do this in public, or not at all. When you make statements about people (including my humble self) in this forum, directly or by inference and innuendo, you had better be prepared to back them up.

See, I believe in free speech; perhaps that's why I don't do as much "so-called" moderating as some might wish. I want everyone who reads OCMB to hear what you have to say, and what you really mean when you say it.

Merlin, I often speak in the royal "we". It is a point of amusement in my family when I say "we" should do this or that...

I will be the first in line to welcome UM or any of the others I percieve to be on the Hubbard side of the fence once they jump over.

There are lots of nice people to give them the benefit of the doubt...excuse me, but I am once burnt and twice shy.

I am not trying to cave anyone in, or drive them off, I just intend to make people think about and defend their views.

Not to mention defend myself and people I know and love from out right false and unwarranted attacks.

I am not proud of myself when I take easy shots at people I am mad at, and I will do my best to only dispute the inaccurate assertions rather than the horse they rode in on.

I think you do a great job of keeping this board on track and on topic, and I do not mean to make your job difficult.

Anytime you have a problem with my posts, I will do my best to change. I really appreciate this board, and I hope it can help others as much as it has helped me.

a few weeks ago I had a bit of a disagreement with Merlin and I was completely wrong.

I think that the best way of discerning the mettle of a person is when one has a disagreement with him or her. In this regard Merlin has shown himself to be a shining example that many would do well to emulate.

It doesn't mean that I would automatically say, "Merlin right or wrong". It's just that Merlin is very rarely wrong (but that won't stop me disagreeing with him if I don't agree with his position, I go into stubborn mode, or get a back-attack).

Anyway I have had another back attack (hence the recent absence from here).

A few years ago Seguaro Rose pulled me up for a few posts I made whilst having a back-attack, and she suggested (well actually told me in no uncertain terms) that it would be better if I didn't post when I was in that condition.

The good thing about good friends is not when they agree with you when you are wrong, it is when they disagree with you for your own good.

I have self-medicated and am now back to normal.

So, Tory, Tom & Nec.....
what do you not understand about this:

I appreciate greatly Merlin being a moderator, and I don't suspect him. I'm happy he's here, doing what he does. Can I question things sometimes? Of course, and I'm sure he'd agree with me on that. If not, he'll tell me, and that's his right, too.
