Any information on the Sunland-Tujunga Mission?

A new poster here has pointed out that the local government in Sunland-Tujunga is being taken over by Scientologists. It appears to be a small mission, but maybe that makes it easier for them to slip in under the radar.

Unfortunately I couldn't find the article in the Foothills paper, but it sounds like the Scientologists there are up to some shenanigans.

I am copying Gold Leaf's post here, because I think people might have information that can help:

They (Scientologists) are extremely active in the community politic: they are on the Sunland Tujunga Neighborhood Council, the Sunland Tujunga Chamber of Commerce, and the Sunland Tujunga Alliance. They are currently negotiating in private meetings with Los Angeles Councilman Paul Krekorian about changing the the community's Specific Plan (our business corridor) to their way of thinking. Non-Scientology Council members were not informed of these negotiations and a battle erupted revealing the entire community of Sunland Tujunga was excluded from these talks whose outcome will affect them.

Gold Leaf, I think it's important to stop these guys. If you look at what has happened in Hemet, Ca, and Clearwater, Fl you'll see why.

In Hemet they got some of the County Supervisors on their side, and are trying to re-route a major highway, just so it doesn't pass through their property, even though 1,000s of cars use it a day. It looks like that might have been averted, but only because people started noticing and speaking up. Scientologists also got Supervisor Jeff Stone in Riverside to pass an ordinance that controls picketing there, just as a favor to the Scientologists, who are in his district.

In Clearwater, they virtually took over the whole town.

Anyway, first you have to be informed of what is going on, because they are good at making enemies, and trying to make people who are against them look like religious bigots or kooks.

I've heard in the past that this area is heavily Scilon infested, esp. with the main Delphi Acad there. What is it about the place? It is upscale so I assume that broke Scientologists don't live their. I guess it is the ones up the pyramid scheme who are were pulling in dough from it live there?

When my son Alexander Jentzsch was 12 years old, he was working in the Sea Organization at the Flag Land Base.

I have posted previously that a 40 year old called Marie Warren had sex with him 2x. She was 40, he was 12 or 13. It was not reported to Clearwater PD but covered up. Statutory rape.

Marie Warren-Bossio is the President of STABLE (Sunland-Tujunga Association for a Better Living Environment), a San Fernando Valley front group for the cult. STABLE is currently teaming up with the LAPD to help handle drugs and crime in our area, according to Bossio.

She is also one of 4 Scilons on the board of FABA, the support group for the Foothill Division of the Los Angeles Police Department. The other Scilons are Danny Chadwell, Mitch Hermann & Peggy Howard.

Marie is also on the fundraising team for the Political Action Committee of pro-Scilon Congressman Buck McKeon. McKeon recently toured the Delphi Academy in Tujunga and, according to Marie, was extremely impressed with what he saw at Delphi, saying “the problem with the Congress is a skipped gradient” after viewing the 3 Barriers to Study.

Allegedly, McKeon wants to chair the House Education Committee so he can introduced Scientology programs into our public school systems.

A search for Bob Georgius finds him with a list of scientology service completions. I had to access the cache from the search as apparently I do not have permission to view the actual web page resulting from the search. He has competed at least up to OT3.

I did not get a connection to scientology with the others on the list.

Voice of the Village deserves a closer look. It should prove useful as a resource for finding who is doing what and what the various connections are.

STABLE (Sunland-Tujunga Association for a Better Living Environment)

This is a very brief summary of a few of the things STABLE is doing in our Community. More to come!

One of the STABLE accomplishments was getting 4 Scientologists on the FABA board. FABA is the support group for the Foothill Division of the Los Angeles Police Department. At the recent quarterly breakfast, STABLE sponsored 2 tables for STABLE members and local officers, and represented about 10 percent of the attendees. David Nunez, STABLE President, represents the CoS what is this on the FABA board. Danny Chadwell is in charge of memberships. Mitch Hermann represents the Jeopardy programs/education programs couldn’t this just have one ‘program’ in it. Peggy Howard is the treasurer.

Last April local Scientologists were the main group supporting our Political Action Committee in raising funds for our local Congressman, Buck McKeon, who wants to chair the House Education Committee. This would give him the power to promote beneficial educational programs and give the axe to destructive ones. We held the reception at our local Coco's restaurant on Foothill and after the reception he was taken on a tour of Delphi LA. Congressman McKeon was extremely impressed with what he saw at Delphi, saying “the problem with the Congress is a skipped gradient” after viewing the 3 Barriers to Study. John Chambers, Marie Warren-Bossio, Marti Marshall and Gary Brown were the STABLE members that led the rest of us on this project.

STABLE provided two entries to the annual Sunland-Tujunga 4th of July Parade. First was STABLE itself, lead by a baton-twirler and the STABLE banner, proudly displaying the LRH quote “Save the Child and you Save the Nation”. Following that was our Boy/Cub Scout honor-guard and horses and STABLE members passing out flyers explaining our surveyed purpose to help the police handle crime along with TWTH® booklets.

Later in the parade, the crowds saw the TWTH rally car with a number of STABLE members again handing out TWTH. In all we handed out every booklet and flyer we had, some 1400 booklets and hundreds of flyers as well.

STABLE is currently teaming up with the LAPD to help handle drugs and crime in our area. Foothill division this year had the lowest crime rate of all the divisions (and crime in all of LA is down).

Their newest project is to handle the schools in our area. We have contacted several Scientologists who work for LAUSD and are working out a program to handle this area.

John La Rocca, a STABLE member, along with Ava Wrightsman, made a presentation to Wendy Greuel, our city Council member, directly of LRH materials.

We have a STABLE member who ran for and won a seat on the Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council as an Interfaith Representative (representing the CoS). Richard Stewart starts his term in January 2006. His project is to contact other churches in the area and survey them to find out what is needed and wanted by their parishioners so we can expand handling in the area.

Contact Joe Smith and tell him that you have seen the declare order on Susie Bell OR urge him to contact OSA so he can confirm that there is a declare order on Susie himself.

If you do that and the connection remains then you should write a KR on Joe Smith (in the example above). Please write the KR per the KR policy. Send a copy to them via facebook private message if you do not know how else to get it to them.

BUT do not just send private messages to everyone else telling them that Joe Smith has SPs as friends without first confirming that he even knows this. Perhaps Joe Smith does not know. It is tantamount to simply third partying someone that may have NO idea that there is any problem. Conversely if they do know and they are not doing anything about it the need to put ethics in on them is now your responsibility.

I have received several of these alerts about connections being suppressives. In one case it was true. The others turned out to be "panic" alerts that had not been verified at all. They were false. I even received a private message from someone saying that some lady, listed as a friend of mine, was in bad standing and should be removed from my list. When challenged by someone else (it was a broad message to many people) that did try to verify this her response was that she was removing her just to be safe. Upon pulling the string the lady had done absolutely nothing. In fact it was the opposite, she had been the subject of an attack by a squirrel group. This is a way to really trash someone who has not done anything if you are lazy about it and just keep spreading something without verifying it first. It is a responsibility that you bear to verify these things before spreading them around.

We have policy on ethics, justice and third party. We do not need to be allowing ourselves to be connected to those that have gotten themselves declared and are stopping our group and its members. We also do not need to go crazy spreading false information that ruins a reputation without cause or proper use of our own ethics and justice.

Please learn LRH policy on JUSTICE. DO NOT allow your social networks to become a hot bed of suppressives and do not fall prey to falsely labeling someone "just to be safe". Don't be lazy.

Keep your lines clean and follow LRH policy.

Like Cindy and Tomi Lyn, the Dan has no ethics or scruples, and runs the Council like he runs the rest of life.

This is why I am “mean” to them. They hold a public trust to be ethical. Everyone on the Council who does not speak up for the rights of the community is, by implication, corrupt also. And these are good folks and our neighbors – people who put in an effort to make our community better, who serve without pay, who believe in what they are doing. But they look up to and follow their leaders. We are a community with problems that are steadily getting resolved. We have never had such a wonderful police presence. For the first time in the past five years, have people actively trying to make our community better.

Forget about the rumors that the Scientologists have taken over our community. So what? Last year everyone was concerned that “the Armenians” were taking over, and the year before that, the Koreans. Who really cares? [...]

I had to turn away from this several times as it just makes me sick to realize the suspicions are likely true... Our little community of Sunland Tujunga (40-60,000)was a rural one on the outskirts of Los Angeles' influence. It is where many with $$$ will live in comfort while still being able to commute to LA City jobs. Most residents want it to stay rural, small, pleasant...

Currently a HUGE debate is being waged over the business corridor in Sunland Tujunga and leading the charge to re-open the Foothill Boulevard Corridor Specific Plan is a small group of people who are making decisions for our whole community without the community's knowledge or acquiescence. These negotiations with Councilman Paul Krekorian were conducted in secret. Tomi Lyn Bowling is the Sunland Tujunga Neighborhood Council Vice President and Chairwoman in Charge of The Land Use Committee. She is also a Director of the Sunland Tujunga Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Sunland Tujunga Alliance; this unholy alliance of three political groups have taken over the community interests. Several others are in the photo posted on this thread of the grand opening (to no fanfare) of the Scientology's new location. Members of these groups who are not Scientologists or who objected to the proposal to reopen the Specific Plan were excluded from negotiations, even Neighborhood Council members and leading community activists.

It will take some effort to explain all the convolutions and you can read some good articles by Joseph Mailander on his site: http://street-hassle.blogspot.com/ and on the Foothills Forum: a local forum run by the same man who is webmaster for The Voice Of The Village (the good news newspaper) so you can imagine the slant the forum takes... it is currently pretty quiet as opponents have withdrawn but you can learn more by searching 'Specific Plan', Tomi Lyns thread called 'The Whole Story' (Part 6 reveals she granted exceptions to the Specific Plan to satisfy real estate transactions) and my own thread called 'Terre's Story'...

I'm still trying to understand it all... what is happening and how to stop the takeover. Other wars for land include the two golf courses which the Land Use Committee are trying to get the City of LA to buy a 20 milliion property for 1.7 million and includes prime residential, and the other one was forced to give land away to a conservancy because the Land Use Committee launched a war on homeless encampments in the nearby wash...

It's complicated...

Gold Leaf, I really think there is a big story here.

Obviously, we on this board are interested in exposing the crimes and abuses of the Church of Scientology, but for you as a resident, you just want your town back.

Right now there is so much attention in So Cal on corrupt local governments, that this fits in very neatly with what people suspect is going on in a lot of places. The LA Times has been covering this type of thing for months.

When I first started looking into the Church back in 2005, I had no clue how these things work. Now I understand much better how to be a squeaky wheel. Basically, you have to write letters, and show up at city council meetings and board of supervisor meetings if necessary, and do this over and over. It works. Once people see what is going on, the tide will turn. Usually local papers cover the city council meetings, and sometimes big papers do, if there is something interesting like this brewing.

This story has two big elements that could work for you: 1 It's about corruption of local government and 2 It's about Scientology. Both if these things are in the news right now, and both have caught the public's eye in a bad way.

I'm going to read your links and see if there is a plan that could work. Like I said, a lot of people here are really good at "harpoons."

PS. I should mention that the church doesn't like people who go against them. You probably know this, but you might get accused of being a religious bigot or something. Right now they have some ex-members they are focusing most of their attention on, so you probably won't feel as much heat as they have dished out in the past.

I have a couple questions.

Why do the Scientologists want the specific plan that reopens the corridor to pass? Does it help their mission somehow?

Also, are Joe Barrett or Robin Seigel Meares Scientologists? The intentional bumping and the videotaping inches from your face are textbook Scientology methods. See this (these are protesters in Clearwater Fl, Scientology's Mecca, a city that Scientology pretty much owns):

This is interesting from the email Carolyn posted. It sounds like they want to promote their Scientology school, and maybe make another try at getting a Scientology charter school. I Congressman McKeon a Scientologist? What's with the "skipped gradient"?

Sunland Tujunga has a significant population of Scientologists, and I'd bet most of them are graduates of the "PTS/SP How to Confront and Shatter Suppression" course and willing to do the Keeping Scientology Working. An awareness of Scientologists in your neighborhood, and even Scientologists around the world, postulating your shattering and awaiting opportunities or orders to shatter you, is the kind of heat that should be felt.

There is no evidence that Scientology has stopped focusing on or gathering intelligence on any enemy, or even stopped fair game actions on some enemy because of fair gaming someone else. It's a comfortable thought, and it may make the "Troops Focusers" feel causative, but it's not real.

Fair game is not restrained by the idea that Marty in Texas and Mike in Florida have Scientology's enemies' backs in Sunland, for example, or that they're drawing fire, or running a protection racket. Scientologists' universal fear of wog law still restrains their ev purps and fair game, which is those ev purps' dramatizations, despite the Scientologists' efforts to control our law. And people like Gold Leaf speaking out and continuing to stand up and tell the truth despite feeling the heat, despite wog law's compromise and corruption, and even despite the PR that the church is dead so there's nothing to speak out about, is what will ultimately bring Scientologists to either abandon fair game, or, as Hubbard says, die in the attempt to fair game us all.

I'm going through the voice of the village issues picking out articles by "scientologists." For an ex it's like spotting scorpions with a black light. I'll post what I get when I finish. Then you can go through the issues on their web site and pick out the names of people who write the articles and who are mentioned in the articles.

That magazine seems to be "open minded." That might be a PR ploy. It has published articles on things like Alzheimer's, autism and caring about the homeless. It also has articles about activities of the local Roman Catholic church. For some reason the publisher seems to be obsessed with eagle scouts.

If you haven't yet made any waves, Gold Leaf, I suggest you keep a low profile while you do your research and set things up. One thing that will help you is to gather together some people of like mind to you. You have to be careful not to recruit anyone involved in scientology. As soon as you gain any kind of profile in the community they will infiltrate any group of people you gather together.

Back to their publication. They seem to be willing to publish submissions on a variety of subjects, even those that seem at cross purposes to scientology. That may be something of a smoke screen. I'd be tempted to get a 'neutral' individual who is not involved with any kind of agenda to send in articles on critical thinking, logical fallacies and other related topics.

Another thing you need to do before taking on scientology is to make sure of your own personal security. Get a cross shredder and put in a brick barbecue facility in which you can burn what you shred. Put in other security measures. Check to make sure the local police force has no scientologists in it and is not connected to scientology. If the local police are connected to scientology that will change the nature of your tactics.

I had not heard of the Sunland Tujunga community, unbelievable that it has become a Scientology haven. It must be hard for you Gold Leaf to navigate among them and manage to keep your sanity. How is it that they have not managed to silence you ? Aren't you afraid ? They seem to have total control of that community and this is dangerous, what are you going to do ?

The Scilons don't control the Sunland-Topanga community. Yes, a large number of them reside in the area, but alot more non-Scilons live there.

People live in the Sunland-Tujunga area because property rates are lower than in the metro LA area and it's rural. The cult's Delphi School for middle & high school students is in Tujunga.

From my outsiders observation here, I see a very small group of informed individuals (critical of sci) who understand how another small group (Sci) can build on political clout gained within any community. This IMHO addresses a larger problem faced by many a community across America.

This larger problem being the local citizenry not being involved with either the political process within said community or not becoming involved until entrenched ideals may affect them. In other words, non involvement, meaning not going to meetings and having your voice heard and to a greater extent vetting before you vote for a given local politician or even just plain going out and voting @ all allows for special interests to rule the roost.

There is only so much we as activists/critics can do when informing a community and its citizens about the possible ramifications of scientology within said community. Especially when we are not a voting part or citizen of that community.

It always amazed me how this lack of voter involvement leads to ordinances/variances etc being voted on and passed by a minority of the citizenry. The greater question for we the activist would be how to involve and inform the local citizenry?

Our greatest power as outsiders are those signs we hold up on the side of the road during an informative protest. That simple non aggressive act alone may pique uninformed passersby interest about something they may not be aware of as happening within their community.

I say pick up that sign. Go to that business corridor in question and inform the uninformed. I guarantee some local citizens will in fact attend a council or planning meeting and ask the powers that be WTF?

Protesting works and it helps people. It did here in GA. It can in your community also.
